So, y'all didn't take my last challenge. Try this easy one. Possibly the most infamous line in recent epic blockbuster movie history...

"A diversion!!!"

source?

shallbe

ShallbeRebuilt -> RE: November Game Thread- Lyrics and Movie Quotes (11/8/2008 8:50:31 PM)

Boy.

Can I kill a thread, or what???

"hello!!!"....

(crickets chirping)

wow. Where IS everybody?

(leaves)

The summer wind came blowing in from across the sea.
It lingered there and it touched your hair as you walked with me.

John_O -> RE: November Game Thread- Lyrics and Movie Quotes (11/9/2008 12:41:37 AM)

A diversion??

Sorry Shallbe, I don't know that one.

Which movie is this line from:

After all... I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.

BlessedAngel1983 -> RE: November Game Thread- Lyrics and Movie Quotes (11/9/2008 12:48:36 AM)

Notting Hill!

My friend, you're too good. I bawled my eyes out in that movie. Gracie, can you check out the tearjerker thread and give us some ideas on other tearjerkers. I love those types of movies.

That movie is actually on my short list of movies I've gotta have! Absolutely loved it! I could check out the thread, but I'm not always the best judge... I didn't cry during PS I Love You. [sm=icon_smile_boggled.gif]

~~~rolls eyes~~~
Meh, it's ok. I'm a geek.
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.
That line earned Orlando Bloom the nefarious title of "Captain Obvious".
So, John...you really OUGHT to know my first one...
What about this one?
"Long people have short faces, and short people have long faces. Big people have little humor, and little people have no humor at all!"
I'll even give you a clue...it's a MOVIE.[:D]
I don't do tearjerker movies. It's hard enough to discipline my thoughts to remain reasonably content without flaunting what I don't have in front of my own face on purpose.
OH. And your, John, is from The Day The Earth Stood Still. A phrase that saved the earth from destruction!
shallbe
I'm really bad at movie lines, so will have to pass on your line Shallbe. Maybe someone else knows it?
I was just watching the Colbert report and laughing at this - so I thought I'd throw it out. It is a line from a song (which was also in a movie ...)
Mele Kelikimaka Is the Thing To Say ...
I've never seen that one and I don't really like romantic love story that much. However, every once in a while, Hollywood comes up with a good one. I still cry whenever I see Jerry McGuire, and Good Will Hunting (esp this one...I'm so much like Will, lol). And I like those animal movies. If you want a good tear jerker, see 8 Below. I bawled my eyes out in that one. And Shooting Dogs....well, that's not an animal movie. It's about a catholic priest in Rwanda. Very moving.
Prairiehiker -> RE: November Game Thread- Lyrics and Movie Quotes (11/9/2008 2:50:25 PM)
Here's another movie line from a movie that spoke volumes to me about the relationships we have with the people that we already love.
There's no way I can repay you for all you've done for me, so rather than try, I'm just going to ask you to do something else for me - find the joy in your life. You once said you're not everyone. Well, that's true-you're certainly not everyone, but everyone is everyone. My pastor always says our lives are streams flowing into the same river towards whatever heaven lies in the mist beyond the falls. Find the joy in your life, Edward. My dear friend, close your eyes and let the waters take you home.
I keep wanting to post quotes from movies, but I'm afraid I'll get some of the words wrong. [&:] I'm not very good at this game I guess. It's fun to watch though.
What you can do is do a google search for the parts you can't remember. Yeah, it's semi-cheating, but you're still doing most of the remembering. [:D] It's like checking the dictionary to make sure you spelled something right.
Mrs.Benelchi -> RE: November Game Thread- Lyrics and Movie Quotes (11/9/2008 4:10:17 PM)
Thanks G-n-M. Until I get a new battery for my laptop, I am stuck using my dinosaur PC, which has no sound[:(]. Maybe I will play once I get my battery.[:D]
Singing in the Rain
Me too, but my sobbing in a movie doesn't mean too much since I have been known to cry during Hallmark commercials. [:)]
My quote (I am not giving the character's names this time[;)]:
Dad: Hey. Don't ever let somebody tell you... You can't do something. Not even me. All right?
Son: All right.
Dad: You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can't do somethin' themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it. If you want somethin', go get it. Period.
Singing in the Rain
Yup, yup, yup.
And now, for a totally obscure one. One dozen virtual freshly baked white chocolate macadamia nut cookies to anyone who can correctly guess the reference...
"I live for a sigh! I die for a kiss! I lust for a laugh! Ha! Ha! I never walk when I can leap, I never flee when I can fight! I swoon at the beauty of a rose!"
Good Job! Bugsy!!! As to yours ... I am not placing it right now. I see the scene, but cannot remember the name of the movie.[&:]
I actually found my computer and signed in just to bring you a quote from a movie I thought was very funny!!!
Man:Mrs. Plummer, I will personally make sure your kids are...
[Gary the Duck bites him in the ear]
...Oh, my God!
Lady: [puts Gary down] Sorry, that's Gary. He was Howard's
Man: He bit me!
Lay: I know. He thinks he's a guard dog.
JustJeannie -> RE: November Game Thread- Lyrics and Movie Quotes (11/9/2008 10:12:10 PM)
I have one movie quote from this weekend of watching tv with Squid:
"[sm=icon_smile_sing.gif]Pitcher's got a big butt. Pitcher's got a big butt.."
