I don't have a Wii, but my brother does. He brought it to our family Christmas party last year. It was a blast! Just like anything else though, the novelty wears off. I've been considering getting one to help with exercising through the winter. The price has come down some in the past several months.

Depends on what you're looking for. I like my Wii, and I'd probably play it a lot more if I didn't have a gaming PC. There are some really good games that have come our recently, or are coming out soon, for "old school" gamers (most notably "A Boy and His Blob" and "New Super Mario Bros Wii"). I may not be able to stay away much longer.

ORIGINAL: figmentPez Depends on what you're looking for. That's really the only answer. I have one and it was fun at first, but IMO, it's kind of gimmicky and the appeal wore off quickly. The motion control may be better with the newer add-on, but the original controllers were pretty disappointing. I know everybody loved Wii Sports, but I found it to be rather frustrating, because of the inconsistency of the controls. At least with a regular controller, a button press is a button press. Also, there seems to be a higher ratio of bad games-to-good games on the Wii than there is on other consoles. That said, I really like Mario Kart Wii. -Dan.

I'm not such a fan. I owned one for about half a year and ended up selling it from boredom. It's a very interesting idea, but it often doesn't translate well. Most of the games are pretty terrible. I bought a Playstation 3 a little over a year ago and haven't looked back. I'm very happy with it.

I think it also depends on what kind of games you want to play. I think it is great for families and has a lot more games that are rated E. My son just bought our first non-Nintendo gaming system because Wii didn't have the games he was interested in playing anymore.

We have the Wii and the Wii Fit. I really do like it - we buy sports or exercise games. Its fun and easy. I am a tech and a website developer so I dont like to play games on the computer. I work with pc's so much. It keeps me active and its fun for my husband and I to relax together. We also play with it with family. We have had it since Black Friday 2008.

We don't have a game system. Wait, I take that back - FIL brought us the old Atari 2600 a couple of weeks ago! One brother has a Wi and he and his kids have a blast with it. The other brother has PS3 and has had a bear of a time finding anything his almost 5 year old can play with him, much less on her own. So if you are looking for the family/kid games I'd say go for it. We want one, just hasn't made the budget cut yet. Kris

Wii is not for big time gamers... and that, IMHO, it the biggest reason for its popularity. Love the Wii Fit, and Big Game Hunter.

ORIGINAL: trelawrence Wii is not for big time gamers. I must disagree. There are very good games on the Wii for serious gamers, especially those looking for some nostalgia. If I hadn't had to replace my PC last year when it died, or hadn't been able to afford a good graphics card when I did, I'd be playing Wii constantly. As it is I've gone with the PC versions of Tales of Monkey Island, Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People and World of Goo, but I would have definitely gotten those on Wii if my PC couldn't handle them. PC titles aside, I'm definitely going to be grabbing New Super Mario Bros. Wii at some point, and probably A Boy and His Blob as well. If I had unlimited time to play games I'd put Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, the Bit.Trip series, the Metroid Prime series, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years and quite a few other games on my list as well. The Wii has plenty to offer big time gamers.
