These girls would each like to marry and have a family, as would many other conjoined twins. And many conjoined twins have married. I can't blame them for the desire to marry, as it is a natural desire..but, of course, as christians, we also believe in marriage being between one woman and one man. This can cause some grey areas where there are normally none. Let's discuss.

Are you talking about Abby and Brittany? Technically, conjoined twins are two people, so I don't see any problem with one of them marrying. Logistically, sure, but morally, no.

Wow, thanks for the link. They seem like such sweet girls who are making the best of things. I hope for the best. If they find someone who is willing to live with the challenges that marriage to a conjoined twin would bring, there's nothing morally wrong with that. It would be difficult, but it's not a moral issue.

Where in the Bible does it actually say marriage is only between one man and one woman? It is only specifically discouraged for leaders in the church. I think that in general, polygamy leads to a lot of heartache and jealously, but it's not technically unchristian. It needs to be illegal in our country because it's the only way to really protect the girls in the cults that practice polygamy along with forced marriage.

It is only specifically discouraged for leaders in the church. I, personally, believe that that makes it obvious that if the leaders, who are to be the EXAMPLE of what's right..and that is their requirement, then it is also the requirement of all others....and I really believe the commandment about adultery applies here too. I personally believe that marriage IS between one man in one woman..and that is the premise I come from in my OP. This thread was about conjoined twins getting married with that premise already in mind. If you really want to debate about whether or not marriage is between one man and one woman, you should really start your own thread..that is really not what my thread is about, and that brings it off topic. Thanks

I don't see anything wrong with them wanting to get married. They can't help being the way they are, it's not their fault they were conjoined.

I think the issue comes with marital intimacy which should be private is not.

You know, I've actually wondered about this very question a few times. And frankly, it has me stumped. On the one hand, they are definitely two unique people. I would definitely contend that they have two unique souls. Conceivably, one could go to heaven and one could go to hell (though of course, I hope to see both of them in heaven!). But marriage? I have no clue. It's a great question, though.

I agree. No clue. Not one. Nada. In the words of a friend from Long Island, "I got nuttin' here."

I've been thinking about this scenario since I first saw this thread. My questions would be, What if one wants a child, the other doesn't? What if one wants to marry, the other doesn't? If they both marry, would it be to one man, or two men? If there are two husbands, would DNA tests need to be performed if pregnancy occurred to determine which husband fathered? I have watched their 16 yr old video and they talk about how they will touch each other asking, can you feel that, so I know their body is "separated" in areas, but there is only one "private area" to their body.

What's really interesting about those two is that if one arm itches the other scratches it. They don't mention it or talk about it, it just happens.

IIRC, Chang and Eng were both married, and in fact fathered several children. I believe they were even married to (non-conjoined) twins. LINK: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chang_and_Eng I guess they didn't marry twins, but they did marry sisters.

I think since they're two different people, they'd marry two separate men. I think the way they're conjoined makes it complicated though. I'll never really know how they think about it, but if they share a pelvis and reproductive organs, they have to use one set of organs for both separate girls...and it seems odd when it comes to sexual things. I'm not sure how their sensations are, but it seems like if they both married two different men, the men would be sharing the same body...and if one wanted to get pregnant but the other didn't, then that'd be a problem. And even if one did the other a "favor" of agreeing to have a baby, think about what can go wrong that could kill both of them....etc etc etc.

I think the personal stuff is probably something they aren't going to be making public, so we'll probably never know. I really don't want to know all the details, actually. I figure that's their own business.

Of course it is their own business, I was just responding to the thread and the questions that popped into my own head regarding it.

Interesting question..... It's definitely confusing but I'd say that since they share the lower half of their body they either shouldn't marry or should only marry one man. At least if they only marry one man then it's polygamy which is debatable as to whether it's wrong or not. The consumation of marriage is what would be most wrong IMO. I don't want to get TOS on this so I'll just leave it at that.

The reality is what is right and good are absolute and easily discernible. In a broken world though, what is good and right is often muddled by the broken physical reality in which we live; it may be that there is no readily discernible answer in this case, other than that to the best of her ability, each twin give herself to her own husband. And come to think of it, that probably isn't always easy for any married person.
