I've just spent half the day with dh looking for pink things. One of our friends is having her 30th Bday party tonight. She is a pink person!

We bought her three pink mixing bowls (to match her pink toaster and pink salt and pepper shakers) and six white placemats. I hope the bowls are the right shade of pink.

Well, I'm sure she'll get plenty of use out of them, no matter the shade.

I'm sure she will. It was a good party, although more alcohol than I like to be around.

I have my 35th coming up next month. I don't know whether we're doing anything for it or not.

We also went out last night and had a bbq at the Koala Park with some friends.

My bulbs have started coming up. We have little green plants all down the side passage. And apparently my pruning worked because for the first time since we moved here the camellias are flowering.

Dh and a friend did some work on the deck out the back yesterday (the old one was starting to rot through and as it's our temporary deck which is out there, we have to fix it unless we want to go back to bare dirt), so this morning dh and I had breakfast out on the half finished deck.

Dh is now working for the next three to four hours. Unfortunately he couldn't take the whole long weekend off.

Trish, did you get a long weekend this weekend?

Kylie

Kylie, no long weekend for us. We have a long weekend the first weekend of this month - Foundation Day in WA. We have our Queen's birthday weekend at a different time of the year than you do.

Sounds like the garden's doing nicely.

I thought that was the case Trish.

Darcy, I'm glad it all sounds good. I've had a couple of down days lately. I know it's a timeframe thing and that give it a week or two and I'll be fine, I just need to see some bills get paid (just waiting for the pay to come in so it can go out).

Yeah... I got paid today and before 7am it was all pretty much gone on two bills.

Dh is supposed to get paid for a really large job next Friday but until then it's all about survival. He's out of town until Friday of this week but if he gets done early enough he'll be able to invoice for that work before the end of the pay period too which means that money will come in next Friday too.

I'm struggling with him being out of town right now. Nicole (in the Women's Chat Thread) is going through some stuff with her dh's work and it's really gotten to me because it involves aeroplanes; with dh doing so much flying lately...

I've had the same thing happen with finances the last few pays. I budget for things before I get the money, but before payday is even over, I don't see the money. Last pay, I was sick, so I gave my card to Joan, with a list of bills that needed to be paid. I literally didn't see a cent of my pay.

Yeah! I certainly see enough of that with my new job.

Dh is off to Sydney tomorrow. He'll be back on Thursday. J and X may miss swimming on Thursday if we have to go and pick him up.

Hey Darcy! How's your day going?

I'm just finishing up some washing so I can put it in the dryer overnight so that J and X have school clothes tomorrow.

I am hanging out for this Friday. Dh is supposed to get all that back pay come in this week. That means a lot of bills caught up on. We've managed to pay the essentials but the bills which aren't imperative have had to be put off and I hate doing that to people.

I'm waiting for a call from dh. He's in Sydney overnight and should be home tomorrow afternoon. BUT, the guy who was supposed to meet hime onsite this evening wasn't there when dh got there and one of the staff members told dh that the person who was supposed to meet him had gone home for the day.

How annoying that people aren't where they are when they say they're going to be there.

I hope you do get the back pay thing sorted out so you can sort out your finances. Makes it hard when you're waiting on money to come so you can pay bills that you've had to wait on.

I'm having one of those weekends!

Dh has to pay for the new licensing they're bringing in for his trade by tomorrow. Someone supposedly paid dh early last week and dh had actually arranged time off on Thursday so that he could go into the city to do all the paperwork for the licensing and have it done. We have seen no evidence of that payment in our bank account. They've been chasing up what happened with the payment since Thursday and are now incontactable.

We have just enough money left over from my pay to cover the licence but nothing extra... Thank you God that it's school holidays and I don't have to have money free to get kids home from school.

It's my birthday on Tuesday. Dh asked to have this week in town rather than interstate. An urgent job came up and he's flying out on Wednesday and won't be back until Saturday morning.

Saturday evening we're having my birthday party and we still have to complete 3/4 of the back deck so that there is somewhere for everyone to be which isn't just mud and dirt.

We were going to use my pay this weekend to buy the last of what we needed for the deck. Now we won't have the money to do anything about it until Tuesday, on which he's working, and, as I said, dh flies out on Wednesday.

Up side - I have a birthday this week and am having a party next Saturday.

Kylie

Well, if I don't get to see you again before Tuesday, have a happy birthday.

I hope that money comes through too. What a pain when people tell you that they're going to pay you at a certain time, then don't.

Wow, time has run away.

It's been a sad week here. We got a call yesterday that a friend we hadn't seen for a while had committed suicide. We haven't had a lot of details but, as she had a baby recently, we're left wondering if post natal depression was involved.

Yes, very sad, made all the sadder I think because she was a Christian. I can't imagine losing your hope in the Lord to that extent.

Yeah, I've been there myself, but it's always different from the outside looking in.

On a brighter note, I went and watched Hancock with a friend last night. We were being very brave mothers and let our two 13yo boys watch The Hulk in another cinema at the same time. We had thought about watching Get Smart but it would have left those two 13yos with about 40mins on their hands before we got out (trust is one thing, but there's trust and then there's setting people up to fail).

They did good! They'd just sat down with their McDonalds when we got out of our movie.
