Yes, this is a totally whacky thought, but that's conspiracy for you. [8D]

The formula disaster in China this past week made me wonder. I remembered what happened with the earthquakes--schools collapsed on children while government buildings stood. There seems to be an extraordinary lack of care going into things that affect that nation's children.

Is it possible that china's government is at least willing to allow, if not actively working on the reducing of population by the death of it's children? They already have a messy population problem, with so many girls aborted, abandoned, and killed and a skewed male/female ratio. Perhaps they would be OK seeing a chunk of the next generation disappear early on?

Like I said, I know it's whacky. I'm just curious if anyone else has thougth something similar.

****Important Note****
I am *not* talking about the general populace of China or implying that they don't care for their children. I'm talking *only* about China's government.

I think China's government...like many governments...is worried more about the big picture. Schools were put in place early in the Communist era, whereas government buildings which give the state honor have been built over time.

I don't see a vast conspiracy here, just a government with fewer people they are accountable to, a need for honor and a fear of failure which can lead to improper quality control at the grassroots level.

I actually thought the same thing when I saw more of the tragedy on the news today. makes one question China. I thought maybe they were trying to bring down the population by killing off the kids. Sick .

And let me add. What idiot puts a manufacturing chemical that is known to kill people in the baby formula and thinks nothing will happen. Then hopes and hopes that folks will think the poison is extra protein. And wasn't it like 6 factories that did this? Please. Somethings going on.
