Our daughter is doing online classes with Liberty University. She has completed Theology I and II..and is beginning Christian psychology. She's taking one class at a time, due to the fact she has two jobs and is paying for her apartment. She's previously attended a Christian college out of state for two years, took a year off...and now finishing up with Liberty online. Also, she will attend hands on classes at Liberty, next year in Virginia. It is accredited. Her classes have consisted of physical textbooks, DVD and online testing, and sharing on a LU student forum for her particular class. This is all I know. She aced both classes with an A. I get her old books soon, and can't wait to dig into them. No credit for me...just wanting to learn.

Hi there! I'm currently a Bible and Theology major at Nazarene Bible College. It's located in Colorado, but they offer almost all of their degree programs in an online format as well. I absolutely LOVE this school! The staff is outstanding and you actually develop personal relationships with them because they really have an honest desire to do the Lord's work and to see you succeed. I feel so blessed that God led me to this school. Aside from all of that, they also have ABHE accreditation -- which is pretty important in terms of christian colleges. You can google ABHE to find out more about it. Whatever school you choose, make sure you check out their accreditation. That's super important. Another school that I checked out was Ohio Christian University, and from what I researched, it seemed like a really good school too. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions! God Bless! Misti

I have attended online school for a long time. I went to Kaplan and now I am at Everest University for my BA in paralegal science. I love the online arena because I don't drive, and it's getting cold in Chicago. I think a person has to be discipline to take online, and that's the key to making it work for you. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I just have to make sure that my internet stays on. Carol Ann MT Student http://www.mtworkathome.com www.myspace.com/carolannj

I might sound like a commercial - my best friend has a 2 yr old and works full time an hour away from home - does University of Phoenix online and LOVES it. She's working on becoming a CPA.

I've heard good things about Capella (a friend of mine just got her PhD from there), Walden (another friend of mine is studying for her PhD there), and of course University of Phoenix. Also, keep in mind that many major schools have online components. For example, the University of Maryland has extensive online course offerings through the University of Maryland, University College campus. (I took classes online - it was very good.) The University of California has some as well - but I'm not sure if it is for credit. Does your school have an online component - or online courses? What about the community college in your area (maybe you could knock out some lower level electives). Or a college in your state (it might be more likely to transfer). Whatever you do, think about where you might graduate from and make sure to discuss transfer credits up front so you aren't stuck taking classes over again.

You need to be careful with schools that are completely online. They may be accredited, but it doesn't mean they are the best form of education. I know that some people may have these degrees, but the truth is, they aren't looked upon too highly when comparing it in the field against someone that has a degree from a college that is traditional. The truth is that the degree may not mean very much at all. If you want classes that are online, then you need to find a traditional university that offers online classes. Don't go to an online school, just have a university that has an online option. Work in a couple classes online into your schedule and once you are used to that, perhaps add a night class once a week. I really would not recommend online universities. They are more expensive than it is worth. Amanda

I just started at University of Phoenix. Actually, Axia College which is their AA , AS degree program. It's awesome. It's only been a week but it's great. I only called them 2 weeks before if that. I think it was about a week. We went through the whole process mostly over the phone. I did go in once. It was so easy and simple I barely had to do anything. They have everything planned out for you. I'm taking 2 classes every 9 weeks online. It's a good program and I'll finish in less than 2 years. The website is Universityofphoenix.com.

Check out Strayer... I'm slowly working on my Business Admin degree...evidently my employer (a major defense contractor) thinks highly enough of them that they offer tuition discounts and reimbursement for their degree programs. I attend entirely online... NDY

Now that person is working for another contractor and has been able to advance. I've heard really good things about the school.

I attended Liberty University for undergrad...and absolutely loved it. I'm currently finishing up my M.Div through their online program. I think it's a GREAT program. I have quite a few friends who have gone on to become adjunct profs. for online classes and rave about it as well. I think everyone here is going to be a little biased towards their experiences, obviously, but I think you can't go wrong with any of the schools mentioned above. The "online education community" has really grown recently and is a great options for people who want to pursue further education. Good luck to you!
