HI, I've thought about it a lot, when the bible states in Phillipians 4:8-9 says:

"8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you."

So can someone tell me what does God mean by noble? Or an example of noble? Or is God strictly just talking about noble things of the bible and not of things that happen in life?

8)Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9) Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

For some reason they decided to translate "honest" into "noble." Honest is a better translation!

As described for the people of Berea:
“These were more noble than those of Thessalonica, in that they received the Word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
(Acts.17:11)

The New American Standard Bible translates the Greek word semnos as "honorable". The Lexicon uses the following definitions for semnos:

august, venerable, reverend
to be venerated for character, honorable

If we are living Christlike, we must include the "noble things that happen in life" as a vital part our daily walk inspired by the "noble things of the Bible". How could the two ever be separated for a true Believer, NJ?

A great verse and one we should all remember and live by.

Philippians 4:8-9 (Amplified Bible)
For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].

I'd like to hear of an actual noble thought or thoughts that anyone has chosen to think about.

When I think of God, and when I think of those attributes of His that He has chosen to reveal to us; His majesty, His creative power, His love and His sacrifices for us...those are noble thoughts.
