I agree with Cynthia. I have a son who would probably qualify, but I have never had a peace about alot of these government provided "services".

I'm catching up reading, but need to start posting or I'll forget what I want to say!

All of you talking about the cost of repairing computers makes me wonder. That is what my dh would really love to do! He can usually find deals & repair a computer for much less than it would cost to get a new one. He has pieced together machines from several different ones too. Anyway, we have been discussing for a long while whether we should open our own business when he retires from the military. I do think there would be a demand for it. Something to add to my prayer list & do some investigating into.

We celebrated our 19th anniversary yesterday!! We got pizza & a DVD rental for the kids and went out to dinner & a movie by ourselves (what a concept huh?)! We also saw Fireproof - it was really good!!!

Narnia - I was going to ask my dh about your MP3 woes, but I see you figured it out! You are right those cards are just too tiny!!!

Well - it took me hours, but I am finally finished with my post! We are getting caught up on school for the week, but I really need to get to cleaning my parents are coming the end of next week!

Amy, my older son has a friend that does computer repair. He's a whiz with computers and is supposedly making about $1,000/week. This kid's only 19. One thing he did was offer free consultations. If it was a simple fix, he didn't charge anything. That got around and people started beating a path to his door. He also charged less than the competition. Now he's got many of the businesses in town using his services.

Sue, That is a great idea. In fact, that would be a really good business for a girl or young woman to do that she could continue with once she had children.

Happiness!

I just called my daughter at college to remind her of something, and I forgot it was Young Life. She was having so much fun! She sounded so happy.

Okay, thanks for letting me share. I thought I was going to burst if I didn't tell someone!

Good point. Since my neighbor is a physical therapist, I was looking at it from the "house call" perspective (convenience and all of that).

my husband feels rather the same way Cynthia.
That's why it's such a struggle.
We both are reluctant to have someone come to our home, and we are both reluctant to send her away...
Boogers.
She and I are going to check it out on friday to see firsthand what kinds of services they have and how the program runs

I'm with Cynthia and Bagel, Blessed. I would not want a "helpful government agency" in my home. Too much potential for them to cause trouble.

Thanks Shadow-that was so sweet that you thought about asking your dh about my mp3 troubles.

I was hoping not to go to service tomorrow, but alas-we are going.

We went to Dave & Buster's to help a friend celebrate her birthday. It was a blast, but when you take 8 people to Dave & Buster's you can run through quite a bit of cash. Oh well, it's certainly not something we'd do frequently but once in awhile you gotta splurge.

Sandy, I don't know what I'd do either, but my gut says I would rather not have the helpful government people in my home.

Shadow, I'm happy your girl is happy.

I get to see a hand surgeon next Tuesday. My finger is no better. The cephalexin is doing a number on my gut, though. Yes, I'm taking my probiotics.

Thanks for sharing that Sue! I really do think it would be a viable business! And one that would do well even in hard economic times because more people will be looking to fix the computer they have instead of buying a new one! I also know that it would make my dh happy to do that! He does it right now for friends/family & finds it very satisfying. He loves taking things apart & finding the problem and fixing it (of course the process isn't always that easy) and he really LOVES helping others! I'm very blessed to have a dh with a servant's heart!

Shadow - I am so happy that your dd is flourishing at college!!

Cindy - praying for your finger & your tummy too!

We are actually almost caught up on our schoolwork this week. We skipped some stuff last Friday & dh was off on Mon & Tues (we never get as much done when he is here - but we sure like having him here!). I'm determined not to keep pushing things back from week to week & to try to stay on schedule. We did a lot of pushing things aside last year & didn't get nearly as much done as I wanted!

Cindy--sorry for your gut issues! One of my dogs is currently on it and I'm crossing my fingers she doesn't get sick from it. Good drug, it just can do a number on your gut! Keep us posted on your finger.

Ds1 has found a really good series on the History Channel about WW1. It's really interesting and well done. However, it's getting in the way of... school work!

It was confirmed yet again why my kids will never go to this public school. Ds3 and I were using the middle school track. This is the school that ds3 would attend. As I was finishing my cool down the gym class came out. Since it was chilly this morning I had shed layers and left a fleece jacket and a long sleeve shirt inside the track. The kids picked up my stuff and were throwing it around. Ds3 had to tell them to leave it alone. Then, the kids saw me coming and blocked the track, just standing in the way. I had to tell them to move. I've had these issues before and the gym teacher doesn't seem to have a problem with the kids doing stupid things. Last time it was shooting tennis balls at me as I ran by in the street... Ds3 will be doing a 5K on Sunday.

Oops! Thank you Amy!

Service last night, today, tomorrow and tam practice Saturday, then Sukkot on Monday. I am trying to keep my focus on the Lord instead of how hard it is to be around these people.

I have ordered a bunch of books to read and will start bringing them to services and other events. This way I have have something to do if I can't engage others in conversation.

It is emotionally tiring to deal with it all.

Gorgeous day here-little one is outside for a while before we have to go in and get ready for service. Sunny, mild and windy.

Some good news: A Target is actually opening up in my town next week. I will no longer have to drive to the next town to go there-woo-hoo! Same thing with Dillon's Marketplace-it will be in my town instead of the next one over! Less driving and less time for when I do need to go there. This will help me immensely.

Great idea concerning the books, Narnia.

That's why I always carry my Bible to my old church, so I'll have something to read when I got bored.

I am very annoyed with my finger today. I touch type, and it's really messing me up. Otherwise it's about the same.

Narnia, I'm thinking that the Lord must have you in that church so you can bless other people.

His, It amazes me how poorly kids are allowed to act, and these are tomorrows leaders?? It does remind me of one of the reasons that I hated school.

Timothy is going to his first overnight birthday party tomorrow. He will be playing flashlight tag and sleeping in a fort that their kids made in the haymow. He is so excited. Russ is going to go too. I don't think that Timothy is ready to do it on his own yet and they left the option open for Dads to come.

Sarah had her first speech appointment since I went through the operation and all. I was so thrilled, it looks like she didn't go backwards, and has continued to improve! God is so good!

Rebekah will be finished with her k4 curriculum in time for her 5th birthday when she will start k5. She is so excited.

David is hopefully going to be attending youth group at a different church. He will be going with a friend of his that he doesn't usually get to see much so he is really looking forward to it.

Caleb is actually showing signs of trying to grow up and show more responsibilities to help him get ready to be a 12 year old (that seems to be a big transition time here I think).

I am feeling much better. still struggling but am feeling better. The doctor called is sending me a new prescription. She is upping it from 112 to 150! I am very happy.

Mr. Manly is trying to grow up too. He used up almost an entire can of his sister's shaving cream today trying to shave.

I don't know. We had been sitting at the table waiting for him so we could start language arts. He didn't show up, so I went to get him. By the time I got there, he was almost cleaned up and there was no blood. I took him to his room, gave him a stern lecture, spanked him and we got back to work. I'll have dh speak to him, but he's out of town, so hopefully he'll be able to talk to him over the phone.

That's OK Narnia - I know how it is when I'm trying to reply to a bunch of posts, I get everyone mixed up too!

Praying for everyone with boys trying to grow up!

My computer is giving me fits! Dh ordered new motherboards (& other stuff - can't remember what though) for both computers so hopefully that will fix it!! Unfortunately, they aren't here yet, so I'll have to wait!

cynthia,

I would guess no real razor, or it's a fairly safe bet there would've been blood.

And Mr Manly is how old?!?!?
