The biopsy went pretty well; they got done quicker than they said so I had to wait for hubby to get back. But twas better to wait for him than have things go wrong during the procedure making it take longer. I should find out the results tomorrow. Thanks for all the prayers. Some other random thoughts since I haven't posted lately. Tracy, the email didn't sound sarcastic to me. I do hope you work things out to where everyone feels good about how things are going. Kim, I am so glad that you are getting some help with some of those expenses. Garsy, I'm so glad you got good news about the job situation. I hate this economy right now. Emjay, good to see you around here again. Welcome to this thread Nicole; it sounds like you have a good thing going with your restaurant! Roberta, how are things with your daughter and your nieces? Kath, it sounds like the counselor is checking into things pretty well for you; I hope that you find a good place. Kath or someone asked about student led PT conferences. Our middle school has them. The child goes in with the parent and we meet with the STAR (homeroom) teacher. I'm trying to remember what gets talked about. I remember sometimes there being some surveys that the kids filled out about things like how they use their time, how much effort they put forth, etc. But you only have a scheduled time with the STAR teacher. In theory you can talk to the other teachers, but they most likely are busy with their own STAR student conferences. I'm not a big fan of the way they do it. Student led may mean something else in other schools of course. MBee, I hope you resolve your struggles with searching for a church. Finding a church home is so hard. I have some issues with our church, but I remind myself no church is perfect. And I'm fairly familiar with most of the churches in our community and know it would be difficult to figure out where else to go. I know I haven't responded to all the posts, so hi to everyone here! Dee

I woke up this morning and felt a strong desire to pray, but wasn't sure what to pray about. I logged on (which is a miracle because our internet connection has been terrible) and this was the first thread that I clicked on that had prayer requests in it.

Your post made me smile Roberta! Somedays the only way I make it with all the kid/friend drama around here is with a healthy dose of tylenol! Want to come back to Indiana and give me a pedicure! Haven't had one of those in 17+ years! It's been a quiet week around here. Somethings going on with Aryn. I can't quite put my finger on it. She just seems like she's about to cry at the drop of a hat, ALL the time. She's moody too, sometimes downright mean especially with her brothers. Then half an hour later she's the most adorable loving child ever. I'm chalking it up to this preteen hormonal stage. I'm so NOT ready for this! She's struggling with her advanced math class too. She's so used to just breezing through everything and getting straight A's that having to work for them is a new and troubling concept for her. It's not that she can't do the work - she just needs to realize that she's now going to be expected to work for the grades she wants. I made a carrot cake last night and I think a piece of that sounds really good about now! Blessings, Garsy

Thanks Emjay. Roberta, it definitely sounds like you being a positive influence for your nieces. I'm praying that your daughter settles in to a good place there and finds Christian friends. My 11yo boy seems really touchy at times. I attribute that largely to pre-teen hormones and such. It seems a little early for a boy, but maybe not. Dee

Mbee, yes, our band contests are for marching band. Garsy, it definitely sounds like the hormonal-thing. S has been that way for the last year. (oh, joy) We went through it during most of 7th grade, skipped almost a year, and now are having the fun again. Best part for us is that I'm not the hormonal one much anymore. Mine have pretty much settled since my hysterectomy two years ago. When she and I were both going through it ... My poor family. At least, they survived. Dee, praying for good news. Tracy, I hope you can get things worked out. I don't think the teacher was trying to sound sarcastic, but I can see your concern. Do you think a meeting with you, he, and his teachers would help? They could go over basic class instructions for him, and you could let them know what you expect from them.

Thanks Debilyn and all for the prayers. I just called the doctors office. My doctors nurse answered for some reason. The office staff was probably still at lunch. But the nurse couldn't hear me until I picked up a different phone. I dropped that phone earlier, maybe I broke it. Thankfully she didn't hang up. My doctor was out, but she called him and called me back and said everything was completely benign. Thanks again for the prayers! Dee

Donna- are his tests multiple choice or "essay" type tests? What are his main errors?

Third grade could be a little young to really "get" tests. Here they don't get letter grades until fourth grade. And if he doesn't care about pleasing his teacher this year.... Did he have tests similar to this last year? I mean in format. How do you feel about rewarding him if he does well on tests? He just sounds unmotivated. Dee

Donna, is he usually deliberately oppositional? If not, it may just be that he doesn't see the purpose. I remember when J first started school after homeschooling, the teacher sat him down with a test (with 100 questions on it) to assess where J was with his schooling. J got bored with the test after 75 questions and just started to write anything. I'd have been bored by then too. Because of that, for the first half a term he was in the second from bottom Maths class. Then they moved him to the top Maths class. The same teacher who gave him the original test made him retake a test later that year because the teacher didn't believe J was that capable. He'd gotten the top mark in the class. Second time around J got a higher mark. BTW, it's celebration time! J and X got places on the school bus!!! Just for the afternoon run for now, but that's when we really needed it anyway. Kylie

I'm just a tad frustrated right now and not really sure how to go about dealing with this. I'm not even sure how to put it into words. I need to draft a letter to the principal of the elementary school regarding some attitudes being demonstrated by our noon monitor staff that is rubbing off on our children. I think I'll just make THAT discussion a new thread as to not bog our chit chat thread down. Ty didn't get a role in the Fall play this year. I'm not sure how he feels about it, but honestly I'm okay with it. It means LESS driving for me! He will still work on the backstage crew but that doesn't require nearly the time commitment as a speaking role! Aryn got a D on a homework assignment in math this week. And all due to careless multiplication errors. I copied the problems she got wrong and she is going to complete them this weekend and turn them in on Monday. I didn't get a chance to talk to her Math teacher today but I do need to do that as well. Blessings, Garsy
