Me too I need the noise if it not a fan then it the AC which at the same time cools the room. I love blankets up to my chin. I can't stand having them on my face either. I sleep on my back.

I used to think I functioned best on 9-10 hours of sleep, but even when I have the opportunity to sleep in I can rarely sleep past 9am. I'm always tired though, so who knows. I'm not really a morning or a night person- my most functional time of day is from about 10am-4pm. If I stay up past 10pm I tend to get a second wind and be up until 11 or later (like tonight). In college I was a night owl, but that was partly out of necessity, and I was still usually up by 7 (through pure willpower).

I'm an extremely light sleeper- DH is an insomniac and usually comes to bed hours after I do (although right now he's sleeping on an earlier schedule), and just the sound of him touching the doorknob is enough to wake me. I wake up several times throughout the night. When I go to bed I fall asleep quickly, but it takes me longer to fall back asleep after subsequent wakings.

I sleep rolled up in the sheet and comforter, sometimes with one foot sticking out if it gets warm. I'm a side sleeper- either side will do. We need white noise to sleep- I have a cd that is just rain sounds and it plays on repeat all night.

I'm a night owl, so I tend to go to bed late. I have meds to help me sleep, so I tend to sleep in. The number of hours I sleep vary.

I'm having to change the time I go to bed as I have recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, which really affects sleep and causes fibromyalgia.

I'm a tummy sleeper. Tend to sprawl all over the bed. With the cooler weather, I've got a polar fleece rug underneath the quilt as I like the feel of it.

I can be a heavy sleeper, but have trouble staying asleep.

I'm definitely a night owl, and have been since I was a baby. (My poor mom!) If I could just sleep naturally, I'd go to bed at about 5 or 6am and sleep til about 2 or 3pm. I need at least 8 hours of sleep on a regular basis, but do better with about 9. I can't function on less than 3 hours of sleep. I know if I'm going to get less than 3 hours, chances are I won't wake up when I need to.

I sleep half on my stomach and half on my side as well. I sleep with two pillows under my head, a body pillow between my legs and cuddled against my body, and with my arms wrapped around my teddy bear. (Yup, still have my teddy and have a hard time sleepin without him.) I usually hang at least one foot off of the bed, and at least one foot is out from under the covers.

I don't like sheets, and prefer to sleep with just a blanket. If it's really hot, I need to have a sheet or blanket draped over at least my hip area. When I go to a hotel, before I go to bed, the first thing that I have to do it pull out the sheets and blankets. I can't stand to have them tucked in... I feel confined and I panic.

That sounds a lot like me. It was great for when I had little babies--geting up and taking care of the baby in the middle of the night was a breeze for me. I'd wake up when they woke up, I never had to worry about accidentally smothering the baby in my sleep, and when they went back to bed I never had trouble going to sleep.

The only times I have a hard time sleeping is if we've had a big exciting evening and I can't get my mind to unwind. If I have a headache, or the room is too warm, or my husband is tossing and turning it will keep me awake, too. I tried a sleep aid once when I had a hard time sleeping, and I hated it. It gave me a weird, drugged feeling but didn't actually help me go to sleep. I prefer to take an ibuprofen or something if I'm having a hard time sleeping because of a headache.

What do you all like the most about sleeping? For me, it's dreaming. I love to dream. I dream vivid dreams and can usually remember them. They are entertaining to me. I hardly ever have nightmares, and even if I have ones that aren't happy, I few them more like the plot of a book or something, so they don't scare me. The worst dream I've ever had was about a year ago--I dreamed that my husband left me for my sister. I woke up crying. That rarely happens, though.

I have to have at least a sheet covering me, and my feet must be covered.
Don't care if it's warm or cold as long as it's not humid.
At least 7 hours is a must for my mind to function, though I can't remember the last time I got that much sleep.
I almost always have nightmares, and they always involve someone taking my kids (or taking my parents when I was young) or trying to kill us all. The more blankets I have the safer I feel for some reason.
Oh, one thing everyone thinks is odd is that I can sleep through awful headaches/migraines, they're still there in the morning or anytime I wake up but at least they don't keep me awake.
I used to be a morning person, staying up 'til 9 was waaaay late and being up at 5 or 6 was great. Now that I've worked so many weird shifts I can go to bed anywhere from 8 to 1 as long as I can sleep my 7 hours. Sleeping during the day just isn't possible for me though.

I'm a night owl and a morning person. LOL.

I usually go to bed between 11:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m., just out of boredom. If I had something to do, I'd stay up later. If I'm reading a good book, I'll be up till I finish it, usually.

I function just fine on 4-5 hours of sleep. I have never required much sleep. Even as a kiddo, I'd be awake for hours after my parents made me go to bed and I'd be up before the sun was (my dad would have to tell me to go back to bed, LOL). But I'd usually get up with him and pack his lunch, etc. then read for a couple of hours until everyone else got up.

I'm up by 8:00 most mornings, but a lot of times earlier. 8:00 is sleeping in for me.

I sleep on my side of the bed, I don't sprawl. If I sleep on my left side, I sleep half on my stomach, half on my side. That's the side I prefer. But I switch back and forth from my right side to my left several times during the night. I sleep on my right side until my hip pain wakes me up and then I switch. I sleep on a flat pillow, or my neck gets sore. I sleep with a big, fluffy pillow between my knees or my hips will kill me. All my braces/casts have kept my legs apart during healing, so that's the way I have to keep them or my hips hurt.

Hubby and I sleep back to back. We hold hands, cuddle, etc. for a few minutes but he is very hot-natured so not for long. I keep the covers nice and neat, he rips them off the bed, lol. If it were just me in the bed, I could fold down one corner of the bed and when I got up the next morning, fold it back up into place and the bed would be made.

I like the ceiling fan on in the spring/summer/fall. I sleep at least with a light sheet even when it's hot, I like to be covered. In the winter our house stays about 59-60 at night so we sleep under a lot of covers. That's my favorite kind of sleep.

I loooove sleeping! Unfortunately I don't get much of it anymore, as much as I used to and would like to get.

I'm a late night person. I can't go to sleep early, it doesn't happen. I would like to sleep in but Akeelah doesn't allow it

In the summer I need the window open, I can't sleep in a/c. And I need noise so I have the tv on to fall asleep to.

Dh and I definitely need a king size bed. I start out on my stomach and the move around A LOT through the night. I wake up a lot in the morning, roll over and fall back asleep. In university, I used to wake up at around 4 something and then every hour exactly after that wake up until I finally got out of bed (and not on purpose).

I like one good size pillow, in the summer I hate to be covered up but in the winter I must be covered up in a huge comforter.

I go to bed long before Dh but we do end up snuggling in the morning for a bit before I get out of bed.

And I can't sleep on anything less than 400 thread count sheets ....wait I probably could, so I should say I don't sleep on anything less than 400 thread count sheets

I usually go to bed at about 10 and watch the news for a half hour with my hubby. I'm good at staying in one spot since we co-sleep later in the night. I only use one pillow and one blanket, but me and hubby have separate blankets since he steals them if we share. I'd go to bed later, but my oldest usually wakes up at around 7:30am, so I have to make sure I get 7 hours at least. It usually takes me an hour or hour and a half to fall asleep.

Hey! How nice to hear I'm not the only one after all whose ideal sleeping pattern would be turning in at 3am or thereabouts and get up in time for lunch!

Oh, and adding to what someone said, I won't let a foot hang over the edge of the bed, never ever. I'm too scared of the monster reaching up and gripping me with its horrible hand. My bed doesn't even have a space between it and the floor but still, you never know.

I am a light sleeper. DH gets up several times during the night and it usually wakes me up. I like to get 7-8 hours of sleep. I am not really a morning person, but for work I've gotten up at 6:00 am for the past 10 years, so I've been forced to be a morning person! Even though I am not a morning person, I still don't really like to sleep in. If I am in bed past 7:30, even on a weekend, I feel like I am wasting my morning. I am not working right now, but I still am up by about 6:30-7:00. That doesn't mean I am pleasant to be around though .

I prefer to sleep on my stomach or side. I can never fall asleep while on my back, I feel too exposed. I also love it to be cooler in the room with heavy blankets. DH and I usually snuggle a little and then we kind of roll over so we can really get to sleep. We bought a memory foam mattress topper last year and it has done wonders for both of us!

I think this thread is fun. It's amazing how different we are in the ways we sleep. (And there's nothing controversial about sleeping, either!)

My husband turns over in his sleep so many times that the edge of the fitted sheet is almost entirely pulled off the mattress by morning. When I make the bed I have to take the top sheet and blanket and pillows off and pull the bottom sheet tight, and then put the rest on. When he's not sleeping with me, I just have to adjust the top sheet and blanket.

I can't sleep without sheets. Just a blanket drives me nuts--in the summer the texture if rougher than the sheet and feels too hot, in the winter it's not warm enough. The sheet makes the bed warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

sleeping is not my forte right now because of menipause

however, I do go to bed 11 pm - 12 am and am out of bed by 7 am. It generally takes me an hour or so to fall asleep. And I wake up 3-4 times during the night. Can't wait till this fabulous season of my life is over

I pull a piece of sheet over my mid-section and that's all I want on me. My husband OTOH is rolled up in a sheet, comforter and poncho liner with a wooly hat on his head every night. Seriously, it's not THAT cold in here, but he's freezing. We keep the a/c on like 72, but the house retains coolness really well.

I use a fan - mostly for noise, but I do enjoy the circulation of air. In our previous home, the electricity was notorious for going off randomly in the middle of the night for about 2 minutes. I always woke up as soon as the fan stopped making noise. Worse than an alarm clock.

I have 2 pillows and a knee pillow I use and I also have the privilege of my legs constantly moving about in bed. If it gets too bad, I go to the guest room so my husband can get some real sleep without me oscillating in the bed.

The best night's sleep for me is to watch an emotionally charged movie so I can have a good cry, then take a bath/shower, put on jammies, brush my teeth and slide into bed. oh yeah...life will be good again

I don't watch scary films either! It must be a leftover instinct from the time when my animal skin-clad ancestors had to sleep with one eye open so that they could watch out for the bears and wolves creeping up.

I once shared a double bed with a friend and nearly had to be scraped off the ceiling when I was surfacing from a sweet dream in the morning and suddenly became aware that there was SOMETHING MOVING IN MY BED! Another friend of mine woke up with the same sensation and her adrenalin-fuelled reaction gave her new husband a black eye.

I like to go to bed kinda early (not really past 12:30) , ha I am getting old.

I sleep lightly.

Not married but I finally got a double bed when I moved out! I love it.

I don't like to be woken up during the night, I don't get how some people don't mind it.

I watch the scary movies now but if its real bad then I stay up a little, I don't let my feet dangle anywhere, too many pets that were either trying to get noticed or a few mean ones that growled if they saw your feet.

I hate sharing a bed with anyone who tosses and turns. Every family vacation my sister and I fought so I never got a lot of sleep.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say that I still use my pregnant pillow, the kind you put between your thighs to help your hips and prevent your knees from touching.

If you're weird for that I'm just as weird. I don't watch scary movies and I still wake up feeling like something is about to crawl in the foot of the bed (even with all the sheets tucked in) and grab me.

When I was young I curled my legs up and put this stuffed 5 foot snake my grandmother made all the way around my feet/legs just so anything would grab it first....

I HATE HATE HATE my dreams. They're always very vivid, and 95% of them are very disturbing. Like, watching a small child get thrown out of a vehicle and run over in front of me kind of disturbing. I've had these dreams for about ten years now.

Man, I would snuggle with my husband if I had one....but this is really how I sleep...

Alone.

Pillow over my head.

Never stay in one spot. Roll all over the bed. Which is why I am glad mine is Queensized.

Usually I am a night owl and sleep in. At least until I start work. Then I am sure that will change...

Any bedtime routines you'd like to share? I always read my Bible and pray for everyone I can think of before I hit the pillow, and have found a glass of milk and some kind of chocolate before bed seems to help me sleep better...or maybe it's all in my head?!
