I do think that the Smileys that move are pretty cool when all lined up like that.

Thursday night here, after 11pm, and I'm hoping/praying that everyone's doing well. It rained here today, which was unexpected but nice, and I braved the rain and ventured out to the grocery store this morning. It wasn't busy in the store at all, which was a blessing -- it gave me time to peruse the aisles and consult my list and comparison shop for prices. The cashier was friendly and nice, and the bag boy who helped me to my car liked my car, which always makes me smile.

Anyway, tomorrow (Friday) ... my wonderful DH should be working another 12-hour day, so I may not see him until after 10pm. It's forecast to be sunny, and I'm hoping it will be. It's also payday, so my focus will be on getting some online banking done (money transferring and bill paying.) I know these tasks seem simple, but sometimes when I'm stressed, they can seem so complicated, ya know?

Friday afternoon here.

My wonderful DH called ... looks like he'll be doing at least 3 months in Florida and then 4 months in Iraq next year -- and he needs to be in Florida by Jan 1. This will be his seventh deployment to Iraq, if it happens. He also said that Afghanistan is a possibility. I read an article today about troop morale that said, in part, "Troops in their third or fourth deployment reported significantly more acute stress, and among those married, reported significantly more marital problems compared to soldiers on their first or second deployment." Hmmmm ... I wonder why? It would be interesting to see a study done on the morale of spouses.

Harvie, what # deployment does this make?

I always thought that military spouses ought to get medals as well. The constant moves, TDYs, Schools, deployments, the erratic work hours, and just the general stress that goes along with military life is enough to drive a person to drink! (jk about the drinking, but you KWIM)

My heart goes out to you, and I will be praying for you and your family. ((((Harvie))))

Thanks for the hugs ... I am trying not to get too discouraged, dismayed or down about this.

Well, the three months in Florida isn't technically a "deployment" because he's still in the United States ... it's considered TDY (which is short for temporary duty.) He's had countless TDYs during our marriage -- I actually stopped keeping track of them. But he has "done time" in Florida before (that's where USAF Special Ops Headquarters is) ... but this will be a longer stretch.

(sigh)

I've changed my Log-In name from my real first name (Harvie) to the nickname I like to use on the Internet ... Mollymouser. You'll find that I will answer to Harvie or Molly, but my plan is to phase out the "Harvie" and move more towards using Molly. I've altered my signature line during the transition.

I just found this thread a few minutes ago. Cool stuff, especially the smileys and the mousies .

Are any of you familiar with Recovery International, the mental health self-help group founded by the late Dr. Abraham Low? Although not a Christian, his approach to psychotherapy harmonizes well with biblical Christianity, especially his rejection of Freudian and Jungian psychoanalysis. Even though he goes back to the 1930's and 40's, Dr. Low sounds a lot like Dr. James Dobson and Dr. Laura in his belief that adults have the will to make choices and are not hopelessly bound to their cravings or fears. And UN-like Dr. Laura, he doesn't come across as arrogant, smug or self-righteous.

I have OCD and attended quite a few Recovery Intl meetings, as well as read his book "Mental Health through Will Training". It's helped out a lot. Anyone with similar or different experiences?

I look forward to your responses.

Just curious if anyone is familiar with borderline personality disorder?

I am dating a girl with it. She is wonderful, and is in counseling and therapy by godly professionals.

We have talked about it, and I have researched it, so I am familiar.

But, I was wondering if anyone has any personal experience that I can gleam some more wisdom off of?

Hi Richardtrod ... welcome to our cheery little encouragement thread. I'm not familiar with Recovery International, but it sounds interesting. I'm glad that the book and meetings helped your OCD. Perhaps some of the other posters will be familiar with that program.

Hi rawr.ben ... nice to see you again. I have no personal experience with borderline personality disorder, but I recall someone in this thread mentioning that they have it? You might want to read back a bit (or wait for someone to speak up). Good luck with the girl you are dating!

Rawr.Ben ... I read that in the last few weeks or so, so you shouldn't have to read back too far.

Hi everyone!

Harvie, I like your new name and the mousies!

{{{{{{Maggie}}}}}} Still praying for God to give you peace and comfort during this time.

rawr.ben and richartrod, , good to see you both here!

Hello & {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} to everyone else!

I'm just taking a few moments to rest before resuming my housework. I've got company coming in from out of town this next week. Plus, there's the holiday season coming up. Lots of work, too little time. Why didn't God create 48 hour days?

Hi Richard and welcome to the thread.
I have never heard of Recovery International. Sorry.

Hi rawr.ben. I don't know anything about it other than what I've read in this thread.

Hi Melissa. Housework is yucky unless it's all done.

I talked to Maggie a few hours ago. She sounds really good. She had much of her family over and I could hear them singing It is Well. They sing very well! Maggie says to say hi to everyone.

I would've posted earlier, but my computer got hijacked by a bunch of teenagers.
