ta_mosquito -> PFY Ongoing Thread Policy - New (3/24/2009 3:34:51 PM)

Due to the length of some of the PFY threads, it has been determined that the ones that are ongoing should be closed and restarted each year, thus keeping the post count down a bit.

Those who have ongoing PFY threads of over 10,000 posts, please restart them soon (by the beginning of April). Then from now on, please restart them each year.

Thank you!

And those of us who have substantially fewer posts in ours? My thread has less than 2000.

LOL! I started a trend and didn't even know it!

. . . I've been restarting my PFY thread every January for at least the past 3-4 years (for the very reason listed above).

Yes maam, right away maam!

_Cinderella_ -> RE: PFY Ongoing Thread Policy - New (3/25/2009 4:43:16 AM)

What about me? My thread (Catherine & Christine's Conversation Corner) has been up ever since these forums started, but it only has 7,000 posts currently.

Kath -> RE: PFY Ongoing Thread Policy - New (3/25/2009 6:24:15 AM)

According to the rules, if you have less than 10,000 you can wait till Jan 1 to start a new PFY thread. Then every year you'd need to start a new thread.

stamper_ben -> RE: PFY Ongoing Thread Policy - New (3/25/2009 10:34:36 AM)

Aren't all PFY threads "ongoing"?

magdaleine -> RE: PFY Ongoing Thread Policy - New (3/25/2009 12:04:49 PM)

Thanks for clarifying, Kath.

ta_mosquito -> RE: PFY Ongoing Thread Policy - New (3/25/2009 12:18:51 PM)

Sorry - I wasn't subbed to my own thread, so I missed seeing this! [&:]

And, no, Ben - not all PFY threads are ongoing. The birthday ones, for example.

stamper_ben -> RE: PFY Ongoing Thread Policy - New (3/25/2009 3:29:32 PM)

Well... I've seen a few birthday threads that went on for a while.[;)]

Ps103 -> RE: PFY Ongoing Thread Policy - New (3/25/2009 9:19:25 PM)

Bad bunny! Bad!

No carrots for him?

stamper_ben -> RE: PFY Ongoing Thread Policy - New (3/26/2009 7:52:05 AM)

I'd say I usually just get the stick, but that wouldn't be quite on topic.

So....

PrincessDonna -> RE: PFY Ongoing Thread Policy - New (3/26/2009 11:29:53 AM)

Even if it was a birthday thread that went on and on, I would think it would either die or need a new one for the NEXT birthday, so that's still one a year.[:)]

This is to help forum speed, isn't it, Tricia? I don't understand much of that stuff, but there is a reason for the new rule, from what I understand.

So it's all your fault huh?[;)][:D]

Yes, partly. Speed is also one of the reasons the Humor & Games threads get cut off after 2500 posts.

Also, with too many posts, the threads go goofy - they don't work correctly. So to alleviate this problem, cutting off the threads at a certain point is necessary.

The amount of volume we do on this forums software is stretching its limits, and this is one way of trying to keep things working.

So, there are at least 3 reasons. [;)]

EclecticJoy -> RE: PFY Ongoing Thread Policy - New (3/26/2009 12:51:29 PM)

Actually, Tricia . . . many times, the threads go goofy from Post 1.

I know we're talking about two different goofynesses (is that a word) . . . but I felt it my duty to point that out.

I was gonna say that....

Great minds at work again!

I could say it's something else... but not sure if that comes under TOS violation! And there's too many mods in this thread to risk it![;)][:D]

Ariella... -> RE: PFY Ongoing Thread Policy - New (3/26/2009 3:52:46 PM)

I knew my goofyness was doing somethin. [8D]

I wonder how long this thread will last? [:D]

or how long until it becomes locked? ibtl

magdaleine -> RE: PFY Ongoing Thread Policy - New (3/26/2009 7:29:06 PM)

It's a PFY thread started in 2009. The new rules say that it can stay open till 2010 rolls around--as I understand them. [;)]

agapetos -> RE: PFY Ongoing Thread Policy - New (3/26/2009 8:07:01 PM)

LOL!

ta_mosquito -> RE: PFY Ongoing Thread Policy - New (3/26/2009 8:11:37 PM)

OK, let's reserve further posts in this thread for serious questions/clarifications of the policy.

Thanks!
