Garsy - would you believe that my daughter came home yesterday and said "Mom, do you think it is fair for the entire class to be punished for what ONE kids did?" She said that they were told to stop making noise (reasonable) and one girl was 'gurgling' and the teacher gave them all a checkmark. If they get so many checkmarks, they lose the right to go to the Halloween party. I asked if the teacher would know for sure who made the noise and DeeDee said that 'we were all telling her to stop" and I asked how they could do that without talking. She said they were all giving her 'a look.' Probably this one...

Kath...thanks so much for the non-heartfelt pity party concerning my hs reunion years. I do believe I will get the same type of pity party from my dh who is coming up on his 35 years.

Hubby hits 30 next year. I should have had 20 this year, but no invite. I heard that we had a picnic for our 15th and a kegger for our 5th but I wasn't invited to those. Had a dinner for the 10 year but there was nothing else going on - just food. So, folks left and went to a kegger. I wasn't invited to it either. Do you sense a reoccuring theme? I didn't drink in high school, I suppose that is because I was 16. But, as an adult, I do enjoy occasional libations and folks are honestly surprised I hold my own like I do (the fast metabolism thing) I think my old classmates would be amazed to learn that little fact about me. They won't - I don't know if I care about 90% of them today. Oh, I want nothing bad to ever happen to any of them, I just don't have any desire to learn what they have done since they spoke to me last.

Good morning all! I haven't been to a HS reunion yet. We had the 15th last year, but I really didn't feel like spending whatever it was to hang out with people I never liked that much in the first place. I have reconnected with a lot of people on facebook, and am thinking of trying to organize a mini-reunion with them. Most are not from my graduating class, some not even from my school, but are the people I hung out with and would actually care to see how they're doing and meet their families. I can't fathom 7am classes!

Got a phone call about 4 PM just as the kids were walking in the door. It was the school nurse. Apparently Aryn came down to the office with a "throat that felt like it was on fire." And I then learn that Strep has been going around. Great. I've got her an appointment at 9:20 tomorrow morning, after I do choir carpool and get Ethan and Zoe to school by 8:45 and tell the art teacher that I can't be in that morning AND get Aryn to the doc's office. Now Aryn says the pain is about at a 7 on a scale from 1 to 10. It was a 10 at about 2:45 she says. Crazy. Yuck. Blessings, Garsy

Garsy, hope it's not strep. I will have my 30th HS reunion in 2010. Most of the friends I hung around with were either before or after me. Wish reunions were held with 2-3 year range invited. Of course, most of the folks I see from HS now and speak with on occasion are not those I hung around with in HS. Hubby had his 30th last year. We made an appearance just long enough to eat, speak with about 10 people, and leave. It was fun.

My 20th was a year ago this past summer. I didn't go. I went to my 10th. Nothing much had changed. Went back home about two months prior to the reunion and had a great get together with a few of my best friends from my year and the years before and after mine. I had more fun with that and even organizing it all and hosting it at my parent's home, then I would have ever had at the class reunion. I might go if we have a 30th. Hopefully by then some will have grown up some. Blessings, Garsy

Brian came home and said that there is talk of more layoffs. The good news is that the communications meeting that usually announces these things was canceled, but the bad news is that if they do do another round, there is a very good chance Brian will be one to go. If you would - say a few prayers please, it would be much appreciated. Blessings, Garsy

You've got it dear - I thought about him a lot for the past couple weeks because we (the hive & some of the flowers around us) have been talking about the longivity of businesses and what the need. The outlook is really grim and is it time to move to something else or stick it out and get assistance for short term. IE - I could take a class or two now. Quit and take a bunch, or wait, get laid off and hope for some type of help for a career change. Anyhow, every time I think about businesses needed to scale back I think of your Brian and the recent discussions he has had to have at work.

Remember...when shopping at the mall, please remember to be nice to the salesclerk...she could be someone that you talk with on Crosswalk forums. Yesterday was a horrible day. I'm glad that I like my job or it would be really hard to go back in today.

Our football team forfeited this weeks game - they can't field a team. We have two school pulled together and still had less than 20 on the team (I know I heard 14 at one point). Everyone plays offense and defense and they are so tired all the time - they can't scrimage against themselves becuase they don't have enough players on the other side of the line. With people who quit, and injuries, they only had 10 active players for the week. They MAY have 11 on Friday, but that depends on a doctors visit and how he healed. So, no game.

Kath - you know me. Assume the worst and be pleasantly surprised. I sent you a pm, but the computer weirded out on me again. Our plant has had to temporarily shut down portions of the operation. This makes us all look at our production capabilties and that of other factories / plants as well. My kids will never work in a business like this - the openings will be few and the pay will not be as secure. That is the reality of our current socio-political business enviroment. If you put limitations on businesses, even with good intentions at heart, you are LIMITING their ability to make money. Lower profits mean raising prices which lead to higher consumer costs and fewer sales. Which lead to lower profits. You all see the spiral, don't you? And, realize these businesses will close and you will be buying the same products from overseas manufacturers who don't have to work with the same limits. I worry because it isn't just our temporary problem. The bigger problem directly effects at least 3000 jobs in our county. Now, ripple that outward. If we loss our 'fun money' we aren't buying as much at the grocery stores, movie theatres, resturants, or specialty stores - so fewer cashiers (etc) are needed. Then, realize that means less money for the upkeep of our homes and your property value has dropped. So, you have no job to work at and are going to take a loss on your home if you sell. Or, bail out NOW, go to the city, lose your quality of life. (or, change it) And that is one county in our area - I'll bet if yours isn't in a similar boat, one of the ones adjacant to it is. I'll put the soapbox away - I keep reminding myself we have other types of plants in other areas, but where would I want to go? (I know - the KS plant)
