Roberta, I suggest you call the police anyway. For all you know, he might have done it before (and might do it again) - they might know who he is. And even if they don't, they can keep the record on file (might there be any CCTV images from the area?)

I went to a new church today. Well, I had been there last week too. Church let out and I headed to the bus stop. I discovered that I was going to have quite a long wait so I decided to go back to the church and use the ladies room. I waited for the "Walk" signal and I thought I looked both ways. There was an older man in a white pick-up truck getting ready to make a right hand turn on a red light. I guess he didn't see me in the crosswalk. I have several bruises on my left thigh, knee and calf from where his fender hit me. My knee is swollen and hurts. My left hip and lower back hurt too. My left hand and arm hurt from where I hit the hood of his truck. He looked at me, smiled, waved and drove off!! I was so flabbergasted that I didn't even think of getting his license plate number or calling the police. I guess that I should be thankful that I wasn't more seriously injured.

Oh Roberta! That's so terrible! How could somebody do that, and then just drive off like that! That's so wrong! I'm just glad that you're not more seriously injured!

Manda- what is CCTV?

FYI for those who remember Hazel2. I got a pm from her the other day. She is doing fine, but decided to take a year off from posting.

I think it's closed-circuit TV...used for surveillance, etc.

Thanks Solo. I'm not sure if they have one of those on that corner or not. I'm not as sore today as I thought I'd be, but still sore anyway. It was hard for me to sleep last night, so I am tired though.

Oh my gosh Roberta!!!!! Did you report it yet? Maybe someone else got his plate and reported it. I know I have done that in the past when I have seen things happen and left my contact info in case they got a call so that I could give a statement. And then he just smiled and waved??????

You know what? You should report it, then go back to that area and see if his truck is there. Maybe he is there alot for one reason or another. Then you can report the car and the plate. I am sure if you saw the guy again, you would know who he was right? Maybe he has a routine.

(((Roberta)))

Is there anyway the guy might have been old enough to have dementia? That just sounds like crazy behaviour.

Oh my goodness! I am so sorry to hear that happened. Please rest and take it easy. Did you report the accident? Sometimes store camera, etc. pick up on these types of things. Would you recognize him?

I've been wondering where she got to!

I don't remember her saying she was taking a break. When is her year up?

Roberta, so glad you are okay! I'm sorry about what happened, though.

I think you should still call the police. I work at a police department, and we get calls from people if they see something like that occur. The officer will usually spend a while looking for the victim, but sometimes are unable to find them. It's very likely that someone did call in about what happened.

Praying for you...

I'm so glad you're OK. If he has dementia and it's that far along, his family has no business allowing him to have that truck.

Well, we were trying to get the twins into my school. We were seriously thinking about it last spring but decided to put them in E's school instead. When it was time to pay the tuition they were adding on things like crazy (55 KD for books-4 year-olds don't read over $150 worth of books!) plus the summer and winter uniforms and summer and winter PE kits for the 2 of them came to 98 KD (about $300) and I still have to buy the white shirts. My school is less expensive and the shirts are 5 KD and the pants are about 7 and we can buy pants elsewhere if we want. But we were booked full and and there was no way to get them in. So they're at E's school anyway. Next year we'll probably move them here. {sigh} I'd move E too if they had an enrichment class for his grade (basically here it means they're actually reading at grade level).

Roberta, I'm glad you're OK and I hope they caught him on tape or someone saw it.

Have a nice day, ladies.

Roberta...If this guy looked, smiled and waved to you then there's no way this guy got dementia. I'm so sorry that happened to you and I'm happy you were not more seriously injured. However, I was in a severe car accident 4 yrs ago and I am still suffering terribly and things aren't getting any better. I'm not trying to be the bearer of bad news but I wanted to let you know that this could be more serious than it seems right now. I hope you've been to a doctor about it all. Prayers are with you for a complete recovery. I tell people that the Angels were injured more than me that day and God had them with you as well. Take Care! Note.....Hot baths with salt helps for the aches and soreness!

People with dementia can do all manner of things; he might have been demented, but we'd only know for sure if we could get a hold of him. It does sound strange-- his reaction; it seems like perhaps he had a mental thing going on. People with Alzheimer's dementia have done similar things.

Ok, so I got this exchange student from China right? And I posted all of this before so I am not going to go into all the details, but will say that when he got here, his English wasn't the greatest and the principal jumped on that because he hates the organization we went through and called me on the SECOND day of school to tell me to get ready to send him home. I was not happy and much more was said. There were two meetings with the superintendant plus conversations with the State superintendant's office regarding the laws regarding this.

So now my student who is cute and funny and just a great kid WON'T SHUT UP!!!!!!!! I am so tired and I cannot believe how just overnight, he went from not talking to saying everything and anything he can. He keeps asking me if he can give me his opinion. I listen but to be totally honest, I am getting tired of hearing his opinion eventhough I know he doesn't mean anything by it, but still. Although it is fun to mess with him because he does get sarcasm really well and knows how to deal with it.

He also learned how to say that he is "distressed" in a whiny voice. I will admit that it is kind of funny because of the things that stress him out but I am just kind of tired and cranky and not dealing well at the moment. But I do still love him so don't get me wrong. I just need a break from his mouth for a short while. Actually, I think I need a break from my entire family at the moment because they are all driving me NUTS!!!!!! I hope this is just hormones or something because I totally can't deal with this.

Was that rude?

MrsTracy....We had an exchange student from France when our son was in the tenth grade. Although the language barrier was a challenge it was worth it in the end. We enjoyed having him with us and we learned a lot as well. Although we enjoyed our experience, once was enough for us! Have a good time...it will over soon!

The exchange student sounds adorable. I know he can get on your nerves, but so can your own kids, right? Just enjoy the time you're going to have with him and after he's gone you're going to miss his "distress". LOL

The twins had a good first day at school. M's teacher seems to be on the ball but H's teacher is clueless, according to DH. M's teacher knew when PE is, knew she had to have the kids outside for something, but H's teacher doesn't know when or where his kids are supposed to be. {sigh} I'm hoping that he's just new and needing to find his feet. Not every good teacher does well at the beginning of the school year during the chaos of figuring out which kids are showing up, what the new schedule is, etc. but you need to at least be able to fake it! I just told DH to keep track of things and if we need to we can complain to someone. We don't want them in the same class but if necessary we can at least request it. M's teacher could probably work with that...have them at different stations throughout the day, etc...if necessary. But I want to give the guy a chance. It's only the first week of school. He may be a good teacher, just unorganized.

Roberta- How are you feeling? Still sore?

Roxiesgarden- Hi! Ahlan! Welcome!

Knock yourself out, and welcome! Jump right on in and join us!

How's everybody doing today?

Tracy, can you have a word to the exchange people about the student's behaviour?

I'm STILL trying to get organized

In that....we added our library and computer special times LAST week, so this is only week 2 of them. Also, we have thrown a counselor into the mix & not all of the teachers have communicated with me regarding when the counselor will be here. I was gone last Wednesday & two of my kids had the counselor in their class this afternoon. So that has made for an interesting afternoon.

Newbies are ALWAYS welcome here
