Most of these commentators are entertainers. Like for instance, I was watching MSNBC and I went ga-ga over Chuck Todd (he's a babe. ..sigh) but he's very knowlegable.

Obermann--I used to remember him on many local channels he worked on--but he is sarcastic and just Keith.

At least people like Brian Williams and Tom Brokaw are creditable--all the rest of them are comedians and make my day...

I would agree with O'Reilly, and also add NPR, and FOX News' contributior (wait, I thought FOX was all right-wing crazies? NPR, and FOX? Who'd a thunk it?)Mara Liason. On radio, Mike McConnell (Premiere radio network, and WLW AM, in Cincinnati) is the best.

I like Bill O'Reilly.

I also get a kick out of Glenn Beck... unless he's having one of his fits. He does find some interesting news and the game he plays on fridays during football season (can't remember the name) is priceless...

I think not.

I don't know about accurate, but honestly, Stephen Colbert is more insightful than most - and he's putting on an act.

See, and I was about to say John Stewart, another pretty insightful "journalist" who is putting on an act!

O'Reilly is fair. Sometimes rude but fair.
Glenn Beck is fair and deals with issues more than parties.
Fred Barnes and Mort Kondracke are fair also.

Well, I like to hear news clips from the person's mouth. Here is a clip shared in another forum. It true gave me some insight on the lady.

Now from the Governors mouth... in her own words... not slanted my the media.

maybe somebody has mentioned him already - but I always found the late, great Tim Russert to be mostly objective.

The last objective political commentator was William F. Buckley Jr. - and sadly he has passed, the rest are all posers.

Wonder how he would have fared with the 24 hour TV News cycle we have now. Or a traditional newsman like Cronkite or Murrow?

The far left hates him, but so does the far right; indicitive of being in the middle somewhere.

The far right hates Bill O-Reilly as much as the far left???

-Dan.

I don't know about degrees of hate, but I do know that the far right thinks he is way way too liberal for them.

Thanks
RC

I didn't read the whole thread, but my vote is definitely Dennis Prager. If you have never listened to the man, you owe it to yourself to do so. He is a practicing Jew, and so I definitely have differences with him when it comes to issues like forgiveness, but he is probably the best person I have ever heard when it comes to disagreeing respectfully. One of his mottos is, "clarity is more important than agreement", and he is extremely thoughtful and insightful. He is a VERY strong conservative, but never ever abuses his listeners or guests.

I would nominate Dennis Miller for a far second. He gives most liberal knuckleheads a very long leash and lets people with many opposing viewpoints speak their peace.

Rush, of course, is the right-est (in political leanings and correctness), but most liberals can't quite comprehend him and don't get his humor at all.

I'll check Prager. But Rush is not the "right-est" to me. He is similar to Hannnity. Too one-sided.

Juan Williams seems to be unbiased and very fair. I loved listening to him on NPR (he hosted a show called "Talk of the Nation") and was glad to see him on Fox as well. There is a local/national newscaster on NPR named Kojo Nnamdi - he is quite fair and unbiased also when he deals with national and local political issues. I hope that at some point he'll become a bigger national figure (though that seems unlikely) because he really is quite good.

If there is a speech or convention, I try not to watch it on any of the news channels or on the networks. Instead, I watch it on C-SPAN. I love C-SPAN because there isn't a lot of commentary - so you have time to digest what was said and come to your own conclusion before someone else spins it. If I can't get it on C-SPAN, I will watch it on PBS - because I do think that they try to be very fair - and they seem to make an effort to provide real analysis afterwards - not just spin.

He is trying to be so now, but before Hillary got the boot Juan was definately in the tank for her.

Thanks
