I managed to write nearly 3,000 words over the weekend--about on schedule--but it took nearly half an hour to update my word count yesterday. The site is really clogged up and the servers have crashed a couple of times, according to NaNoWriMo's Twitter. It's frustrating.

How's everyone doing?

Amethyst Star on the Nano forums. I heard about this a year or two ago, but this is my first time accepting the challenge :D I forgot to check here to see if others were doing it.

Things are going well as far as word-count, but not so good as far as getting through the story. I'm about 200 words short of 20K, but I just finished chapter 2. There will be 30 chapters, a prologue, and an epilogue, and if each of them are 5-8K long, this thing's not going to be done in November. I'll be lucky to finish it in December! Meh.

*hugs* to all!

Wow! Go Amethyst! It sounds like you're on a pretty good pace.

I did it last year for the first time. That book sold three weeks ago.

Thanks! I had a great start last Saturday and have managed about 1500-2k each day during the week. I've been writing for some time, but have never finished anything, so I'm hoping that this will give me the boost I need to get those other stories done. (I'm so much more passionate about those than my Nano.)

Congratulations on selling your book! That's absolutely fabulous :D

I know what you mean about finishing things. I have a lot of projects that have great starts, but no finish whatever, too. I'm trying to turn over a new leaf. NaNo has helped quite a bit. I also do Script Frenzy which is the same kind of contest, but for screenplays. The same people run both so if you're interested, your user name and password will work on both sites.

I'm writing, but I'm so behind it is ridiculous. So far, I've only written about 1600 words. This weekend, I've got a lot of writing to do. Plus I've got to update my word count.

Well, we're well into the third week and the NaNo website has its word count validator up and running. I tried it out last night and it gave me two extra words.

I'm still a full 2,000 words behind, though. Hoping to get caught up over the weekend. (Although that's what I said last weekend. )
