I think you made the right decision too. Also Brian has to understand that's it not the best thing if he gets sick either. And with the little ones. This stuff is really tough on little ones! We had neighbors whose 14 month old spent pretty much all of a week with her grandma because her mom and siblings all got sick the same week Ethan was sick.
We got the kids signed up for basketball last night too. We were offered a full scholarship for both Ethan and Zoe. All I have to do is help out a few Saturdays in the concessions flipping burgers and popping popcorn. I can do that! Brian's going to help out with Ethan's team this year I think.
Tomorrow is Brian's birthday. We are celebrating with his folks tomorrow at their place in town. We'll go over after Zoe's dance class. I'm just thrilled that we ALL can go again!

Donna, I'm sorry that Nick got sick. Bad timing for y'all, not that it is ever a good time to get sick I've noticed. If he has H1N1 like we think N did and acts like he did he will be sleeping and laying in bed all day tomorrow anyway and most of the next day so like you said it wouldn't be fun anyway.
From last page I think, Debilyn, that was such a sweet comment from your daughter to your son!
We survived R's 6th birthday party. She invited her class (18, including her), plus 2 other little friends, we had 12 kids here. Thankfully they could go play outside for a while; it was beautiful here today. The best moment of the party was when R said "I wish K.C. were here. My daughter K said "who?" R said "K.C." K said "she is sitting right next to you!" R said "Oh," and smiled happily. She hadn't seen her since this summer. R said her voice has changed, and she has grown up a lot recently. I thought maybe she'd seen her at Fall Fanfare on Halloween, but maybe not. I asked her who she thought was sitting next to her and she said B's little sister.
One little boy who couldn't come to the party called during the party to wish R a happy birthday! I thought that was sweet.
Thankfully I have a 15yo that was a big help during the party, and my 12yo helped with dishes afterward.

Dee, I miss little kid birthday parties. We use to have them at home and they were so much fun.
Garsy, don't be discouraged, but I'd be careful because you're looking at this from a whole different perspective than the school board. They see her as a liabliity. Ds had a math teacher in jr hi that everyone loved and she was fired for taking too many days off. I'm sure simpathy is the last thing the school board thinks about. They need to have a teacher there all the time and that's their goal.
Dd had to pick a book off the "banned books list" to do a speech on and say whether or not it should or shouldn't be banned. The list is interesting.

Donna, it really was probably best he didn't get to come over, what with Brian's resistance down and all. And you are right, when a kid is sick, he wants his mom, no matter what she is like.

If I remember correctly we were required to read Go Ask Alice when I was in high school. I could not remember it's content (other than sadness) so I went to book reviews. The book contains a lot of sex scenes...in this story of drug addiction.

Yesterday, DeeDee's Cadette Troop hosted a Veterans Day Program.
There were 13 non-scouts there. 
It was sunny and 70° in Western PA and everyone else was elsewhere. Three of the members of the troop didn't come, one without notice, one with last minute notice to another scout. No calls to the leader, no 'could you cover for my part?'
I'm very proud of my troop for getting up and doing a program for an empty room - that is tough too.

Hi all!
We are dragging this week, R was just at the classroom door as the bell rang yesterday, and only a couple of minutes earlier today.
K called and asked me to bring her Spanish book to school, so I dropped that by after I walked R to school. We live close enough that it's not a big deal, not that I want to make a habit of that.
It is Cowboy Joe week here. The senior class votes to determine candidates, then you have campaign week and the whole school votes. You drive down the main street of our town and see signs like "Joe for Joe" or "Bob for Joe" in yards. The candidates host parties at their homes; that was last night. K told me she wanted to go. I told her she could go to T's party because I know his parents well. She got permission to go to another party from her dad as well, and she came home and told me that that kid had ditched his own party. Anybody else's school have anything like that? I told K I found the process slightly disturbing. I read a school paper article once about the history of this week, but I can't remember how it got started or why.
It is nerd day today at the high school; I gave K an old pair of E's glasses to wear; they were broken so she was going to need to tape them together with electrical tape.   She took the stuff to school so hopefully she got that done. Tomorrow is "random pattern day" and friday is Cowboy day. My mom gave K a pair of my dad's cowboy boots; interestingly enough they fit pretty well. My dad had narrow feet, I think that helped. K had really been wanting a pair of cowboy boots lately, so that was nice. N has a pair too, that he will eventually grow out of, and E got a pair also.

We're like that too this week. The kids have off today, but the elementary does not have the day off. I find that kind of backward? We don't have a Cowboy Joe thing here, but the seniors do have Mr. Saxon night. Guys perform skits and the like to see who's got the most school spirit.

I have never heard of such a thing.
Linz's play is this week. Thurs for the elementary, then Friday, Sat, and Sun performances. Tonight is dress rehersal. She said a bunch of kids were crying last night because they are not ready. She has gone to almost every rehearsal, but most of the kids didn't. I guess I'll see on Sunday how it goes.

A day off in the middle of the week? That is different. And yeah, the big kids need to be in school if the little kids are! Mr. Saxon night sounds interesting.
Kath, I hope the play goes well for them. Our school play was last week; someone in it told K not to go opening night because people had been missing practices and they weren't ready. She did go opening night anyway, and it was fine. One scene did get cut short because somebody forgot some lines, but not a big deal.

Ty says he HOPES everyone is ready for tomorrow night's opening performance here. I'm just ready for it to all be over. We were going to attend opening night, but now the grandparents want to go Friday instead. Either one worked for us.
The sub art teacher has given me a project. She wants the whole student body to do a similar holiday stocking project with varying degrees of difficulty based on grade level. So between her and I we are coming up with ideas. I spent the entire day getting my ideas ready! I sure hope she likes them and we can pull them off! I might be at school everyday for the week and a half before Christmas break just helping out in Art to get theses done! Then we'll display all of these the 3 weeks before Christmas break. Kind of a welcome for the new art teacher, whomever that might be.
Aryn and Ty are both struggling to bring up really bad grades they started out the quarter with. Ty has only one grade below acceptable levels now and Aryn still had two, but she's working very hard to get those grades up. I just can't cut them any slack at all this term. Ty CAN'T get anything lower than a C+ or he will lose this scholarship opportunity he has. They've got 5 weeks to get them up and while it can be done, it's not going to be easy.

Best of luck on those plays, folks. Sometimes folks are ready, and sometimes they're not. And sometimes there are folks backstage going over lines until just before their cue ...

Kylie, do you go to school year round or do you have Summers off> I know you seasons are opposite ours, right?
Kath, hope the play goes well , Garsy too. Winter play (tech stuff) has started, but there's not alot of work for both kids so ds has been coming home at the on time.
Garsy, are u ok wiht the sub art teacher? I hope I didn't sound like I a mom earlier when I comment on your situation.

I went on that site that's like Cliff Notes and didn't see anything I'd object to. She is 16 after all.
