I like the part where they state he has been awarded the prize for his commitment to nuclear disarmament and world peace. I have seen beauty queens who have stated the same thing, why don't they get the award?

You could turn it around and say that the favor he's found in the eyes of a bunch of socialist Swedes is a harbinger of the coming Socialist nightmare he's going to bring forth upon us.

-Dan.

Except i am not into worrying about him socializing this country, there are protections in place and if he pushes too hard he won't have but 4 years to try. I am not one of the scared of the boogie man nutjobs.

I think your comparison to a beauty queen is better than iluvavatar's socialist Swede, but in effect, he is a mix of the two I think.

A co-worker just came in and I asked him if he heard the news.

It took me a while to convince him it wasn't a joke.

Considering how far he has set back race relations in this country it's totally absurd that he won the Nobel Peace Prize. Oh well another once laudable institution has gone done the toilet.

Charlie Gibson, Katie Couric, Brian Williams, George Stephonopolus, and Keith Olberman will be simply ecstatic over this.
The cheerleaders are probably revving up right now for their beaming broadcasts. No doubt it will be their top stories.

Oh not to mention Chris Mathews , I'm sure he will get another "thrill" over this.

Meanwhile in another part of the world, while the prez basks in the accolades of his adoring world community.....

rest assured there will be no tribute to the fallen soldier like they ran constantly in the last year of the Bush presidency.

Thanks for the link letusreason.
It's disturbing but a need to know what is reality.

The enemy knows "we" are absorbed with ourselves
and knows our "leader" is waffling while they make
their moves.

Well at least we know why he didn't send more troops as requested by his general. We aren't looking to win the war in Afghanistan, just there to keep the peace.

OK now I am really confused. The nomination process for the nobel requires that entries be in by Feb 1 of 2009 and according to Nobel's will the award is to be given in recognition for accomplishments of the preceding year.

Here is a list of his "accomplishments" in his 12 days in office that made him deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize:

quote:

How to Win the Nobel Peace Prize In 12 Days

January 20: Sworn in as president. Went to a parade. Partied.

January 21: Asked bureaucrats to re-write guidelines for information requests. Held an “open house” party at the White House.

January 22: Signed Executive Orders: Executive Branch workers to take ethics pledge; re-affirmed Army Field Manuel techniques for interrogations; expressed desire to close Gitmo (how’s that working out?)

January 23: Ordered the release of federal funding to pay for abortions in foreign countries. Lunch with Joe Biden; met with Tim Geithner.

January 24: Budget meeting with economic team.

January 25: Skipped church.

January 26: Gave speech about jobs and energy. Met with Hillary Clinton. Attended Geithner's swearing in ceremony.

January 27: Met with Republicans. Spoke at a clock tower in Ohio.

January 28: Economic meetings in the morning, met with Defense secretary in the afternoon.

January 29: Signed Ledbetter Bill overturning US Supreme Court decision on lawsuits over wages. Party in the State Room. Met with Biden.

January 30: Met economic advisers. Gave speech on Middle Class Working Families Task Force. Met with senior enlisted military officials.

January 31: Took the day off.

February 1: Skipped church. Threw a Super Bowl party.

So there you have it. The short path to the Nobel Peace Prize: Party, go to meetings, skip church, release federal funding to pay for abortions in foreign countries, party some more.

I wish that were the truth. The fact is that our Constitutional limitations for our government have been systematically disbanded over the past several decades. The Constitution has practically been rendered null and void. I think if one watches the news, or does his/her own research, it should be obvious. On top of that, the Communist in Chief has the power to declare martial law, and in effect grand himself dictatorial powers.

Bush's Martial Law Plan Is So Shocking, Even Congress Can't See it

Swine Flu: Path to Martial Law?

I know, I know. I am a nutjob and all that. I know I'm not supposed to give facts unless they come from a special group of people's approved list websites. And I know that the sites given here are not on that list, so you should just completely ignore the information given within. blah blah blah.

But let me get back on topic, here. If they are going to give The One this "honor" (if that's what you want to call it) for systematically destroying our country from the inside and handing over our sovereignty to the United Nations, then I think Clinton and Bushes I and II should not be left out on all the fun and festivities. I mean, shouldn't they be honored for this wonderful achievement, too?

I thought when I saw this that I was just not waken up enough to hear correctly. Someone has been sipping some nice alcoholic beverages before making that vote. Honestly, I have no respect for the award anymore.....no credibility. It must be all that hope talk. Too bad talk is all it is.

That's the Nobel Peace Price. Don't confuse the Peace & Literature prizes w/ those for Chemistry, Physics, & Medicine. (not sure where Economics fits in)

-Dan.

Technically, it is the "Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences", and is not a "true" Nobel in that it is not one of the 5 established in Nobel's will.

....I thought some one was playing a joke....

Yes, this is extremely pre-mature and a questionable selection by the committee.

Obama is giving his speech.

yeah, right.

I agree. But as Obama said in his press conference today, this award is given to him to give momentum, as good or bad as it is.

I don't know about the prize, but how does one get nominated and selected? Is it all done behind closed doors?

So I'm listening to him speak now. He started off really well. However, he did say he will accept the award. I'd have a lot more respect for him had he said "I don't deserve to be in the company of this group of people, therefore I can not accept this award."

I have to say, all of this is NOT helping him, and I think he knows it. It's funny, I have a ton of uber liberal and leftist friends and family from back east. And you know what, they ALL so far think this is a huge joke. They are getting tired of Obama.

The Nobel Peace Prize committee is a joke, the award is a joke. This is not something we can blame our President for at all so I dont' fault him for it. I do fault him for accepting it. All that money, every penny, had better go toward some sort charity.

emphasis needed. He was given this prize he did not earn it and it should give pause to anyone that there are definitely much more deserving people who could have been given the prize. This is politics at play not any awarding of a meaningful prize.

What in your mind makes him deserving of this recognition?

Oh, I believe that. But his "action" will be in destroying this country and handing over our sovereign power to the UN. He is, in fact, already doing so at break-neck speed. His "action" is to deploy US (as well as foreign) military ON OUR OWN PEOPLE, ON OUR OWN LAND! All so that he can bow down and kiss the hand of UN and other foreign leaders.

He needs to be impeached immediately. And everything he has done while in office needs to be reversed, as well as the last several years worth of Bush Jr.'s pen strokes.
