Looking at the conflicting stories from another angle, would it not have been prudent of Obama to have helped his brother out long ago, knowing the kind of negative media it could bring him when running for higher office, if in fact his brother really wanted the help? Even looking at this from a jaded point of view, I can see that it wouldn't make sense for Obama not to help him, if only for political expediency/gain.....unless that is, his younger half-brother honestly did not want to. Not to mention, even sending the brother $1,000 sounds like a lot give his economic situation.

I care about compassion, kindness and charity, qualities that Obama wants from others but not himself.
