A little chocolate can really dress up a slug, though.

I'd rather have chocolate covered almonds, please.

Now THAT's one of the things I love about you, Jalanda.

You have a wonderful and gracious sense of humor . . . even when someone (who shall remain nameless) puts her foot in her mouth regarding avatars.

Oh my word!

Ya know, over at your blog site, where the photos are bigger they look like, well, eclairs.

But here . . . well, they just seem a bit sluggish. Perhaps an iron deficiency is the cause?

HEY, I live in Alabama too!

Did you hear that George Wallace's childhood home in Clio, AL burned to the ground Sunday night? Do you know where Clio is? Do you care?

I used to live in Laurel and shop at the shopping center where he was shot.

Walked by Ike Eisenhower's house daily on the way to work.

Mirthin' right along . . . .

At the slug square dance . . . .

I just wanted to share that you haven't seen slug until you visit western Washington. And then you will understand why I really, really, really dislike them...

I've never been to Alabama but my parents lived there for a few months before I came along. My dad was in AIT for the army. I won't share what they thought about it though...

When I was growing up in the panhandle of Florida, I thought is was full of rednecked hicks.

But, then, so was the place I grew up.

Wait....it's not?????

It's not what - the place I grew up?

Or full of rednecked hicks in the panhandle of Florida?

If you meant the later, then I offer most of my wife's extended family as exhibit A. (I once counted over 30 disabled cars & trucks scattered around my FIL's property.)

Pffft...all I have to do is go to the local Wal-Mart. That's a state fair waiting to happen...

Are you all not familiar with the term "The Redneck Riviera"??

Hey look what google found.

"Panama City Beach makes tailgating at a NASCAR infield appear hoity-toity." <--ha!

Very descriptive article. I want this for my new sig line: "Southern" she was; "charming" she wasn't.

Some years back Florida state legislators from the panhandle had some legislation about seceding from Florida to become part of Alabama. Their point was that Alabama was doing more to promote tourism in the panhandle than Florida was. Obviously it wasn't serious but they made their point.

Florida doesn't want to give up all that coastline, but the people in the area below Alabama are more Alabamian than like Orlando or [shudder] Miami.

What a great article. And quite amusing.

And I'm quite glad to find out you weren't talking about a woman for your prospective siggy. LOL! I think you should definitely use it; I bet you would get a lot of comments on it.

I'm a military brat (kinda) . . . my dad retired from the Navy when I was about 3 or 4 years old. He had been stationed at NAS Pensacola, so that is how I wound up spending a little over 3 decades in/near/around that musty ole city.

The beach at Fort Pickens has always been my favorite . . . very secluded (at least it was back then).

Have you acquired your slug cookbook yet? They're best sauteed in garlic-butter, especially goat-butter.

Hey - I'm just quoting the article that YOU linked us to.

Oh, and noone will care about his except for me, but I'm still going to post it:

It was not over 3 decades that I lived there; it was almost 3 decades. BIG difference.

I used to eat steak with topped with butter-sauteed mushrooms. Maybe y'all could start a new trend and use goat butter-sauteed slugs for steak toppings. More protein that way.

I had to read it a couple of times...I didn't think there was any way it could have been three decades.
