Beautiful to You

Verse 1:
Let’s stop the lies
It’s time to face the truth
Can you tell me now
What am I to you
Can you tell me now
How to make me beautiful

Chorus:
Make me beautiful to you,
See the smile that I can't hide
When you look at me
Feel the shivers on my skin
Make me beautiful to you

Verse 2:
Is it me you see
Or is it the girl you wish I was
So tell me now
Why can’t I be
Everything you adore
You say it’s true,
But is it me you love
Or is it the girl you want me to be

Chorus:
Make me beautiful to you,
See the smile that I can't hide
When you look at me
Feel the shivers on my skin
Make me beautiful to you

Verse 3:
Don’t say your heart is breakin’
Because we’re no more
Nothing ever left you
But the lies you made
It’s not me you love
I’m not the girl you want me to be

Bridge:
I wish you could see
I wish I could be
Everything . . . .
Everything you adore
Wish I was
Beautiful to you
Beautiful . . . .

Chorus:
Make me beautiful to you,
See the smile that I can't hide
When you look at me
Feel the shivers on my skin
Make me beautiful to you

this is kinda weird melancholy one.

Oceans of Confusion

Murky depths pulling me in
I'm a bit scared, a bit wary
Yet I can't help longing
To jump in without restraint
I want to back in that gentle strength
Revel in that gentleness so sweet
A pool of warmth surrounding me
Is it just for a moment
Or a glance in eternity
Like the crashing ocean
Silent strength rolling around me
So open, so honest
It goes on forever
Yet the tempest is still there
Has a riptide surrounding me
Whent his ocean sweeps me away
Will I drown in the depths
Or be carried upon the waves

That one is happier.

Lovely poems, all.

Since I posted the initial story in post 17, maybe I should give you the update:

Well just when you think that a friendship is gone
God hands you quite a suprise
One night while I was burning the night oil at work
It's my old friend on the end of the line!

We talked for what seemed like a very long time
And it seemed as if no time had passed
As I learned how kind he had been to others
It was my hope that our friendship would last

He talked of the things he had done for his family
He'd truly been through hell on earth
He was long overdue for some joy and some fun
And to know just how much he is worth!

For this I remember, he's one of the few
Who always has loved me for ME
And although that love's in a platonic sense
The "friend zone's" a nice place to be!

If I were to stand before Jesus today,
What would my report card say?
Would He praise me for my faith,
Or would He judge me for falling away?

If my child came to me to say,
“I married someone just like you today”
Would I turn to the Lord and say thank you?
Or would I grieve for what they’ll be going through?

If Jesus came to spend the day,
Would I spend my time in a different way?
Do I have things to hide,
Before I invite Him inside?

Do I exaggerate the truth?
I stand in wait of His rebuke.
Have I wronged my brother?
Help us to forgive each other.

As I watch tv,
Is it what He would like to see?
Let not the sun go down on my wrath,
Lord, please help me to the right path.

He is with me today,
As He is each day.
Do I grieve Him
With my “secret” sin?

Lord-help me to be true to you in all that I say and do.
Are my thoughts and actions pleasing to you?
Help me to be ready to meet you in the sky
When you come in the twinkling of an eye.

People say you can’t take it with you when you go,
But, in Heaven I’ll have a crown with jewels to show.
I’ll sit at the feet of His throne,
After walking on streets of gold, not stone.

Lord, it is my prayer
That everyone who reads this will meet me there.
Thank you Lord for dying for my sin
And for rising again.

I must ask these questions,
These are not just suggestions.
I must get right with Jesus
Before He comes to claim us.

Lord, come into my heart,
It’s time to make a new start.
Please forgive me for my sin,
Come into my heart and dwell within.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16

Here's a silly one:

TV, TV, you are my friend
With me you always have time to spend.
When it's Friday & I don't have a date,
You, oh TV, are never late.

When my woes are great & hopes are small,
You, my TV, are here though it all.
Never complain, never fight back,
You just entertain and make me laugh.

When I am sad and no one else is home,
You, TV, never leave me alone.
My companion and my constant friend,
Never too busy, you're here again & again.

Someday I will write a whole bunch of shows,
And will become famous for my wit and prose,
My imagination will appear on your screen,
And woes I once had will become unseen.

:-) Hope you enjoyed the little poem! :-)

If I could write a poem, I would write one on losing my best friend.... Which probably happen yesterday or today, or whatever over a few e-mails. haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, but I've stopped calling myself ugly and not good enough. I am really sad becuase of losing such a good friend.......

Poetry has been one way I've worked through tough stuff in my life, so most of the poems I've written are sad. I actually wrote one a few years ago entitled "Losing A Friend" but I hesitate to post it here because it's quite somber. I had a great time writing that goofy one. I may have to write some more zany ones before long...

Ken, you ought to sit down and work through your thoughts in a poem. I know it has been something that has really helped me at times. It doesn't have to be eloquent or book-worthy, or even something you share with others. Just so long as you get the feelings out, that's all that matters. It's extremely therapeutic.

he eats everything in sight

I dont know what to do
but one thing sure is true
he will never go hungry

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
You smell like an ox,
You look like a gnu.

But oxtails with butter,
Are good on toast,
And never in poems,
Would I try to boast.

Roses are Red,
Violets are blue,
All your poems are good
Even the shortest ones too.

It's now time for lunch
and I have a hunch
I'll be getting a Subway
Quite right away.

They have a new meal
That is quite a deal
It's chicken and parmesan,
What could be better, come on!

She walks in my dreams and strolls through my heart.
She awakens my mind and touches every part.

This woman is special, she is a dream come true.
She fills my life with love, and fills my whole world too.

I thank God for this lady, this special love of mine.
He has truly blessed me, with amazing love so fine.

Teach me O God, how to love her as I ought.
This was my hope, my prayer, the love I sought.

I love you sweetie.

Wow that is beautiful!

This is a super old thread.... But I love writing funny poems, so I thought I'd revive it as I am eating my caramel pudding and writing a poem to it.

Caramel, Caramel,
You are sugar free.
You really taste so swell,
And are really good to me.

You are a sweet pudding for one,
And I treasure every bite.
You are delicious and oh so fun,
My sweet tooth cured its plight.

If I had a date, I'd give him you,
And he would be so glad.
He might actually go out for date #2,
And I might not be as sad. ;-)

Pudding, Pudding, you are Caramel Brown
You are really quite delightful to eat.
I also want to date a guy whose hair is brown
And whose personality is quite as sweet
.
