Commander Lelandra Shell sat in her quarters, writing a letter to the Trill Council updating them on her progress as a host. She leaned back and yawned, her mind wandering briefly to Kevin Taylor's crime.

"I hope they lock him up and throw away the key."

She frowned, thinking of how angry it made her that someone had infiltrated their crew. She wouldn't let that happen again.

With a satisfied nod, she sent out her letter and went to bed.

The USS DEBIT CARD finally came to a stop, the engines turned off. Carefully the three bombs were removed from the warp core. Transporter tags were placed on them and they were beamed off the ship. Once off, they were detonated, exploding with a force that, even from a distance of several thousand killometers away, shook the ship,

Kurt Taylor, sitting in his cell, slowly started laughing to himself.

Kanani squats on the sand, along with T and closes her eyes. All of a sudden a rush of wind blows and she once again is faced with a vision. This time, the vision is much clearer, much more than in the past. It's 10 p.m. and people are really starting to dance.

Jamie: Kanani C'mon! You have to dance at least once tonight girl.

Kanani: Looks like no one will ask me so maybe next time.

Jamie: Awe!

Jamie dissapears into the dancing crowd. It's 1080's and 1990's night and "Head to Toe" is playing. Deep inside is a woman dying to dance and have some fun. It's been so long. Kanani is getting restless and without realizing it, she moves just a little bit, enough to see that she wants to dance but is holding back. the song ends and "Eternal Flame" begins to play. She thinks how much she loves that song. She closes her eyes and listens. A voice appears suddenly, "Excuse me. Would you like to dance?" Kanani looks up and standing in front of her is a tall man. It's a little dark but she can tell that he has brown hair and is quite handsome.

Kanani: Um, alright.

The man takes her hand and guides her to the dance floor, holding her hand in a very old fashioned way, keeping her elbow bent and her palm facing down. He slowly leads her and they dance. He is very strong but very gentle at the same time. At first she is nervous and tense but she slowly becomes more comfortable and relaxes a bit. They both are silent. Then without warning, her heart starts to race and her breathing becomes inconsistent. For some odd reason, he is able to feel her heartbeat. It surprizes him so he loosens his grip her just a little bit. They continue dancing. Towards the end of the song, a flashing light blinds her and her starts to spin. Because of his loosened grip she stumbles forward and he has to almost catch her and prevent her from falling. Without realizing it, Kanani regains her composure. For the first time, she hears his voice.

Kurt: Are you alright?

Kanani: Yes, I'm fine. What happened?

Kurt: For a moment you looked disoriented and almost fell.

Kanani: I'm fine now.

The songs ends and Kanani insists that she is fine.

Kurt: It was a pleasure dancing with you Kanani.

Kanani: Yes, thank you. Kevin leaves the dance floor. She watches him walk away and wonders how he knew her name?

30 minutes later...

The lights to Kurt's loft turns on. Kurt removes his jacket and drapes it on the desk chair. He heads to the bathroom, turns on the faucet and rinses his face. He heads back out to the living room

Kurt: Computer, clear window tint. His wall to wall window tint clears and a view of the city can be seen. It's a clear night and the stars are shining bright tonight. Kurt lands in his couch and leans his head back. What just happened tonight?

Kanani's vision ends and she opens her eyes.

T: Was that clearer for you?

Kanani: It was clear what happened that night but that didn't answer the question about why I had that a vision.

T: Yes, I now I'm going to tell you why. I just wanted you to remember that night first.

T and Kanani stand and continue their walk along the shore.

...

FAther Mulcahey walked down the corridor and entered the turbo lift.

Mulcahey: Deck 26, Brig

The turbo lift slowly lowered the reverend down several levels before it came to a smooth stop. As the doors opened Father Mulcahey exited into the hallway just outside the brig. Captain Nemo and Security Chief Ingersol waited for him.

Mulcahey: Lt. Mulcahey, reporting as ordered sir.

Nemo: Thank you, reverend for coming.

Mulcahey: Not a problem, Captain, however I must confess I'm not sure why I'm needed.

Nemo: You and Lt. Ingersol are here to make sure I don't kill the prisoner. With that, Nemo turned and walked into the holding area. Mulcahey touched Ingersol on the arm.

Mulcahey: Was he joking?

Roc: No. Roc turned to follow the Captian, followed by Mulcahey.

T and Kanani continue to walk along the shore...

Kanani: Well?

T: I'll try to keep it as short as possible. Kanani, I am sure you know by now that Kurt was a former seminary student and was heading in the direction of being ordained as a pastor?

Kanani: Yes, I discovered that while going through the Captain's files.

T: That night, when you had that vision, two things happened. It was a preview for what God had planned for the both of you. That night, the vision was not clear to you; but it was clear to Kurt. He saw exactly what you didn't see that night. The vision goes something like this- there was gun fire and a struggle was going on and he was a part of it. There laying on the ground before him was a woman, dead and the last part was a blinding light...

Kanani: You mean that what happened with Kurt in the Brig was the vision?

T: Yes. He saw that vision but didn't know what it meant. Afterwards, he went back to condo to try to make sense of it. A few days later, God had formally "appeared" before him and explained the vision. Kurt was told that He had a plan for him, that he needed to follow some things in order to carry out His will. When God told Kurt that it was he that would cause some major destruction, he didn't want to believe that at first. As you can imagine, it bothered him big time. It wasn't until a month later when Kurt accepted his fate and that was when he conceded to God to do whatever he needed to do to stop the vision from happening. Aand it had something to do with you Kanani.

Kanani: Me? How so?

T: Pauses He was to pursue you.

Kanani: With a look of confusion on her face What? Pursue me? What do you mean?

T: God wanted him to pursue you and for you to fall in love with him.

Kanani: Trying to not say anything Um, go on.

T: Kurt reacted a bit strangely and couldn't understand why pursueing you would prevent him from hurting someone else. He made all kinds of excuses. He wanted to focus on completing seminary and that a relationship would distract him from his studies. But God would make it clear that He wanted him to obey. He placed Kurt in many situations to try to get him to pursue you but managed to avoid contact with you directly. But his attempts didn't work completely. Over the months, he had actually gotten to know you, a lot about you. You just happened to have lunch everyday at the same spot and it just happened to be right outside his office window. Well he came close to graduating from seminary and God had still pushed Him. He finally couldn't hide it anymore and decided that He would do what God wanted him to do. He had then planned a way to meet you in person. At this point Kanani he fought and he fought but deep inside he knew he loved you. But the fight weakened him a bit. When you love someone and fight it, it can do a number on your heart. Anyway, he made his plan to meet you... Pauses... Then a week later, that was when his brother died. Kanani looks down He was so distraught and grieved like any normal person would. But something happened to him. Something happened to his brain. He became two persons. He was then diagnosed with severe bi-polar disorder but it was more than that. His weakness had allowed him to Spiritually become weak. But Kanani, God didn't give up on him completely. There were moments and opportunities for Kurt to turn around. There was a new side to him though, an evil side that wanted revenge, a side that was so angry and hurt that he wanted to do whatever it took to hurt the person that killed his brother. He would go back and forth from being himself to being that monster.

Looks directly into Kanani's eyes. Kanani, from that day on, he spent his time in conflict between pursuing you and moving forward in his agenda for revenge. He knew that your love would save him from destruction. At one point he was very angry with God. He couldn't understand why God himself would not take away his pain and fix the problem itself; but it was clear that God wanted your love to heal him.

Kanani: In a quiet voice T, why did you me tell all of this now, when it's too late? I can't do anything for him now. He has done the crime.

T: Because it's not too late. He may have lost the battle with his own self but it is never too late to give someone love.

Kanani: No, I don't understand. Why did so many people have to suffer and die all because God wanted Kurt to experience love?

T: God's plans for Kurt has a far greater purpose than for Kurt alone. It's something that Kurt himself understood and still understands. He just has struggled with accepting it. Kanani shakes her head

T: I have told you want to needed to tell you Kanani. However you receive it is up to you. I have to go now. I hope you find peace with this. Oh BTW, I know you love him.

T and the beach disapears. Kanani is back in her quaters.

Lelandra Shell yawns sleepily and steps out of her bed. It's almost time for her shift, and she certainly doesn't want to be late. That would be unbecoming of someone as professional as she is.

She pulls her long hair back in a bun and studies her reflection. With a shrug, she heads out of her quarters and to the bridge.

Walking briskly down the corridor, Markov turns a corner, and then abruptly stops. Claire, who was trotting behind him, fails to stop in time and slams into Markov. Groaning a bit, Markov pushes his tail against her nose, which causes her to quickly back up!

Claire: Markov, you know I hate that!

Markov just turns his head far enough so that she could see his toothy grin. She just shakes here head and groans, rolling her eyes at the same time... Openning the door to the holo-deck, Markov steps in.

Claire: So.. What's it going to be this time? A catnap in a tree?

Markov: Rrrrggghh... Naaww.... Hunting....

Claire: Oh? What? Field mice?

Markov half groans/half purrs as he rattles off some program name and number. Claire isn't sure if she should laugh, just giggle, blush with embarassement, or what... A combination of them? Talking about contradictory emo....

The sudden change from a blank room to a broad grassland hadn't gotten her attention. But, the suddenly charging rhino did!! And, it was turning towards them!

A sudden howl or screech from almost behind her caused her to almost literately jump out of her skin! She figured she must have screamed, or at least yelped, because Markov just turned and smiled at her. His special boots were off, foot-claws digging deeply into th ground. His hand-claws were already extended... Dripping blood?

A very, very weird sound came from the other direction, her right. (For Markov was on her left..) Whether it was a grunt, a growl, or what, she had no idea. But, the read fluid dripping from the side of its head was obvious to her. Had she been so lost in thought that she had been clueless to it's initial charge and Markov's attack? Or, was he just that good?!?! The latter gave her quite the shivers!

The rhino was starting to charge, it's blood almost spraying behind it. It starts to stagger, but still charges. Markov lets out some increadibly scarry howl while running towards the rhino. Then, before it can gore him, Markov leaps onto it's back and starts tearing up its think skin with his extemely sharp claws, causing the rhino to turn towards her, heaving like a dying animal... (It most evidently was!!)

As Lt. Claire Green started turning very, very white, and tried to run backwards, she stumbled over herself and fell into a heap on the ground. Breathing so hard and quickly, Claire felt herself starting to hyperventilate... Forcing herself to focus on her training... (Training for something like this?!?!)

The ground shook near her, dirt and grass sprayed onto her, knocking her face first into the dirt! Rolling onto her back, she looked into the glassy eyes of the rhino, lying less than two meters from her. Very, very dead.... Gasping for air, she feels something soft tap her on her shoulder.

She couldn't help it. She half yelped, half screamed as she turn around... Turned around a looked up at Markov, smiling like a cheshire cat (even though he looked more like a cougar).

Markov: Rrrrgggghhhh???? Don't cats on earrrtthhh bring dead animalssssshhh to their keeperrrs as a sign of affessshhetion?

Claire had no idea how to interpret that... Joke? Attempt to flirt? Attempted suicide?

Lelandra Shell stood and stretched, her shift on the bridge over. Kanani entered the bridge from the turbo lift and walked down the ramp to the command chair.

Choy: Commander Shell, Delta shift is here to releave you.

Shell: Good, I could use some down time.

Choy: Anything we should be aware of? Kanani moved to the command chair and sat down. Shell began to walk away.

Shell: We should be docking at starbase 214 in less than three hours. I contacted the base commander and updated him on our status. They will be ready for our arrival, stay, prisioner transfer, supply transfer, and departure. Kanani stared at Shell Those were the exact words of the station commander. You can playback the communication if you want to. It was quite entertaining to be a part of.

Choy: I'll take your word for it.

Shell: Then I leave the bridge to your capable hands, don't blow us up. With that, Shell entered the turbo lift and the doors closed behind her.

Li: Commander, does it not bother you when she addresses you in that tone of voice?

Choy: No, Lt. I've learned that's just her. Besides, despite her faults, of which there are many, she's a good first officer, and she can be counted on in a tight, life threatening situation.

Shell: Deck ten, forward. Time to relax, Shell thought to herself. A nice tall drink and star gazing for awhile, then maybe off to the holodeck to kill some Klingons or something. The turbo lift came to a halt and the doors opened

Turnel: Commander, it seems my timing is impeccable.

Shell: Trying to maintain a professional posture Ambassador, what can I do for you?

Turnel: Well, we haven't had much of a chance to pursue any lessons, a situation I quite understand. Captain Nemo kept me abreast of the situation.

Shell: Why in the name of the gods of stupidity would Nemo keep this Romulan tag-a-long in the loop of a serious ships crisis? I'm glad you understand why I have been unavailable for any tutoring, lately Ambassador.

Turnel: I also understand that since it has been some time since our last lesson, and since it has been such a short time since your most recent encounter with our sabatour, you may wish to take some time to relax and recouperate.

Shell: My thoughts exactly, Ambassador. What a sharp mind you have Ambassador, you could probably sharpen a stick of butter with that thinking.

Turnel: Good, then you need to come with me.

Shell: I'm on my way to Ten-Forward.

Turnel: Ten-Forward? Oh, no, that won't do. You need to truly relax in style and as a true diplomat would. Come.

Turnel took Shell by the hand and half pulled, half dragged the Trill down the hall to the first holodeck he could find.

Claire just stares at Markov, her mouth is wide open! Finally, after several seconds, Markov finally says: Rrrrggh.. Sorrrgghy.. Bad joke. You did say yourrggh wanted to see how I 'blew offffccchhh steam... Right?

Just stammering for several seconds, Claire finally manages... You call that.... That... Blowing off steam??

Markov: Actually... Rrrggghh... No... Just the warrrggghhm up.

Claire barely realizes that she is shaking her head, just staring at Markov. Warm up?!?! You call that... A warm up?!

Markov nods. Claire manages to get back up to her feet while Markov walks over to a tree, where a control panel suddenly appears. On the screen appears a recording of Markov fighting... Two large bears?!?! Pointing to the screen whie chuckling/growling, Markov says: Now thatsss... Thats what I love to do torrgghgh blow off steam.

Claire just stares and shakes her head. Markov repeatedly says something.. Finally, Claire realises that he's talking to her and that he's asking her how she 'blows off steam.' She pauses for several seconds, trying to get her mush for brains to work. She then starts to feel a grin come across her face, as she walks up to the screen and elbows Markov out of the way. Punching in one of her favorite programs, the safaria dissolves away, and a castle courtyard appears. On several racks scattared about the courtyard, Claire walks over to one and pulls out one of her favorite swords. It's a light weight, very tought, fencing sabre. Getting into an 'en gard' position, Claire looks Markov in the eyes and says: I play with 'sharp, pointy objects' to relieve stress.. At least, I do some times....

Markov walks around to various racks, looking at the different weapons. You know.... My sisscchhter and father loved Midevil Eurrggghhope. Didn't care too mucsshh for it, but did learn a few things... Markov pulls out a one-and-a-half-hand swrod, and starts rolling his wrist with it. Rrrrggghhh.... It has been a while....

The USS DEBIT CARD docked in the outer ring of starbase 214. After several minutes of securing the ship, the base communications officer contacted the ship.

Base Com Officer: USS DEBIT CARD, welcome to starbase 214.

Kanani: Thank you, starbase 214.

Base Com Officer: We have been order to take custody of your prisoner immediately. Are you ready to turn him over?

Kanani: A little shocked at this Let me contact my captain to make sure. Bridge to Captain Nemo.

Nemo: Nemo here.

Kanani: We are docked at base 214.

Nemo: Good, is the base security ready to take Turner?

Kanani: Yes, Captain they are, but I was wondering...

Nemo: No, Commander. Have Ingersol arrange to have him turned over to Base security at once.

Kanani: Understood.

Nemo: Commander, come see me when your shift is over, Nemo out.

Kanani: Back to the screen Starbase 214, the Captain has authorized the transfer of the prisoner into your custody. Our Security Chief will make the arrangements. Debit Card out.

Kanani to Captain Nemo: Captain, may I please have a word with you privately. Please?

Captain: Commander.

Kanani: Please?

Captain: Alright, but think before speaking to me. Got that Commander?

Kanani: Yes sir. I'm on my way to your ready room.

-------------------------------

Kanani: Captain

Nemo: I hope that this is not what I am thinking. Please don't.

Kanani: I got a visit from "T" of the Q continuum last night.

Nemo: "T"? I have heard of him briefly and from Taylor. It's my understanding that he appears mainly for spiritual matters. Why did he visit you?

Kanani: To give me a message...from God.

Nemo: I see. And I gather that would like to tell me what he shared with you?

Kanani: Yes sir.

Nemo: Sighs And is this about Taylor? Kanani looks at Nemo and nodds. Being that I trust you with my life and that I highly respect you Kanani, I will let you speak about this. BUT keep in mind that it will most likely not change anything.

Kanani: I understand Adam. Kanani proceeds to tell Nemo all that was revealed to her by "T".

Kanani: I know all of this sounds wierd Adam; but I believe "T". I didn't want to but for some reason I do.

Nemo: So what is it Kanani that you want me to do? What can you do? It was his fault for not listening to God. He did the damage and there is nothing that can do to stop him from being convicted. Even if there were, I don't think I want that. He needs to suffer the consequences of his actions.

Kanani: Adam I know that. I am not saying that he should be let off in anyway. It's just that, what the heck am I supposed to do? It's obvious that "T", God really, wants for me to...

Nemo: Kanani, want do YOU want? Unless you really do love him... waaaiiit a minute. You don't actually LOVE him do you?

Kanani: I don't know.

Nemo: Kanani.

Kanani: God wouldn't make someone love someone else right? I know that much.

Nemo: That's true. Very true. Buuuut...

Kanani: But what? Maybe it's better that I talk to Father Mulchany about this.

Nemo: I know what you want...You want to know if you should go see him don't you?

Kanani: No, I don't want to see him. I shouldn't.

Nemo: Yes you should see him and I will give you permission to do so.

Kanani: No captain, I won't see him.

Nemo: Kanani. You need to get this over with and resolve it. If you don't it will haunt you for the rest of your life. I am ordering you to go and see him.

Kanani: Captain, this is my personal decision not yours.

Nemo: Kanani.

Kanani looks at Nemo.

Nemo: He will be handed over in an hour, then I will be required to testify in his trial, which is coming up in a few days. If you don't see him now, you may not be able to do so once he's transfered over.

Kanani: We'll see Captain.

Nemo: Be careful Commander. I would hate to see you get hurt. It's one thing to see my friends get physically hurt. To see them get emotionally hurt? That's a whole different ball game.

Kanani nods and leaves the ready room.

------------------

As she rides the turbo lift, what feels like a lightning bolt flows through her body. This startles her and she loses her balance a bit. Kanani squints her eyes as if she is in pain.

Kanani: What do you want from me? Leave me alone please. Another burst of energy flowed through her. She was fighting something but what?

Kanani: I SAID LEAVE ME ALONE!

The doors of the turbo lift opens and Kanani hurries out. Her head is starting to hurt as she trots to her quaters. She get's close and then stops to lean on the wall. A passing ensign asks if she's ok.

Kanani: I'm fine. Excuse me Ensign.

Kanani decides to run to the nearest holodeck.

Kanani: Computer... initiate battle setting 1.2254 with weapon 5698.

Computer: Intiating setting. The room then changes into the rooftop of the main medical training facility back on starbase. On the ground is a fighting stick.

Kanani: Computer, intiate an authentic hologram of Dr. Kevin Tyler. Give him the same weapon.

A hologram of Dr. Tyler appears, holding the same weapon. They both face each other.

"Tyler": You want to fight me Kanani?

Kanani: Well it certainly is NOT a dancing lesson right?

"Tyler": I don't want to fight you Kanani.

Kanani: Call me Commander. Tyler looks at her. With that she makes the first move, swinging her pole toward him. He blocks it but she rotates and aims for him again. He once again blocks her.

"Tyler": I made a mistake, Kanani. I big one.

Kanani: Oh really? Why don't you tell that to the Lt. and to all the others you have hurt? Tell that to the Captain? Kanani swings her pole over her head and aims again. Tyler does a backflip to avoid the hit. As soon as he lands, he blocks another attempt to strike him.

"Tyler": You know that wasn't me Kanani. It was a side of me that I just couldn't control. He locks his pole with hers and pushes hard enough so that he is able to stand up. They both push and Tyler's strength wins this one. They both fall in the opposite direction and he pins her onto the ground. There was only one thing that could of saved me but I chose not to do and it was the biggest mistake of my life. Kanani gains some leverage and manages to flip Tyler over her. As he lands, she swings her pole to the ground, tripping him to the ground. He is not hurt but decides to stay on the ground on his back. He puts his right arm over his eyes. I deserve this. My demise is all because I refused... I refused to love you. Taken aback, Kanani, pretended like she didn't hear that. She thought, how in a world can a hologram be THAT accurate?
With her guard down, Tyler takes his pole and surprizes her with a shot to the hip. She immediately falls to the ground. She is in pain but not hurt.

"Tyler": I told you that I can't control it. Get up Commander.

Kanani: Why?

"Tyler": So you can continuing trying to beat the --- out of me. Kanani slowly gets up and looks directly at Tyler. Then all of a sudden her anger leaves her and she regains much of her own self. As she looks at him, she sees something in his eyes. She then realizes why she is angry. It hits her. She has witnessed and known many who have done just as horrible as a thing as he did; but she never let herself get angry before. It was then she realized that yes, she did love him. Everything about the true person he is, she loved.

"Tyler": Are you going to continue Commander?

Kanani: No Kurt. Computer, end program.

After the program ends, the holodeck programs to Kailua beach in Hawaii. She didn't start the program.

A boy's voice: Hi Kanani!

Kanani turns around and there standing was a little boy, about 6 years old.

Kanani: Hello. May I ask who you are young man?

Boy: It's me Kanani. Remember? Peter.

Kanani: Peter?

Peter: Yup, I was the one you met at Ten Forward, right before the ship left for space. Remember?

Kanani: Oh that's right. I remember now. What are you doing here? Did you start this program?

Peter: Yuup. I know lot's of things. I can do all sorts of things.

Kanani bends down to his level.

Kanani: Well Peter, this is my favorite place. You know, you shouldn't really be in the holodecks without an adult.

Peter: You're an adult right?

Kanani: Chuckes Yes I am. But next time have an adult come here with you to start the program ok?

Peter: Okay. Kanani?

Kanani: Yes Peter?

Peter: So you do love him, right?

Shocked, Kanani looks at Peter with a confused look

Kanani: What?

Peter: Kurt. You love him. I can tell. So why don't you just tell him already. My daddy tells me he loves me all the time and I like that. So why don't you go and tell him?

Kanani: Peter were you watching me just now in here before you started this program?

Peter: Uh, yeah, I guess you can say that.

It now dawns on her...

Kanani: "T", is this you?

Peter: Nope. I'm not "T" but he sent me here.

A bit taken back, Kanani wonders why in the world would T send this little boy to talk to her.

Kanani: Peter, are you a part of the Q contiuum too?

Peter: Uh, sorta. I'm not suppossed to talk to you about that though.

Kanani: That's ok Peter, you don't have to tell me that if you are not supposed to. But do you know why you were sent here?

Peter puts his two hands on Kanani's cheeks.

Peter: Kanani, I just wanna tell you that I know you love Kurt and that you should tell him that you do. He did a bad thing but he needs for you to forgive him and love him so that he can heal. So that you can heal.

Kanani: You are very smart for a boy your age Peter. Kanani takes Peter's hands and holds them. Now, it's time to go ok?

Peter: Alright. Peter smiles at Kanani and Kanani smiles back.

The holodeck returns to normal. Kanani looks at her watch and realizes she has less than 30 minutes before Kurt's transfer. She leaves the holodeck...

Nemo sits in the command chair of the USS DEBIT CARD. Docked at starbase 214, he is relaxed and almost alone on the bridge. All of the command staff is either off duty or working on other assignments. The communications board beeps.

COMM OFFICER: Captain, incoming message from the base JAG.

NEMO: On Screen. The face of a young woman appears on screen. This is Captain Adam Nemo, how may I help you?

SHELTON: I'm Lt. Nancy Shelton JAG officer for starbase 214.

NEMO: Pleasure to meet you, Lt.

SHELTON: Pleasure to meet you, Captain. I've read over the charges you have filed against Kurt Taylor and I've prepared for a prelimanary hearing here. However, I've talke to Starfleet Security and they've informed me that I'm not going to be able to hold the trial here. They want him transefered to Earth to stand trial. Apparently, he has some family and they've secured defense counsel for him.

NEMO: The tone of your voice is making me nervous, Lt. Is something wrong?

SHELTON: Starfleet command is not going to divert the DEBIT CARD or delay it's mission to the boarder of the Delta Quadrant. Therefore, I'm responsible for taking your depositions and questioning and recording your testamony. Also, you may be contacted during your mission by Starfleet security for rebuttle testamony by the defense.

NEMO: I understand. What will we have to do?

SHELTON: Like I said, I have to take your depositions and testmony, so I need to get started as quickly as possible, so I dont' delay you too much, I'm afraid that there will be a slight delay on your departure.

NEMO: I understand, Lt. Send me a schedule and I'll give it to my crew and make them available to you.

SHELTON: Captain, I also have to make an investigation of the ship. Part of our investigation.

NEMO: I understand. I'll have my first officer and security chief work out the details with you.

SHELTON: Thank you, Captain. Shelton out.

For nearly an hour, Markov and Claire circled, swung at each other, blocked and parried. At first, they were swinging at each other quickly, blows coming in a quick rhythum. After a while, though, as each started getting tired, they started slowing down, taking their time to measure each other, to aim carefully their attacks, and to do a lot of circling....

As time went by, while they were circling, they spoke occassionally about themselves. Finally, though, they were too exhausted to either fight or talk. Sweat soaked their outfits, dripped from their foreheads. Finally, Claire circled to the rack from which she had drawn her sword, and resheathed it. Markov then did the same.

Breathing heavily, wiping the sweat from her brow, Claire said:
And you said that you're rusty? You did a great job keeping me from scoring any points...

Markov shrugs... Rrrgghhhh... My dad favorrrgghhit hobby was fencing. Taught me alot. Well... Frrgghencing and hunting...

Claire nods slowly, seeing the look in Markov's eyes, stating that he was thinking back to fond memories.. Reminiscing about some great times.... After several seconds, Claire says: Computer.... Rocky mountains, early spring...

The walls of the castle fade away, replaced by a sloping mountain range, going farther than the eye could see. Markov chuckles as he looks around. Claire walks over to a large rock, sits down and sighes....

Markov walks to a near-by rock and sits down on it. For a long time, they are quiet, just listening to the sounds around them. After a while, Claire looks at her watch and said:
Ahhh.. Markov?

Markov: Rrrgghhhh?

Claire: We're supposed to be at the star base in a few hours.... I know that you will really want to see your niece, so we'd better get going. I know that I need to go to bed myself...

Markov: Mmmmrrrrr... Yeah... Yourrggh right... Both get up to go.

Claire: Ahhh... Markov?

Markov: Yes...

Claire: You haven't really said much about your family... Or, shared with me about that... Ah.... Letter..

Markov nods.... After several seconds... Still thinking about it.... Neverrggh got anything like that... Before..

With hardly a word after that, Claire and Markov exit the holodeck and walk different directions. Both walk, very, very deep in thought. Although not too surprising, both were thinking similar thoughts... About some of the cross words that they had given because of assuming... The long, physical workout that they had... And, some of the few, personal things that they had shared... In a way, they were disappointed that so little was said. But, then again.... Perhaphs that long, hard workout was what they really needed... Perhaphs.....

Each went to their separate rooms, cleaned up and just went to bed. Both contemplated the last several weeks, all that had transpired between each other.... And... The fact that they would be working together for several years go come... Several years... A long time to spend working together...

Working together... That seemed such a strange idea... Hard to accept, since both of them were so used to working primarily on their own. Hard.. But yet... It was starting to seem... To seem almost natural... Why was this so, they both were asking God, in their own, unique way? Why were they here, together? What could You, God, possibly have in store for......

Sleep finally overtook both of them....

Turnel tapped the key pad on the holodeck and the doors opened. Inside, a replicated sea side on the Trill homeworld. Shell stood in silence for a moment.

Shell: The Sea of Longing. It's been years since...

Turnel: I know. I have done some more background checks on the members of this crew. Since I will be serving with you, I needed to become more familiar with all of you. As you can see, I have also taken an interest in your home world, in hopes that it will allow me to better instruct you in the art of diplomacy.

Shell: Ambassador, if I didn't know better...
