PMs crash if they are too long (too many chars?) instead of error trapping with a nice error message and graceful "go back"

Leah, it doesn't happen to me every time but it goes in spurts. Like now for instance. I was moving through forums just fine and now I'm having trouble. I can't remember what the error is called, system something. I have been Xing out the window when it just chugs instead of loading because it's so annoying. It usually happens for like 5 minutes then everything is fine again.

next time I get it I'll keep track.

I am getting the same thing (different computer different browser) with the search. Instead of taking you to a particular post it leaves you at post 1 even if the post you want is on page 57.
we are aware of this bug and are looking into it.
Any progress? This is getting really annoying....

It is on the list.

Since you CAN get to the post it isn't high on the list for repair.

How can you get to the post?

Over to the right of the results there is the person's name and a green arrow and a paper. Click on that and it will open a new window directly to the post where the searched word appears.

The login page seems to hang up on me an awful lot. I sign in and get the "Login Successful" page, but it stalls there and doesn't take me anywhere. (Usually I'm on the Today's Posts page or another thread, and login from there. It used to take me back to that thread or page.)

I have not yet determined the frequency of this; it does seem to be at least most of the time if not all the time.

Firefox 2.0, Windows XP.

Does it happen if you login from the main page?

Argh.

I just tested 4 things: logging in from the Home Page, the FaithWalk forum, the "Today's Posts" search list, and an individual thread.

They all worked.

There's nothing quite like trying to diagnose a problem only to have it be intermittent. Honest, it happens!

I was just on THIS PAGE and logged in from there, and it froze up on me.

Try logging in from only the home page for a week and let me know if it is still doing it.

Hello there.

I'm here to report a theft. Someone stole my capital B and capital L. I used to be BugLady, and as you can see, now I'm buglady. Whodunnit now? I tried to change it back, but the system won't let me. Is this a fixable by someone with Super Powers?

Change the name to something else.

Then change it back to BugLady with the capitalization.

I'm not sure if this happens to anyone else, but when the automatic refresh happens it also refreshes whatever else I (or someone else ) am doing on the computer. It's done it on Yahoo email, neopet games, and myspace, so I don't think it's my computer.

No, this does not happen to me. What browser are you using?

Firefox

It's gotten to the point that when anyone else gets on the computer, they close out my window.

ive been getting heck of a lot of these lately

Server Error in '/' Application.
Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Is it in a specific place, or when doing a specific thing? I need some sort of pattern to work off.

Mark, I have the same problem. It happens on any page, at any time, one could be responding to a PM, trying to post a message, or just trying to view a page. when it happens I can't go anywhere for a few minutes. I wait maybe 2 minutes more or less and try again and then it is fine. I seem to have the most problem in the morning but it can happen anytime of the day or evening. It doesn't seem to be any one thing or action I could be trying to view anything. the one place it doesn't happen is when I click the main forums page. I can get to that, even when I am getting the system error for any other action

When clicking on the 'forums' link on the crosswalk.com homepage, the browser locks up. This has happened both at home and at work. Both computers are Windows XP...IE7 at home, and IE6 at work.
