A Brief Greater Vision Introduction

Gerald Wolfe formed Greater Vision, a Southern Gospel Trio, in December 1990. Through the years, Greater Vision has earned the admiration and loyalty of fans throughout the United States and many foreign countries. Greater Vision has received many awards including Favorite Trio, Favorite Song of the Year, and Favorite Album of the Year.

Greater Vision honors the Southern Gospel tradition with tight harmony and blend on “convention” songs, hymns and songs written by many songwriters. A majority of Greater Vision’s music is written by prolific songwriter (and current Greater Vision baritone) Rodney Griffin.

Based in Morristown, TN, Greater Vision travels and performs at about 200 concerts every year. Greater Vision has been featured on numerous video tapings of the Bill Gaither & Friends Homecoming Video Series. They also appear regularly on In Touch, with Dr. Charles Stanley. Viewers across America have seen Greater Vision on television via TNN, TBN, BET, the Family Channel, INSP (the Inspirational Network), GMT (Gospel Music Television), The Odyssey Network, and many other local, cable, and satellite channels.

Back in November, I had the pleasure of attending Greater Vision's "PraiseFest" in Sevierville (Pigeon Forge), TN. I was very excited and was expecting something "special" from God. In addition to the great fellowship and singing, He gave me several special "touches." I'd like to share one of those with you.

During one session, Rodney Griffin (Greater Vision's baritone and song writer extraordinare) told the story of his Father-in-Law's conversion. He had prayed for his FIL's salvation for 14 years before it happened! But Rodney never stopped, never gave up praying and he estimates that he prayed about 5,000 times during those 14 years. Greater Vision sang the song Rodney had written about his FIL's conversion (penned 2 months before the conversion!!). I won't quote all of the word of "It Pays to Pray," but I will quote the ones that especially reached me.....

quote:

You're tempted to quit prayin', You feel He's never listenin'
The time has come and you must make a choice...
Do you stop believin', forget what you've been seekin'
Or do you resolve that Jesus hears your voice?

He will hush the angel's praises, just to hear what you are sayin'
And at any moment now you will rejoice!

The session ended with the challenge to question yourself on whether you have given up praying for something or for someone.

I had given up on something and Rodney's "challenge" kinda hit me "between the eyes." I was diagnosed several years ago with "Corneal Dystrophy." There are many types of dystrophy, and my type is called "map, dot, fingerprint dystrophy." It means that everything I see kinda looks like I'm looking through a drinking glass that, instead of being clean and clear, it has a "fingerprint" on it. The only thing medically that can "cure" the dystrophy is a corneal transplant, and mine is not severe enough to warrant that. When I was first diagnosed, I prayed diligently for God to heal my eyes. And my husband, one of the greatest prayer warriors I know, has prayed for me. But after a while with no results, I just unthinkingly stopped praying about it. And that's why Rodney's challenge hit me! I know that God hears my prayers. I've just got to keep praying and not "forget what I've been seekin'." And whether it's the 500th. the 2,000th, the 10,000th prayer or just my entrance into Heaven that heals me, I'm going to continue to do the praying and leave the "when and how" up to God.
