quote:
ORIGINAL: rgsoundguy We obey God's law because of our beliefs, not because of legislation. I never said the law is the reason... It's there to convict... A standard... quote:
Any laws legislated by the government should be about protecting our civil liberties, including our freedom to worship as we choose. According to what? What is the basis for this? Scripture? The secular handbook? What? quote:
And yes, I still stand by my theocracy statement. I am sure you will, and I will stand by my statement that you promote lawlessness in the face of scripture... Btw.... Are you willing to remove ALL biblical precepts from the law? Actually given your view you should be calling for their removal since there mere existence promotes a theocracy... quote:
I have no disagreement here. The thieves stole, and therefore violated the civil liberties of others. They received the proper punishment from the government as ordained by God. Where I would disagree with you is if they were executed for a lifestyle choice. This is what I have been posting since the start... And I have never advocated one being put to death for lifestyle choice. I was clear they were put to death by the civil government for their deeds... Your attempt to say otherwise isn't the truth. quote:
That was most certainly you then. You stated that the constitution is a Godless document because it provides the freedom to worship other gods. I would like to find an archive. I have the memory of an elephant. In that context it is a godless document... Of course the more godless the better, right? quote:
I serve God in both my actions and words. You have stated that you are against something from one standpoint but for it in another... You can't have it both ways... You can't be for something and against it... quote:
I trust that His work will be done through His people, from the bottom up, as commanded by Christ in the Great Commission. By some of His people advocating unlawfulness to whatever degreet suits their fancy? quote:
I trust the government only to protect civil liberties and to punish those who violate them as ordained by God. Is that what Romans 13 says? I only ask since YOU mentioned what may or may not be ordained by God... Which of course allows me to say you advocate theocracy when it suits you. Unless you believe God can be involved just a tiny bit and He's ok with that... quote:
And again, you are advocating a theocracy. As opposed to your advocating unlawfulness? I am sure anything other than your view is seen as advocating a theocracy... quote:
Let's call a spade a spade here. How are you not advocating for a theocracy basing all the laws on the Bible and not the constitution? Sure.... I will gladly accept that over your encouragement for others to be as sinful as they can... I answer first to God, not man, and or his laws... Btw... Do you have a quote where I wish ALL laws based on the bible... Even in the secular realm proof is generally required when making an accusation. quote:
Actually, it's pretty clearly defined. Actually it's not since it is people who define it... Nothing in stone... quote:
When we legislate morality, it can get very tricky. Not everyone in our nation are followers of Jesus, and many will hold to different moral standards, some that might come in direct conflict with Christianity, some that if they were given the power, could come and use some of our moral legislation against us. Regardless of what they or you believe God's law is the standard and all are accountable to it... Even the government... Promoting the most godless government we can have isn't doing people any good, nor is it serving the Lord. quote:
Live your morals, encourage others to, but don't force them because it accomplishes nothing. If you truly what your utopia remove all the laws... Surely as it stands many folks are being forced to do things they don't want to do...
