I just found out I am pregnant with my second child. I started running about 7 months ago and want to continue through this pregnancy. I am cleared for activity by my doctor. She told me anything I was already doing was fine outside of downhill skiing or rock climbing. I thought this would be a great place to get any tips from those of you who continued running through pregnancy or wife continued running. Thank you in advance for all your advice!

Karen

Oh I haven't had any children but good for you! Keeping in shape will let you to have a faster recovery.

You might want to sign up with a running forum, runnersworld has lots of women that have ran up to the day they delivered, just watch some of the other areas on the forum for the language. And avoid the nutrition/weight loss forum since most of them have disorded eating. [&:]

Active.com took over cool runnings forums and the website never works most of the time.

Yeah, there are a lot of pregnant women talking about running at Runner's World. Also, you might check out Cool Running and maybe Active.com. I don't know if Active has forums or not.

And you are always welcome to join our Running Thread, just a few posts below this one. [;)] We'll be happy to support you during your pregnancy!

Thank you both so much for the recommendations. I will definately check out the forums on Runner's World. As far as eating goes, that isn't a worry. I am pregnant, nursing, and working out, I eat more than my 6'2' 220lb runner husband! lol

I have been meaning to join the runner's thread and I almost did with this question but I wasn't sure if it was right on topic so to speak. I will definately post over there. I was getting ready to start training for a sprint triathalon but that will be put on hold for now.

Thank you for responding.

Of course you are welcome to join our running thread. I only recommended the one on runnersworld because there is only one woman posting on our crosswalk thread who has had kids and she's quite busy and can't get on every day.

We don't have a lot of participants on our running thread for some reason [:D]

Please join us at www.kickrunners.com . THere are a bunch of pregnant/new moms there. I post in the FInish Line and MultiSport forums. I will caution that some threads in the PostRace Tent are a bit off color. The actual running threads are fine, though!

Well, aside from that.... [8D]

I agree though - come join us in the running thread. We love to cheer each other on!

I can share that the receptionist where I work has a daughter-in-law who is an avid runner (6 miles/day) and she ran up to only a few weeks before she gave birth. I'm not really sure how that all worked but I know it can be done.

Thank you everyone for the links. I have only run once this week because my 11 month old has not let me get any sleep. I used to still run when that happened but I find it is beyond me right now.

I found my inspiration a few months ago. There ways this woman running next to me at the gym. She had run 5.7 miles in under 42 minutes. (My best is 6 miles at like 59 minutes. All the while she was taking phone calls from the kids (If grandma says only one cookie then only one cookie.), checking emails, and generally doing some other things. Even though she smoked my best time doing all this, that was not the impressive part. The impressive part was she was 6 months pregnant. It was then I knew I could do it too, albeit alot slower.

I do run slooooooow now. But I run. I will come over to the running thread.

Just keeping listening to your own body. With my second pregnancy I ran up to the 7th month. But with the 3rd, I could only continue up till about the 4th month. It just didn't feel right, so I switch to other methods of staying in shape...stairmaster, biking, walking on the treadmill on an incline.
