That is incorrect. This is from the IRS web site:

The final form of the bill this was just free money for anyone who made over 3k a year from working, Social Security or Retirement. It has nothing to do with your taxes other than you must either work and file a return, be a spouse of someone and filing a joint return or get some kind of qualifying pension type money.
Under Clinton the child tax cut was a cut and it couldn't get you more money back then you paid. Bush and the Republicans made this a credit and Bush fought tooth and nail to make this permanent. All that happens is it comes up for vote at election time and no one is dumb enough to turn the tap off on a great big windfall of money for so many voters so they add little extensions to it instead. I think this is absurd and it means several thousand dollars a year for me at tax time but hey- if a Republican wants to give away free money to millions of people who didn't earn it and I'm getting a big fat piece of it they can call it whatever they want. ; ) It is not however a tax cut.

Agreed. I think Lieberman would have been McCain's man. As is, he very nearly was before McCain's advisors talked him into choosing Palin at the last minute.

Liberman might have been good for national security, but McCain is fine in that are. Liberman would have been a dud with the base because of his abortion stance.
McCain will give it about a month or so and then say that he will appoint Liberman as Sec. of State. That will pull in the Jewish vote a lot of moderates and will not bother the pro-life base.

Mr. Obama's stance on abortion is such that McCain could have probably got even Mr. Liberman past the right wing base of the Republican Party as the VP...

Actually, I believe that from an anthropological/biological standpoint, east indians (maybe arabs, too, I forget) are grouped with caucasians. It has to do with similarities in bone structure, particularly in the face.
