I don't know. I was out in the backyard with Bailey. John answered the door. I knew somebody was there because Bailey was putting on his savage woof which he uses for strangers.

When I first met him, he put on his most savage woof and growl, and for a long time I wouldn't get out of the car. I've been attacked by a dog before, and I didn't want to end up being dogfood again. As soon as I got inside the house, the little terror was all sweet as pie as if he didn't have a vicious bone in his body and didn't know how to make those noises. He does that even now. Somebody comes over and he make vicious noises, but you get him outside with him, and he's all for cuddles and getting them to throw his tennis ball so he can chase it.

Our old dog Mutley was part Border Collie. If anyone came to the door, he went off like an alarm system. A stranger was quite unwelcome unless he was with me. If somebody came in, he'd have to sniff them to see if he knew them or not. If he did, everything was fine.

The two dogs we have now are both everybody's best friend. They love anybody that comes through the door and would probably want to be petted by a complete stranger.

Bailey's fine if we're with the person. He figures that if they're with us, then they're friends.

What would you do?

Last night, we needed to go get some groceries. It's a tradition that we almost always go as a couple to get groceries.

And it often includes eating out at a restaurant beforehand.

I wanted to take my wife to a nice restaurant, so we ended up at a location of a regional chain of Italian restaurants. The food is good but can be on the pricey side, so we don't go there very often.

We order our food. Tooshy ordered a chicken parmesan, and I ordered an Italian trio of lasagne, fettuccini alfredo and chicken parm.

Before long, or salads come. The bread takes a considerable time and the main course a good half-hour.

When the food comes, Tooshy's meal is what she ordered. But they set in front of me a seafood trio of shrimp, scallops and salmon on a bed of spinach.

The waitress saw the puzzled look on my face and ascertained that the wrong trio had been written down when she took my order. She apologized and offered to have the correct food prepared.

The food looked very good, and I didn't have time to wait around longer while another dish was prepared. So I said that I'd just eat that instead.

A few minutes later my wife recognized that I was not going to get enough carbs because the meal was almost entirely protein. Spinach hardly counts. She offered her spaghetti, knowing that she'd probably not eat it anyway.

We discussed that the seafood trio would probably cost more than the Italian Trio, and felt that it should be billed at the price of the meal that was actually ordered.

I suggested to my wife that if they charged me the higher price, that the difference would come out of the tip.

Near the end of the meal, the waitress apologized again, and offered a free dessert. I replied that I appreciated the offer, but was diabetic.

When the bill arrived, shure enough, they had charged me for the higher priced meal that I didn't order. Normally, I would have given a 20% tip for good service. The difference in price between the two meals would have equated to a 10% tip. So I gave her a 10% tip.

What would you have done?

I would have had them fix it but if you didn't have time to wait then I would have done what you did.

They should have adjusted the bill to reflect what you actually ordered. I might have adjusted the tip anyway to reflect the wrong order also.

What they said. I don't think you should have had to pay the higher price, as that wasn't what you'd ordered.

I would have spoken to the manager to get the bill adjusted, IMO. However, given the time crunch I'd say you did okay in the circumstances.

Hi Trish.

The weekend was nice. Overtime is finished at w***, at least for a while now. It seemed very strange to have a Saturday off. Changed to oil and rotated the tires on two vehicles. Bought a new pair of w*** boots.

Seemed like the day was over so quickly.

Sunday I got to see my grandson. And we continued the Love Dare bible study at church. Watched the Lions blow a 17 point lead.

Spent some time with my lovely wife.

New Pix

Finally got those photos out of my camera. At least it's not as bad as shooting film, when a roll could stay in the camera body for months...or years.

She's doing OK, but her left shoulder is still bothering her. It keeps getting re-injured and she may need to have rotator cuff surgery.

Her right knee is the one that had a knee replacement. That one is doing pretty good now, though she still needs to ice it down once in a while.

Her left knee is steadily getting worse and she will very likely need replacement surgery on that one in the next few years.

Other than that she's fine.

Wow! Are ya back to an ogre again?

My mom's knees are getting pretty bad. Not only does she have arthritis she may need to fix those knees soon too.

I know how the thing with knees go. Joan's had the same problem. Surgery on one knee and it improves, but in the meantime, the other deteriorates. It's annoying.

John's seeing his surgeon again today. I can't believe it's 12 weeks since he had his rotor cuff operated on. It's been getting a bit sore lately at night. Will have to see if he has to do physical therapy.

I never left.

You can take the ogre out of the swamp, but you'll always get swamp gas out of the ogre...or something like that.

Last night we had the soup kitchen and somebody clipped my truck in the parking lot.

(Let no good deed go unpunished)

It was an elderly gentleman who very obviously should not have been driving at all. The police officer said that he was going to put him in for an evaluation to have his license removed. In fact, the officer would not even allow him to drive home.

I feel sorry for the guy. Someday I'm going to be 81 too if I live that long. Perhaps I won't be able to drive anymore either. Hopefully if that day ever comes, that I will be able to make the decision on my own not to drive.

It's a sad situation, because the loss of a driver's license often means the loss of the ability to take care of one's self.

The good news is that insurance will cover the whole thing.
