If a friend of yours is in a relationship and she be a female, is it okay to compliment her - like in her blog, tell her she is someone you look up to and admire greatly (using other words that aren't so cliche).

-Saying I think you're hot is a no no regardless of how attractive you think she is, lol. -Treat her like you would treat your grandma is a good way to go, but then, there's a lot of men who flirts with little old ladies, so, chose your words carefully. -Make sure you know her well enough and know how she'll perceive your compliments before dishing them out. You gotta choose your words carefully....because even the most well meaning compliments can be taken the wrong way...

If they are married or engaged then a single guy really shouldn't compliment them in any way that could be taken as a flirt. (and almost anything can apparently be taken as a flirt). Of course this is a somewhat unrealistic ideal so just keep it clean and not too personal.

I guess I'm sort of curious to know what your purpose or reasoning is in complimenting her. I would stay away from compliments on her physical appearance all together personally. Edit: you should also consider how the compliment may affect her. It may make her completely uncomfortable.

I took the complimenting thing to mean something else. As in saying "you are a very strong woman in God and I appreciate that" not "you are lovely".
