You can order protein powder from any health food store or supplement store like GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, etc. If you have a costco/sams membership you can get a giant tub of it too.

What sort of protein are you looking for? Protein suppliments often don't work. The body does best with "real" foods--ie quality meats, fresh fruits and veges.

dh orders a lot from massnutrition.com or we get protein from two different locally owned supplement shops (the owners are friends of ours). GNC and the chain stores are so overpriced and the people working there rarely have a clue.

I have compared several brands and the stuff at Walmart really is on par with what you buy from the expensive sites or specialty stores in quality . . . but it's really just not yummy. I've choked down a lot of it . . . but bleh!

I use Whey Protein Complete, made by Standard Process. It's a whole foods supplement. I stir it into my creamtop yogurt in the mornings with honey, pepitas, hemp seeds, raw cacao, and unsweetened coconut. His_chosen was right on the money with her comment.

Check out AllStarHealth. I use the Nature's Best Isopure Low Carb Whey Protein. Their prices are significantly lower than what you'll spend at GNC and they have most of the popular brands at a big discount. http://www.allstarhealth.com/

I went through 10 5 lb bags of ESA powder from Sams over the summer and early fall. Its 30 bucks for 72 23gram servings. I would take 2 servings after a good workout and one before bed and one in the morning and one before a workout which makes 5lbs last about 2 weeks plus ,if you work out 6 days a week. Results were fair I guess. His chosen may be right that natural foods like nuts, turkey chicken, fish and eggs and dairy may produce better results. I will know by spring.

sunny, It's a "SUPPLEMENT"-meant to SUPPLEMENT a healthy diet. I don't think it is a matter of "does it work or not", as if it is an either/or proposition. If you posted on a Bodybuilding forum, they would tell you the same thing....eat good sources of lean protein from real food, and SUPPLEMENT with protein shakes. Especially good for post work out because of the fast absorption. From what I've read- 1-1.5 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight is recommended daily intake of proteint for muscle building. So IMO the protein shakes certainly have their place as SUPPLEMENTS, but like anything can be overdone if they are replacing the establishment of healthy dietary habits. I generally only drink one a day post workout-I do occasionally have two a day when I work the night shift because my sleep/food/exercise routine gets mixed up and I like to make sure I am getting enough protein.
