Oh, crikey! A hair thread!!! (I'm sure John_O will be reading this one with great interest!! )

Define short. Define long.

Let's see. *taking hair down from ponytail 'do*

The longest bits are down to a bit past the middle of my back. Would you consider that long?

I have bits that are shoulder length and bits that are quite short and like to stand up and wave "hehlerw" in the humidity or wind.

I attempted to give myself layers that frame my face. (My mother laughed and told me I ought to go to a professional to get it cut. moms...)

This is a very subjective question, but for the case of argument, short short hair, just below the ears. Long, shoulders or below. Really long, down to the middle back or lower.

Very long. Not cut for the last seven years--so it's down past my waist. Only dh gets to see it.

By that definition mine is very long; but I consider it medium length.
Right now it's past the middle of my back and by May it should be just below my waist so I'll chop it off to shoulder length (short for me).

In other words: it's short-ish every 18-24 months and then grows back to really long.

just a bit longer than shoulder length. M'love likes long hair. Otherwise I would wear it short or chin length.

Short.

If I pulled it back I could have a 2 inch ponytail.

I wore it long all my adult life, but age is making it wispy. So, short it is... and turning silver fast. I like that.

On St. Patricks Day I may dye it orange...

Short hair. i think that generally women past a certain age (as I am, in my 50's ) look better with short hair.I did try to grow mine a coupe of years ago but my children informed me that It suited me better short and I agreed. It made me look older when I grew it a bit.

Really short and I love it!! Above my ears.
About 2 years ago it was down to my hips, and then I started having it cut shorter and shorter.
My husband didn't mind so much me getting it cut, it has been my children that have a hard time with it.. I just don't look like Mama now!!

Mine is medium-long (past my shoulders). This is the first time since I was a little girl that it's been this long. My hair is blonde and very fine, so it's hard to get it to this point, but now that it is here, I'll probably leave it this length or longer.

My hair is long. It's just made it to my bra strap, but I will be getting it trimmed this week, I think. Just a bit, to help it grow nicer.

Short. My hair is so fine that if it gets longer than my jawline, it hangs too heavy and straight to style and looks horrible.

Right now it's about an inch below my shoulders. I usually like it about an inch above but I'm having a hair crisis and can't decide what new style I want.

After years of having hair down to my waist I prefer the change.

I have short hair ... but it's longer than my wonderful DH's hair (who is in the military and has a buzz cut.)

Long-ish, I guess, just about shoulder length. (Picture in profile.)

I'd like to keep it short, but it just doesn't work with the way my hair grows. It ends up sticking out in weird places.

herestoresmysoul, I hear ya about the age thing. I'm growing out all the lengths so I can wear it back in a modified ponytail type thing. Eventually I'd like to wear it twisted up. A la Olivia Walton.
