Marriage - barring certain things like adultery or abuse - is a wonderful thing and well worth any troubles it brings. Thing is, many seem not to have much patience for it any more and give up long before exceptions like abuse and adultery. I can remember a coworker back in college (they were in their late 20's or early 30's) who divorced - seriously - over how he squeezed the toothpaste and put the TP on the roller. That still just boggles my mind.

That said, divorce - especially where there rally was love - does fester a long time...so getting help and support with the healing is wise.

Limulus, congrats on the sobriety. That's a tough step to make.

Roberta - guess that worked out well, when do you see her next?

Me? Well, I picked up another neurological diagnosis - chiari malformation. You can read more here if you want to know about it - but it involves how the brain fits in your head or something along those lines. Oh, and I finally made phone contact with a local DV place who told me to start by talking to the Social Security OIG and see what's up with my payee complaint and request to be my own payee (boy was this an interesting call - to make it a short story, I should have gotten decisions or at the very least requests for more info on both long ago and there were many issues raised by what I had to say on the phone).

I'm doing better tonight. I've been wanting to stay at home these past few days due to feeling depressed and eating so much food, I just don't feel like doing anything. The icky, cold rainy weather hasn't helped any. Now at least, I know what part of the problem is, it's the female thing. I also have SAD (seasonal affective disorder).

I'm getting some laundry done, studied God's Word and posted my latest "Who Am I" devotional in my blog today, so I'm feeling much better. I plan to go to bed and spend some quality time in Bible reading tonight.

I am going to apply at a couple places next week, just in case the November job doesn't happen. Could use some prayer, thank you.

Does anyone else have a problem with sleep paralysis? I remember reading schizophrenia is somehow connected. I usually have it once a week, it's pure torture. Had it twice this past week. The last time was a few minutes ago, I couldn't wake up for anything. It's terrible trying to move, but you kinda get a phantom limb type of feeling. My eyes were open, I could clearly see that I wasn't moving. Eventually I said, "God...please wake me up." Then I woke up immediately. Very frightening.

Nice to see you again, everythingat. Sleep paralysis can be a sleep disorder or a sign of one. If it's happened more than a time or 2, you might want to make sure your doc knows - though that might result in a referral for a sleep study.

I failed with alcohol last night. Fell off the wagon or whatever they call it. Sober Oct. 6 to Oct. 27. The war is not over, though I lost that single battle. Need prayer to stop drinking, the drinking didn't help anyway. I have severe nightmares most every night, whether I am drinking or not. I am really hurting emotionally right now, I just woke up and started crying, knowing that I failed again and the nightmares. Oh what I would give to be normal again, whatever that is.

I'm new to this thread, I think today is the first time I noticed the title to come check it out. Limulus, you are in my prayers. We are about to begin a program at our church for those battling addictions. We've never had anything like that at our church but with so many hurting people in the world and many of them battling things that most of us don't even understand, we want to try this.

I've battled depression off and on for years after being in an abusive relationship so I understand the need for good mental health and the consequences of not having it.

hmm..... I thought I was subbed to it.

Limulus- I know that it's hard when you slip. You're in my prayers.

Hi DeeAnn- I'm glad you found us. I pray that your church will have success with the new ministry. Is it something like Celebrate Recovery?

I'm not sure, I'm going to a meeting next Sunday to learn about it and what it will entail. I'll let you know.

Limulus, a lost battle is not a lost war and we often have backwards steps. We learn from them, get up and continue the war. DON'T GIVE UP!!! You can do this.

Thank you for the encouragement all. I have a praise. God put a very good friend back into my life, I missed her a lot. She didn't give up on me.

I'm having a battle with nasty negative thoughts right now. It seems like I get these thoughts when I'm reading God's Word or at church. I've started a thread about it in the Faithwalk folder.

{{{{{{{{Melissa}}}}}}}}

I'm totally drained. I'm into my fourth week of being on call 24 hours a day for my son. I had to call the Mobile Crisis Unit Monday night. The safe house he was taken to was more harm than help and so he's back home and I'm his lifeline.

Melissa and Maggie, you are both in my prayers. It seems that all Christians are facing such battles today. I know that our Lord is faithful and I pray He will show His faithfulness, love and compassion to you today!

No nightmares for the last two nights...
Due to abuse in my past, I have had nightmares for about the past 10 years. My friend An contacted me the other day, we talked on the phone... I have not had nightmares for the past 2 nights. This appears to have broken a nightmare cycle that I have experienced for about the last month.

I was praying before I went to bed last night. Thoughts were rushing through my head about my life and my friend An. God reminded me of several things.

1. To trust Him.
1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Philippians 4:6-7 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

2. To trust my friend. An attribute of Love...
1 Corinthians 13:7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

3. Don't worry.
Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I then had a tremendous peace come over me. It must have been the Holy Spirit. Also, me being able to let go of burdens that I created, those burdens causing stress in my life. I came to the realization once again that I need to just give it ALL to God.

[Verses posted are from the New International Version bible.]

womaninChrist, I looked up sleep paralysis. There's medication for it, but I don't have insurance...however...I will soon!

Disability had sent me a letter requesting me to call them to answer some questions. I was annoyed that I had to call them for the thousandth time, and I've had bad mood swings for the past week...so I hesitated. Called them today, and the woman told me that I had been approved! I have an appointment tomorrow to get everything in order, then I will officially be getting the check! I've been on cloud nine all day. I was not expecting that at all. Thanks for everyone's prayers! This is the most wonderful news I've had in so long...can finally take a step towards being independent. And not jut that...can finally get a psych. Have to pay the lawyer, even though he only contributed his name. That's probably what got it for me.

The next few days are going to be very stressful at our house. My daughter is going through a divorce and the final hearing is Tuesday (election day - the day MANY things will be decided- how ironic). Her soon to be ex is abusive and as made several threats to harm her, the baby the rest of our family. We have taken precautions but the closer the day gets the more anxious we tend to become.

I know we shouldn't worry but we are human.
