Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend? Didja shop? As for me, I was off Saturday (YAY!) but had to work Friday evening (BOO!) lol. Sunday was kinda busy at work. As for shopping, we want to try to get everything done asap. Not that we are spending much on gifts this year though. Whatever we will spend we'd like to get it out of the way.

Today I have learned how making emotional decisions can teach us to grow even more in the L-rd. The consequences of emotional decision making can be either big or small. But either way, it increases our capacity to grow in Him.

Question of the day: How has making an emotional decision on your part cause you to grow?

Hi Deb! An emotional decision is when you decide on something based purely on emotion. It lacks wisdom or is something that you didn't really think through well enough. For example, the elections. I am sure that there were many out there that voted for Obama out of sheer emotion (he would be the first black President and that just feels so great!). That's a very broad example though. It can also be very personal.

Thanks Ed!

Hey there island peeps! (looks around to see if I am talking to myself. lol) I hope you are having a blessed day. I have the day off. Will most likely clean around the house till lunchtime and then spend the afternoon getting into the Word.

Does anyone want to answer yesterday's question of the day? I suppose I should extend my answer. I think we all have been there in terms of making decisions based mostly or purely on emotion. Dating is a really good example. But basically what makes us feel good or feel sad even is often the premise of our decision making. Food is another common example. It tastes so good and makes us feel good when really what we eat sometimes is obviously not good for us. Whether a very common example or a not-so-common example it is very much a part of our lives. And I think too we often confuse the Holy Spirit for feelings. This is why it's soooo important to have a balance between seeking the HS and seeking wisdom. But the great thing is that G-d is always right there with you and the conviction you feel (not guilt) is rather encouraging. G-d is so good and so loving in that respect...in all respects.

Ponders...

Listening to Dennis Prager so excuse my pauses. lol.

It's rainy this morning. Nice but I sure would love the humidity to tone down a bit. I actually feel like taking a drive today. The North Shore is supposed to have 20-30 ft waves today. Hmm. Maybe. It depends how fast I can clean and get ready.

I'd say the Holy Spirit speaks through Scripture. If He's really leading, there will be Scripture backing up that leading, and it won't be Scripture taken out of context. When I was praying about marrying John, I looked at whether or not his character and theology lined up with Scripture. On a few points, I had to challenge him, even saying I couldn't marry him till he adjusted those points. It would have been so easy to ignore them and rush into marriage, but I would have been sorry. If we trust that Scripture is God's final Word, we're safe.

A good balance is what's needed. Being a guy, often the logic side of the brain tends to dominate decisions. But one also needs to be open to the Spirit. I do make emotional decisions at times, especially when it comes to helping people. That's why it's good to have members of an oversite committee who I can draw upon for experience and advice.

The same is especially true in marriage. My wife has a very good head on her shoulders. She gives insight to me that would otherwise be lacking. Between the two of us, our marriage has a good decision making process.

You know, while I don't believe man and wife complete each other, I do realize that they certain can compliment each other. That is why G-d made women in the first place right? lol But really, for what strength each one has may they use that strength to bless their spouse.

Tonight is rather simple. Pork and beans with turkey hot dogs.

Happy middle of the week island peeps!

Oh. That sounds good Terri. How are you?

Back to work today. My schedule has been different this week. I work today and then I'm off again tomorrow. What should I do? lol But last night was interesting. John and I were watching tv and then all of a sudden we heard a small explosion and the lights went out. The transformer on our street blew out. Boy did it startle me. Eeek! lol It wasn't too long though. They got it up and running again in just about an hour (I think). But we got to use our crank flashlight. How does work anyway? Anyone know? No batteries. Just crank it up and bam...you have a working flashlight.

Cool! Maybe Ray knows how those things work. Oh Ray?

This is not good. I am getting up later and later in the mornings. Hehe I don't want this habit really. I really want to wake up earlier and make breakfast before John leaves for work. Days off are not too bad but I really don't want to get up at 9.

You know I was watching a segment on Good Morning America one day. And the had there student who had invented, inventions . Anyhoo, one of theses students had invented an alarm clock that rolled. Therefore the alarm clock would roll off you beside table and onto (or is it on to?) the floor all the while beeping away...

Now that would be irritating indeed. lol I still would turn the thing off and jump right back in bed though. Ha.

Work one day and off again. Oy. I'm thinking of driving around and take photos. There's a canon contest for amateur photos. The theme has to be, "A perfect day in Hawaii. I think a photo during sunrise would be nice but can I wake up that early? lol I'm thinking a shot of something with dew on it with the sun out would be nice. Here in Hawaii it's very typical for it to be sunny but with light passing shower (drizzle). Or I may be creative and do a "what if" photo. It wouldn't be real but it would be creative for sure. I'm thinking a what if Hawaii had seasons photo. That would be kinda cool. I don't think it would be lame at all. Some people might think that it's not good cause it wouldn't be real but that's why it's called a "what if" photo right? Of course I will need that photoshop program to do this.

Even if it doesn't shower a little tomorrow I could fake it by spraying with a water bottle. Hmm.

Ugh. I am sooo wanting to change my work situation more than ever. For the holidays we HAVE to be flexible since we lost a sales consultant. I've been working Friday evenings AND Saturdays. Can't go to church! I will just have to be very patient until at least March when we move location. Why March? Well...as much as I church and having the Sabbath off is a major PRIORITY, I think G-d will be pleased if I stuck it through and be of help to the company. Going part time in January will really put the store in a bind. Two months is a sacrifice I am willing to make. It would be a goodwill if I waited just a little longer. Of course, once March comes around, I am just excited to see how G-d will shift things. It's not a matter of if but how and when really. Cause I truly believe that G-d will find favor to opening the doors to us having the complete Sabbath off.

Question of the Day: There are commands in the OT for the Jewish people that G-d didn't require for us Gentiles to HAVE to follow. If G-d required Gentiles to follow certain commands, which commands would you want G-d to make us follow? (keep in mind that Jewish believers in Christ are required to keep certain commandments for all generations. The only command G-d gave to Gentiles really in the NT is to love Him and to love others as yourself. And while we are partakers and have been grafted in, we are still not obligated to certain OT biblical commands)

Looking forward to your answers!

Inside the flashlight is a small generator. When you turn the handle, it turns the generator and electricity is produced. That electricity is stored inside a capacitor and discharged through the lightbulb.

I just have to say i'm so proud of myself. I have been Miss Little Over Achiever today. I did all of my laundry and put it away (thats HUGE for me), made 2 cheesecakes, helped make sausage balls, took Mom to physical therapy, grocery shopping and still had time to laze out for a bit this afternoon. I painted my toenails too! LOL
