Obama's real half-brother lives in Africa and lives on about a dollar a day. And sadly, his situation isn't funny like 'Cooter' Obama.

This is him, George Hussein Onyango Obama.

And I was wrong in my previous post - he lives on about a dollar a month.

Yeah, McCain's smile seems forced and "creepy" at times....His face looks like that of a possum to me or rat. But I thought it was because he was tortured and had muscle/bone damage? ...If so, it's ok. I sympatheize with him.

Why doesn't Obama keep in touch with half-brother? What is the basic story? Why not give him money?

Your guess is as good as mine. The amazing thing, is it would take so little to help him.

My guess is that he doesn't relate to the guy. They had the same father, different mothers. So he wasn't raised with his half brother. If a man sows his wild oats, often the kids don't even know that they have any half siblings.

Of course, Barak does know of this guy's existence, even if it was uncovered in the last few months. <shrug>

Salomonsprayer you are very busy fishing for news.

Wow a dollar a month is very low..

I have a gramatical question: "Embarrassed by his penury, he said that he does not does not mention his famous half-brother in conversation."

How common is to use "does" twice like that in a sentence? Never noticed that before.. I know I writte wrong all the time etc but somethings do take my attention as that double does.

Plus, it's hard to judge as an outsider. I'd love to hear it from Barrack with a full picture. But that's up to him I suppose. Just on the outside, it looks sad.

Not at all common. I think the "does not" was accidentally repeated.

I don't mean to be rude or disrespectful but I get the feeling you are not a naive as you present yourself.

You have posted like 2 dozen new topics in the last two days quoting articles from very obscure sources and then claiming you know nothing about the source. A good example being The Daily Kos.

I entered "Obama Brother" in Google as you stated you have done and after 5 pages have yet to find the article you linked to. So either you know of theonion.com or you are scouring the internet for the most obscure articles to post just to start a controversy (such as comparing NObama to Reagan ).

These boards are not like a video game, you don't get major kudo's for getting your name on every high score on the screen.

Obama is a tightwad. Look up some of the reports on his tax returns. There were years when the Obamas made over $200,000, but charitable giving was barely $1000.

Recently he said, "I am my brother's keeper." Imagine how awful the world would be if we all were as uncharitable as BO.

It may seem cheap, but we cannot really judge without knowing everything. I know McCain was criticized too for lavish spending on his many homes.

Do the tax returns show where all the income went? No right?

Tax returns show where you made money, exemptions from charitable giving, but not where the rest of the income went.

Are we sure this is his brother? DNA? Man, if that is true, that's not just cheap thats downright wrong.

100 american dollars is 7000 in their money. Kenyan Shilling.

It would be so easy to help him. Where does the boy live again, shoot I'll send him some money.

I pray thats not true!

Because hes Obama. Hes in it only for himself.
Does he really expect the public to believe hes for THEM if he wont even help out his own flesh and blood?

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/us_elections/article4583353.ece

Yesterday, as the Democratic nominee moved ever closer to the White House, George Hussein Onyango Obama, the youngest of his halfsiblings, responded to claims that his family had abandoned him by insisting that he was content with life in a simple wooden hut.

“Life in Huruma is good. In other places you must lock yourself in to keep yourself safe,” he told The Times. “Here I am surrounded by friends and family and feel safe and secure.”

He said that he was furious at subsequent reports that he had been abandoned by the Obama family and that he was filled with shame about living in a slum. “It seems there are people who want to destroy me and my family,” he said.

“They say I live on a dollar a month, but this is all lies by people who don’t want my brother to win.” He said that he was supported by his mother, Jael, who now lives in the US, and by a cousin in Huruma.

Good report.

Sometimes the lack of intellectual curiosity stuns me.

Here is how the Jesus Alive ministry described Humura when they were there two years ago. "Most families live in small one-room shacks... Their shacks offer minimal protection...rain and other weather related issues cause sickness among most of the communities children. The people of Huruma suffer from malnutrition, tuberculosis, malaria, pneumonia and HIV/AIDS.... Due to the restriction on the original livelihood...many families are left without jobs, no income... Bribery is rife, women are vulnerable to sexual assault and prostitution...no access to public transport and no police protection, thus allowing crime to be a major problem."

http://www.jesusalivemin.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=55&Itemid=72

The story BG misleadingly edited and Sol described as a "good report," started this way. "The muddy lanes and rickety shacks of Huruma slum are known for their poverty, disease and outbreaks of gang violence..."

Barak Obama lives in a mansion. His brother lives in a shack.

It's a life he has chosen. His family didn't abandon him. They still support him financially. But he chooses to live humbly. He is happy. I guess conservatives don't understand the concept of people being happy without owning 7 houses.

Where did you read that he chose this life?

Good for you to provide cover for callous disregard of family members living in poverty.

So the the UK Telegraph was 'lying' when they quoted him as saying this? I wonder who is being honest here - or why he would change his story between the two reports.

And I have worked in the slum regions around Nairobi, and anyone who thinks life there is 'good' has no idea what theye talking about.
