lightshineon -> Britney????????? (9/7/2008 1:57:56 AM)

Anyone hear this song by BeBO Norman. It is about Britney Spears, it took me awhile to fiqure it out (LOL). It contains such truth, and is so sad. I know she has made a mess of her life, but she is still a young person who is somebody. I like the song, because it makes you see a different side to Britney, as a broken person.

humbleinspirit -> RE: Britney????????? (9/7/2008 10:28:43 AM)

I just looked it up on youtube. Very nice song and good lyrics too!

MusicianDad -> RE: Britney????????? (9/7/2008 10:40:55 AM)

LOL! Reminds me of that "leave Britney alone!" video. To blame the public for the excesses of a music star is rediculous (IMO). She's her own worst enemy. She's the one leading others to destruction, not the other way around. The song stinks on pretty much every other level as well (IMO). I gotta have a pallet cleanser now. AC/DC usually works best for these situations. [:D]

Hayseed -> RE: Britney????????? (9/7/2008 11:44:12 AM)

Have to agree completely with MusicianDad here.

lightshineon -> RE: Britney????????? (9/7/2008 2:58:58 PM)

Glad to see some down on a young girl who fell from grace. The lyrics are good, and yes she had a hand in her destruction but Gods grace an d mercy still can heal and deliver. We do all like to see the famous fall, it makes us feel better about ourselves. lI have felt sad for her ever since I saw an E true Hollywood story about her. It made me think of the scripture about wha does it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and lose thier soul. I think she needs as much grace as you and I, maybe more.

Oh, sheesh! I don't like to see the famous fall. I hope they all do very well, thankyouverymuch. Yes, we all need the grace of God, and without His grace, I'd be doing something(s) as stupid as the stuff Britney does all the time. However, she is a destructive force on the young of this country and she's even more destructive to her own children. I hope she finds grace, but in the mean time she's the poster child for self-absorbed ho's who neglect their children.

lightshineon -> RE: Britney????????? (9/7/2008 8:28:21 PM)

Well it truly seems that people like to see her on the news. I still need much grace everyday, today is one of them. It seems like she is pocessed, I am serious when I say that. It seems she is better, atleast I hope. I feel alot of compassion for her. Jesus came to seek and save the lost. Anyway it was a good song in my opinion. The main thing is maybe listening to that song young girls will see fame does not feel the void.

I have a lot of compassion for her poor kids and little girls all over the world who are learning from Ms. Spears that it's ok to be a tramp. I hope she gets her life together, but I'd prefer if she'd do it off camera/mic. I think the song tries to pull on the heart strings of those who follow people like Britney instead of standing up to the outrageous behavior she's exibited since her very first hit.

Miss Giggles -> RE: Britney????????? (9/7/2008 9:27:04 PM)

She's not able to get any privacy from the press or her dysfunctional family. So yes she has issues but she's not going to recover at this point because it doesn't seem like people are generally interested in helping her, and that is very sad. All that money doesn't mean anything if you can't trust anyone.

In her defense I think that would be impossible in our celebrity obsessed society (it disgusts me how much the society in general cares about the famous). But Ms. Spears does seek the attention often times. Not that she wouldn't get attention regardless.

I try not to pay attention but from what I've seen (websites, "The Soup", other TV) she appears to be pulling her life together so good for her. I have nothing against her and I hope and pray she can pull herself back together.

gaylel1 -> RE: Britney????????? (9/7/2008 10:21:21 PM)

I was watching the MTV VMA's tonight (We get the east coast feed because I subcribe to Directv) and she won the best video by a female. She said in her acceptance speech that she "Thank God for all his blessings." I don't know what God she is thanking, but she professes that she is a believer. I hope and pray that she repents and comes back to the Lord.

Hayseed -> RE: Britney????????? (9/8/2008 12:05:23 AM)

Britney has been an adult and been able to make her own decisions for a long while now.

Please don't assume that because some of us can see this and call it like it is that we enjoy it or are "graceless." That's a load of Bravo Sierra.

Bebo is clueless at best or being extremely disingenuous at worst with that song. There are many celebrities out there who do the right things and make the right decisions. Don't act like Britney is a helpless victim that was forced into this life she's in.

Giggles56 -> RE: Britney????????? (9/8/2008 5:47:45 AM)

We all have to live with the choices we make and the outcome as a result. Thank God He forgives us. We are all accountable before God and it is He we answer to. It's not our place to judge. We as Christians understand that her relationship with God should be her main focus but the lifestyle she lives and the choices shes made have taken over and separated her from Him. My position is to pray for her and that is all I can do, as I don't have access or resources to provide for her. Someone out there does, and it's her choice in the end to accept that help or reject it.

uncabeeil -> RE: Britney????????? (9/8/2008 12:57:34 PM)

Just an observation here: With the exception of one post, all the males blast her and all the females defend her. Interesting.

Thank you. You make be feel like there's still hope.

As to the "don't judge" thing. Has there ever been a more misused comcept? Christians are called to judge. To say otherwise is just rediculous. If we can't judge then what, we have to say Hitler was really a nice guy? It's not my place to judge anyone's standing with God or their eternal destiny, but it darn sure is my place to judge certain behaviors as bad. Most of what Britney has done in her public life has been bad. Period.

Regarding Britney being a prisoner of her celebrity status, malarky. She's a prisoner of her self-absorbtion (IMO).

Giggles56 -> RE: Britney????????? (9/9/2008 5:52:08 AM)

We can recognize something as being wrong and yes state that is what is it is. Of course people are entitled to their opinions. Which is just that an opinion. I don't believe we as Christians have the authority to judge others sin, judging is up to God. He will ultimately make a decision in the end after all we are all sinners and pointing out everyones sin and placing such a focus on it really is not our place. That is why I said it's not our place to judge. Am I any better than Brittany? My sin is just different and I recognize it as being wrong and try to do something about it.

mapachito13 -> RE: Britney????????? (9/9/2008 6:14:05 AM)

Living in the same town as her "I love LA" I am sick of seeing her every move put on TV. Every time she shops for a purse or get a hair cut or chop or tattoo it's on the evening news here like it is a big deal.

Like anyone who's lost their way (including myself at times) I hope they find their way back to the Lord! But it just goes to show that you can have all the fame and wealth and still be empty inside. That hole that only God can fill!

So, when Paul rakes people over the coals for sinning, some by name, he's actually sinning himself for being judgemental? Or, is there a different set of ethics for him than for the rest of us? Are you speaking of the morality set down by the Bible, or are you just making it up?

One difference is that Paul was responsible for the people he was "judging". He had a God given charge to lead them in the way they should go.

Having said that, I do feel that we as Christians should be able to identify sin and call it sin. Its not judging to say that a way a person is acting is unbiblical. At the same time we need to look at situations fairly.

Of course Britney is responsible for her own actions. Completely. And truth be told I would never do her the disservice of saying otherwise. Because if she isn't responsible for her actions then how can she change. If I absolve her from responsibility I also take away her power to change.

At the same time other people in her life have also acted poorly and haven't helped. And they need to be held responsible for their negative contributions to the situation. Blame is not just a 100% game.

lightshineon -> RE: Britney????????? (9/9/2008 12:06:54 PM)

Compassion, is something I have for her. I am not a Britney fan, please I am a littd they are notl long in the tooth for that. I am a fan of Jesus Christ, who is the savior of the world. Parents are responsible what their children listen to, who they idolize. I have three DD, and they are not intp Britney, nor paris, or any of them that have acted as some say like a tramp. I know she iis sin, but, let us hope she is lile the sinful woman who went to the Pharisees house, and poured out her expensive perfume on him, and cried and washed his feet with her tears, and wipe them with her hair and the Pharisees said "there is no way, this man is a prophet or he would know she was a sinner." Jesus replied something to the effect, the short version " He who is forgiven much loves much." There was alot of of Britney's and lots of pharisees in the Bible. I hope Jesus is not writing in the dirt our sins ans we sit down and throw stones.

Hayseed -> RE: Britney????????? (9/9/2008 12:35:08 PM)

How sad it is that we can't know the difference between right and wrong... can't "judge" right?

How are we judging Britney? What can I actually do about her, except turn off the TV and not watch her shennanigans? Which I've done quite successfully.

Now, there's "Christians" wagging her in my face and telling me that I'm partly responsible for her behavior... I see some irony here.

... But you can't judge, right?

Funny, that those who cluck their tongues and say, "now, now play nice and don't judge", never seem to consider that they are making a judgement at that moment. Not only ironic, but apparently hypocritical.

lightshineon -> RE: Britney????????? (9/9/2008 2:23:58 PM)

um, no one said we should not judge right from wrong, I said my girls, were never fans, thanks to a mom and dad who cared. The song itself is not talking about Christians, it is talking about how the world, fame, and people will use you up. The press already has her obit written. She is twenty six. I am saying yes she has sinned, but instead of throwing stones care about her. She is someone, and with all the beauty, fame, and money she is lost. Her Babies my as well be in a house in the getto, they are no better off. I am trying to say just because she seems to have it all, she has nothing. We can judge right from wrong, but love the sinner, hate the sin. Love wins so love her just as a person pray, and have compassion on her. Jesus does, and we as believers need to be like him.

Who's throwing stones? I'm really not affected by Britney one way or the other. We're talking here about a video put out by a "Christian" musician making self-righteous statements that it's everybody else' fault the Britney is the way she is and "apologizing" for all of us for it. That simply self-righteous platitude at worst, and obviously just something to write a song about because he's out of ideas at best.

Nowhere in that song is there any acknowledgment of any of the truth in the matter.

This all started with me using the word judge and all I was trying to do was explain.
I certainly wasn't trying to make something up only say what I feel speaking about what a Christian's position should be. My position is to point them in the right direction if I'm able. As far as Paul goes, he was responsible for those people. I'm not responsible for Brittany. If I was I would try my best to help. She has to make her own choices and hopefully someone out of love will teach her the right way (which Paul did) and she'll either accept or reject. I certainly don't want to get in a whole argument about this.
It's just that people spend too much time focusing on the wrong people do and not the positive. I don't know if you misunderstood what I was trying to get across.
