Trishy, Okay, I've seen a nurse shark from about 20 ft. away. I've swam in a sting ray area where you feed them from your palm. So few people actually get hurt from the sealife if they are edikated. You learn to watch where you step. You touch very little as the coral dies easily. And most of the critters are more scared of you than you are scared of them. Trishy, Promise me you at least will go snorkeling without me. I mean, honey, you live in HAWAII!!! That one is so easy. You don't need fancy equip or exp training like scuba diving. Okay, I won't deduct points. But what if I tell you that you weigh less underwater! That is a cool thought for dieters! Love ya chickie, Lori

((((((Lori, Trish, Brian, Rach, pruned, Randy, Ms.O, Eric, Brian, everyone!))))))) There's a few people that I haven't seen in awhile on the island. Missin you! How is everyone today. Yawn' Another sleepy morning for me. Nothing really different happening with me lately. My praise is that I get to slowly meet more people here on CW everyweek. I've been slack on my prayer life for the past week though. What a difference it makes I hate hate beng complacent. The sin of lazyness just loves to creep in on you at an opportune time. It all starts with sleeping too late one night and the pattern starts. Before you know it, it leads to sleeping late every night to not waking up as early as I can, to being too sleepy in the morning to pray, to not balancing everything right, etc... I WILL overcome this hump. That's my other praise for today. Well, I though I would do something different today. Since we all can relax pretty well here on the sand, how about we talk about something? The one thing that has been on my heart lately is to really get serious about my spiritual gifts, my talents, and my strengths. I don't just want to know them, I want to really make a goal to use them and know that I am using them. It's awesome how God calls you through His Holy Spirit and at the same time, gives us room to use wisdom and make certain decisions in life. With that said, what are your gifts and talents? I ask for both because we can use both in our work for the Lord. Do you know what they are and if so, how do you use them?

Ok... I'll kick in .... I'm an encourager.... I've known since about 1994.... although at that time I didn't have the life experiences and finesse that I needed in order to do it well... I kinda stumbled along 'til things clicked.... I'm still not that great at it... but I really enjoy pointing people to Christ. I'm also some sort of writer... don't claim greatness there, either. But people have told me that I'm able to convey thoughts, ideas, and stories clearly... I also love and enjoy music... played alto sax for 6 years, dabbled in piano, flute, and have an acoustic guitar that I attempt to teach myself every so often!

I am sure people have asked you this but ever consider writing a book and publishing it? Trishy.... I've been asked... right now I feel like I'm in training for something, and the blog is a big part of that.... This sounds silly... but my blog was not my idea.... it was Gods.... I think if I wrote a book... I'd like to play around with writing a devotional for new christians.... I just have new Christians on my heart lately....

Yes, Trishy, you're an encourager. I recently took another spiritual gift inventory. Once again, prophecy shows as my strongest gift. I perceive that to mean this: A prophet is one who speaks God's words, regardless of the reactions of the listeners. Sometimes those words are a foretelling of the future, but often it's just good wisdom - a natural consequence follows behavior. I scored lowest in Mercy. I think that's because prophets have to say what God directs them to say regardless of how it makes others feel. I don't mean that prophets are intentionally mean, just that they don't consider other people's feelings/reactions first. Many times, I have spoken something that might have hurt someone's feelings, but God was dealing with them about the issue. If I had been resistant to saying something for fear of hurting them, they wouldn't have heard the word God had for them that day. So, how do I use this gift of prophecy? - Sometimes I speak or teach, sometimes I write, sometimes I post on CW!

(paddling to shore on a surfboard even though I have no idea how!) Trishy, Wow! That was so cool! I had to wait to post so that I would have some uninterrupted moments here on your sunny beach. I'm not sure that I know you well enough to tell you what I think of your spiritual gifts. Maybe a little encouraging, little hospitality, and possibly admin (that one is hard to tell over the internet.) What do you like to do for God? How would you choose to serve Him? I will rank my gifts according to strength down to weakness. They are something like this: Administration, Teaching, Encouragment, singing, and mercy. In most of the others I am fairly weak. I do believe with all my heart that "For we are weak and He is strong." IMHO That means as we grow to resemble Christ more and more as we mature, the heart of a true believer will radiate all of His gifts to His glory. A mature Christian is so well rounded that it is so very difficult to see the weaker gifts as God wills to raise up faithful men and women for His calling. I have seen such a diff in my spiritual gifting through my spiritual life. We are commanded to pray. We are commanded to teach. We are commanded to encourage others. We are commanded to speak God's word. We are commanded to love one another as Christ loved us. I believe that we shall strive to improve each area, strong and weak, so that none may see a crack in my fortress of faith. Satan is searching for those cracks. Now I am not saying we have to be a perfect 10 in each gift, I just believe it is a continual process of transformation. My pet peeve is when someone says to me, "Oh, that is not my spiritual gift." as an excuse. Be encouraged in the Lord, Trishy, He is not finished with your peice of silver just yet! quote:
Micah 3:3 He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver... Dear, let him refine you, his most precious metal, over and over and over again, subjecting you to the hottest fire because such fires melt the metal and only the molten mass releases its alloy or takes perfectly its new form in the mould. The old refiner never leaves his crucible, but sits down by it, lest there should be one excessive degree of heat to mar the metal. He inspects the temperature often keeping the silver pourable. The refiner makes one last check as he peers into the pot of suffering. But as soon as he skims from the surface the last of the dross, and sees not Trishy, but his own face reflected, he puts out the fire. from a blend of me and Arthur T. Pierson In refining silver as a mirror of Christ, I pray God will strengthen your weaknesses and utilize all your strengths to the glory of His will. I hope that gives you some encouragement! Now you truly know the meaning of what I mean when I always say: May others see Christ in you! Lori

Trishy, I really don't know what my gifts are yet. I'm only 5 months in my walk with Christ. I truely feel love and compassion in my heart for others. It is a strong feeling. I also can fix just about anything that is broken most of the time. I have a very strong urge to bring people to Christ. In my words " share the beauty and peace in my life with others.....I want everybody to have what I recieved from Christ and the Holy Spirit." When it comes to the matter of heart, I feel compelled to reach out. So, if anyone has any ideas or insite, please let me know.
