They look good to me, Ezri. As always, you're very creative.

I am tired.

Due to general lack of funds I had to make my grocery budget stretch, which is really not a problem except that no one else in this house actually cooks (although Ash is beginning to expand her horizons a bit in that department). When I am not home dh wants heat-and-eat stuff like chicken nuggets and corn dogs. That's ok sometimes, but my crew can go through $10 worth of chicken nuggets in 1 sitting. Not exactly the way to stretch the food dollars . . . I went to the store today and found whole turkeys for $0.78 a pound and beef for $1.72 a pound. The beef I put in the freezer, but I cooked the turkey and made a bunch of other stuff so they can get through the next 3 days without starving to death. I am working a 3 day stretch so they will have to fend for themselves. I have been cooking for the past 5 hours, which is ok because I like to cook, but my feet hurt.

We got a gentle, drizzly rain that was nice to walk in, but no gullywashers. I'm glad. My gullies have had plenty of washing this season and don't need anymore.

Pretty bad, but it could have been worse. All bone injuries, pretty much broke the whole left side of his body. Spent 20 days in the big hospital in the city and is home now just waiting for bones to heal more before he really starts PT. He'll be out of work at least 6-9 months. People keep telling him he could have gotten a vacation much less painful ways.

I am so sorry to hear about it. PTL it wasn't more serious.

Cindybode, I am in the same boat as you.
Trying to go through my pantry and figure out how to make meals out of the odds and ends in there.
I did the same thing, got whole chickens on sale and put it in the crockpot and seasoned it.
Then with the juices it creates, I poured that into a pot with water and boiled egg noodles in it....yummy!

Is there a post out there on this forum for Low cost meals?
Grilled cheese and soup is a cheapie, I need to add that to my next week menus.

I don't know why they don't have a show on Food Network for budget meals!

It's 1 am. The dishwasher is going, the dryer is buzzing and the washer just beeped.
Gosh, I wonder why I'm so tired during the day?

But this is the only time I can get ANYthing done!!!

Yesterday was the beginning of county fair week. It's the oldest running fair in the country. Today was the only day that I had to take the kids where we could stay for more than about 2 hours and they were predicting rain all day. Well, it didn't rain last night and now they are saying no rain and a high of only about 80. Sounds wonderful. It's been in the 90's this week and now they won't want lots to drink.

Grrr. I must have made a typo when punching our area code into the weather channel website because now it's raining and supposed to rain all day so we aren't going to the fair. The kids will go with their dad on Tuesday and I said I'd take them for a while next weekend. It's just that we can't get in free next weekend.

Beckey- the square eyelets are such a bear! the round ones are so much easier to set. I sat for a while last night twisting wire and sewing teensy tiny yellow ribbons. I got out my silver thread and made 2 "teardrop" charms with some crystal beads I had too. I'll hang those on the pic that shows him coming home and the one that shows him going away.

I have not heard from him today- hoping he is RESTING.

The hurricane dumped rain but that's about it.

I did not sleep very well, but then I had reason to not sleep well right?

They woke me up at 7 'cause they were in such a hurry to get out of here, but they are still sitting here...

It's MOM TIME, boys! Scram!

No, actually, Jody is fixing Nate's digital camera, so I can't complain, 'cause it was really broken and now we won't have to buy a new one. (Nate is very talented and needs to have a camera to 'play' with)

Jake didn't come home Thursday night. He did go to work on Friday and called from his break to say he was going to move out. He's got an apartment with a friend. He's also not sure if he's going to drop the EMT class. The funny thing is that he's planning to go full-time at his current job and pick up another part-time job so he can afford the rent. I can't imagine that he'll be getting up to be to work by 8 if he's hanging out with friends all night, but maybe he'll figure that out on his own. He sure quit listening to us. I think he's in for a very rude awakening, but he's 20 there's nothing we can do at this point. He's going to have to learn some hard lessons from the school of life. Please pray for him. This friend is not a good influence and Jake has quit going to church or hanging around with anyone who's involved with any Christian groups. He says he still believes in God, but he's frustrated with the hypocrisy he sees in the "Christian" people his age. I think he's dealing with some major pride issues and it may be hard to watch while God deals with him.

((((((((((((((((Sue))))))))))))))) I'm sure it's hard to see Jake acting this way, when you know it will not lead him to right things. But know that what he is going through is very common in "kids" his age. I will pray that God will keep His hand on Jake and bring him through this with a renewed vision and purpose about his life.

((((((((((((((((((Ezri))))))))))))))))) Just because.

Zoebob, so it rained because you put in the wrong zip code?

It's just me and the animals now!

Of course, I have a SS class to prepare for today and I have to make pea salad for a birthday dinner tonight, so it isn't like a vacation, but I DO have the house to myself with no one to worry about.

Sue, I am sorry Jake is making bad choices.

Thanks everyone. At this point I think it's probably good for Joe that Jake is moving out. Jake has been telling Joe that he doesn't need to follow our rules and has been bringing in games and movies into our home that I don't want Joe watching or playing. On the bright side, Joe seems to be bonding with Merv more right now. Merv, Joe and some friends all went fishing this morning.

I have been able to read a little in this thread, but think I may have missed what's going on with Jennifer's job hunt. If you would be so kind as to direct me where I can find that info or please fill me in. Please.

It is raining here today and is extremely muggy. I am sitting in a hotel room and took a quick break from working on an application and resume for dh. He is applying for an advancement. That would mean a big move for our family. They are obviously interested in him, as he got a call from HR the other day asking him to apply. I'm sure they aren't calling everyone and wouldn't be suprised if they had only called dh. Dh and I are really the only ones who want this move and it's really only for advancement. We have lived in our area since TL was two. MM and Mr. Manly were both born here. (here being relative, as I'm 2,500 miles away from "here" at the moment)

It has a NICE AC unit in it that is about 500.00 worth itself.
EZ - you're right about that! Ours doesn't have A/C & they said it would be at least $500 to get it added (and that was several years ago). We ended up buying a portable A/C (one that sits on the floor) and we use it in there. It cost less than 1/2 that! It actually worked out well though, because we were able to use it in the house when our a/c wasn't working one summer. Still praying here for Jerry & for you guys too! Your photo project looks great!!

(((Sue)))) - praying for Jake and for you & Merv to have wisdom in dealing with him!

ETA - Cynthia! It's nice to "see" you! I'm praying things are going well there & will pray about your dh's job advancement opportunity. I know moving can be hard (maybe it's easier for us because we know it's coming sooner or later).

Hi, everyone.
Want to hear a wierd story? Well, a few years ago, Ds and I were up here in MI. There was a trailer for rent and I prayed about getting it. We went back to MO and then to OK, instead. Well, today would you like to know what we rented? The same red and white trailer. Better than that, the man let us have the keys for $200, told us we could move in at any time, AND said we would only have to pay him $950 at the beginning of OCT. In other words, we somehow ended up with a month's free rent!
The $200 is a water deposit that goes to the city and it was supposed to be $475 a month plus $475 deposit...
God is really amazing, RIGHT???

Nothing much has happened. I had an interview this week with an agency but haven't heard any good news yet.

Cynthia, you mean move AWAY?
