Hello, everyone. I have wondered what Jesus was really like as Man when He was here on earth. Did he ever have colds? Did he ever move His bowels? Did He ever have a headache? Forgive me for asking this question:Did Jesus as Man ever have an erection? I appreciate your points of view. Thank you very much.

If he ever did, he would've just healed himself. ; ) I kid, I kid. I don't have any biblical support for this notion, but I think he chose to endure some sicknesses to empathize with us when we are sick.

No need to ask for forgiveness. Assuming your profile information is accurate, I'm sure that as a fellow dude, you know that sometimes erections just, well, happen. This is especially the case in the first few years after puberty hits. I am certain Jesus never had an erection as the result of lustful thinking, but I'm also sure he had times of unsinful arousal. Jesus was tempted in every way we are, and I think all of us here can agree that our sexual nature often provides a myriad of temptations. Jesus faced all that too.

These are all good questions.

The fact that you worded your question as you did "Forgive me for asking.." shows that we are much more comfortable with Jesus as Divinity and not so much with Jesus as humanity.

He was 100% man and 100% God. We should be equally comfortable with both.

Yes yes yes and yes. People often forget that Christ was a guy, a dude, a man, flesh and blood, human...he had all the same body parts, all the same capabilities, etc.

Hey, here's another question. Did Jesus go through puberty? Did He find girls attractive? Did He have adolescent crushes? Did his pre-adolescent pubertal hormones affect Him? Did He have zits?

OF COURSE!!!! And might I add, AMEN! [:D]

I don't really know because Jesus was very unique. He was both a man and a God. He also knew how tough his ultimate mission was. So I can't answer the question because I don't have enough information. What do you think sept0409?

Amen, DaveW! It's great to fully agree with you on one of the most neglected issues of Christology in the modern church, IMO. This nonsensical concept that physical existence in human flesh and bones is somehow sinful is flat out wrong. Sin is willful disobedience to the known Will of God and Jesus NEVER sinned. He did spill His milk, stub His toe, mismeasure a beam of lumber, choke on His food, and even occasionally notice a pretty girl. None of these are sinning, then or now.

Probably true.

Still the Bible can't tell us everything about him and maybe that's a good thing.

Even Jesus deserved a little privacy.

This may be partially true, but if we really don't know if these things happen, we are in danger of preaching heresies about something we know nothing about.

Pretty soon we will see a break up of "milk spill" and "non milk spill" denominations. And each will accuse each other of false teaching.

Okay, WQ, you sure throw that "heresies" word around loosely! Let's see what we do know about Jesus. He failed to tell his parents where he was, causing them great anxiety (Luke 2:43-48). He made His fellow churchmen furious (Luke 4 :28). He left people in need without helping all of them (Luke 4:42 and 5:16). He broke cultural rules of His society (Luke 6:6-11). He fell asleep when His friends were in danger (Luke 8:23) and then chastised His friends for their fear (Luke 8:25-26). He berated people, including religious leaders, with insults (Luke 9:41, 11:37-54). Why, Jesus even questioned God's Will to the point of anguish (Luke 22:42-44).

So, is that enough to know that Jesus was fully human just like us, WQ?

I failed to see how making other furious, not helping all, breaking cultures, falling asleep, etc... is a definition of a human being. What the Church teaches is that Jesus is 100% God and 100% human, it is we who lost our humanity.

Heresy? I guess with the Western mentality, it conjures up terrible things like persecution, burning at the stake, hanging, etc... Heresy is simply a different opinion than what was already established. If it is too scary I can say unorthodox instead.

Walter, I'm sorry you're not getting the point of this thread. No one is "defining humanity" by the things we do or Jesus did while here on earth.
