Concerning Gods will, how do you determine what the will of God is in your life? Depending on what career path you choose how do you know which way to go with it? With me a couple of options is in buisness or ministry. If a person decides that he or she wants to get into buinsess how does one make it to where it forms to what God wants of you?

If it is God guiding you in a certain direction He will confirm it. Just pray and wait. In His time He will confirm what He is saying to you. Listen carefully.

Redtail,

If you know God, you will not determine to go down a path outside of His will, KWIM? Business or ministry are both the same to Him. Love Him, choose Him and whatever you choose will be His will for you. That's how easy it is. Bless you![:)] LL

In the Bible the book of Proverbs (prov. 20:27) said that the spirit of a man is the candle (lamp) of the Lord. That means that God will enlighten and guide us through our spirits. Man is a spirit being. He has a soul, and he lives in a physical body. But he is a spirit being because he is made in the likeness of God.

The inward man has a voice which we call the conscience, intuition, inner guidance, or inward witness. If you are a born again Christian, the Holy Spirit is living and abiding in your spirit. The Holy Spirit does not communicate directly with your mind, because He is not in mind; He is in your spirit. He communicates with you through your spirit. (John 14:23,
1 Cor. 3:16, 2 Cor. 6:16). God is dwelling in us, then that is where He is going to speak to us.

Some of the time people do not want to take the responsibility themselves to wait on the Lord until you know the answer on the inside of you. And sometimes it takes times of waiting to hear this inward witness.

It is a lot easier to put it off on the Lord and say, "Lord, if You want me to do that, then you open the door. If You don't then You shut it."

To find God's will for ones life, prepare yourself (spirit man) each day by waiting on God in prayer, and reading His Word, and then begin worship God for most answer come to us during a time of worship.

I was wondering how what you are saying lines up with...

Romans 12:2
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Thanks

Many Christians believe the will of God is some mysterious plan for our lives that reveals itself based on our circumstances; who we marry, where we live, how much money we have, how healthy we are, etc. We end up paralyzing ourselves by believing that if we don't make the right choices in regards to these subjects, and more, we will be "outside" God's will, face His wrath, or mess up some sort of cosmic balance in the world. Some will even believe that the level of success they have figuring out these areas in their lives is a reflection of God's love and acceptance of them. Nothing can be further from the truth.

The will of God can best be described as a description of the inheritance we have received based on Christ's death on the Cross.

"For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant." Hebrews 9:15

A will only goes into effect after a person dies. What we have received as a result of Christ's death is our identity in Christ. The Christian should spend their time not trying to decide what God wants for them, but discovering what they already have in Christ. It is by understanding all we have received in Christ that we are able to engage the world effectively for Christ. Some of what we have in Christ follows:

Totally Forgiven
"When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins..." Colossians 2:13

Made holy and blameless
"But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation—" Colossians 1:22

Justified
"...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." Romans 3:23-24

Sanctified
"And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." 1 Corinthians 6:11

Made at peace with God
"Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ..." Romans 5:1

Made Complete
"For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority;" Colossians 2:9-10

Totally Accepted
"Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God." Romans 15:7

God is not necessarily concerned about our circumstances in life. He only wants our availability to be used by Him wherever and whenever an opportunity presents itself. He uses our bodies, our eyes, our mouths and our hands to interact with the world we live in as we try to win some to Christ. You have the free will to work where you please and the certainty of knowing He is there with you. So, my advice is not to worry about what God wants you to do or where He wants you to do it, but to realize all you already have in Christ and then to share that with the world.

Grace and Peace

txpope -> RE: Concerning Gods Will (9/12/2008 1:55:14 AM)

Actually, if you read and study the greek and hebrew text and translation the word "Will" means desire. God's desire for your life is His will. You have the freedom to choose to take that or do your own thing. People can change thier lives based on choices they make and there is a plan for you, it up to you to live according to that plan or not. We are not robots but we do have a predetermined life so to speak if we live as His children. Be careful with what you read and believe, the word of God is often misinterpreted for many reasons. Your interpretation of will is a bit off, you cannot take a word and make your own decision as to what it means or take what someone taught you for fact.

The will we write is there because we are no longer here to impose our will, there is also a living will which is also your desire if you are unable to speak or comprehend due to some tragedy. God's will is here and now, not out of death but for our lives. God desires us to live as He has taught.

Now before anyone chops my head off for pointing out something contrary to what they believe please understand that this is what is wrong with much of the world and the way we teach....People often take something out of context and try to apply it to thier lives without studying the truth behind the message. I am not here to argue or spout my own point of view and do not wish to start a debate on how you define a word.

Knowing and understanding God's will isn't easy though. Often the devil will come and use temptations to get you on his path. Pray and ask God for the things you need and want....he will guide you.

God Bless!!

by praying, praising, listening, & watching.

God hears their cry.

God inhabits the praises of His people.

God speaks in a soft voice.

God will show you the way as He did with Gideon as long, as you truly seek His will.

GraceBro -> RE: Concerning Gods Will (9/13/2008 9:25:06 PM)

God's will for our lives is to know and understand what all we have been given through faith in Jesus Christ. We, in turn, live our lives based on what it is we have in His Son, not based on what we presume to achieve through our efforts or life circumstances. You can not grow as a Christian apart from this knowledge. Apart from it you will always be like the OP who is consumed with thinking that God's will has something to do with a specific career path or a myriad of other subjects we are left to figure out. God's will is not some hidden treasure we have to find the map to in order to access it. God has already given us everything we need for life and godliness as well as blessing us with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

What is a will if it is not the passing along to those you love everything you have of value that you want them to possess so as to bless them?

That is exactly what God has done in Christ. The blessing is Jesus Christ Himself. God's desire, or will, is to have a relationship with His creation like He once had back in the Garden of Eden. The only way that was possible is by Him, in Christ, doing for us what we could not do for ourselves. The inheritance we have received is God Himself! We have love, acceptance and meaning and purpose to life based on our rightstanding in His eyes. In order to maintain that relationship with Him He has given us total love, total forgiveness, made us holy, made us blameless, sanctified us, justified us, seated us in the heavenlies and given us the right to call ourselves children of God. With that knowledge you can go out into the world and not be worried about what you are doing, who you are with or where you live because He is with you in the midst of it all leading and guiding you from within. Amen!

Grace and Peace

Great Post!! We (I) sometimes forget that God's love is unconditional. A lot of times we think of God just waiting for us to mess up so He can hit us with a lighting bolt, but our God though He is just, He is still a loving and merciful God.
