PhrozenPhoenix -> Most Comforting/hopeful Songs? (8/26/2008 5:18:46 AM)

I love my metal and all but as they say every bad boy has a soft side (not that I'm much of a bad boy, just like hard music... but I have a soft spot for beautiful melodies and poetic lyrics too).

I was kind of wondering what youre most comforting song is that is both melodic and poetic that you just really like to curl up in a blanket with watching the stars or something.

Mine at the moment would have to be The Sailorman's Hymn by Kamelot and Sleeping Sun by Nightwish. Lullaby by Xandria is a nice fall to sleep, snuggle in the covers song too.

Anyway, what are a couple of your favorites to calm you down, comfort, fall asleep or whatever? Secular or Christian doesn't matter.

"Blessed Be The Name of The Lord"--by Tree 63 and various artists
--that song I've noticed has been sung at every memorial service, but it also gives comfort and it's one of my fav songs.

"God Speaking"--Mandisa

"This Too Must Pass"--Yolanda Adams

"I'm in Better Hands Now"--Natalie Grant

"I Need You Now"--Smokie Norful

"Never Would Have Made It"--Marvin Sapp--That song has been an anthem this year for those who went through loss and pain.

Held

Hold me Jesus

I use the songs in my womens prison ministry quite often. The women we minister to are in the process of be assimilated into NC's Correctional System.

Needless to say, tears flow like rivers. Our message to them is for them to see their prison sentence as a time of healing and restoration. And to remind them that despite what they have done to be placed in prison, God holds them in His everlasting arms.

My church had a special service when 9/11 happened, and one of the church staffers sang "Hold Me, Jesus" by Rich Mullins. Very comforting.

The local Christian station has been playing Steven Curtis Chapman's "Yours," and I love it, especially the new verse he added after the death of his daughter.

This song literally says it all. It shows me that the love of God can heal any pain if you just let Him touch you. This song saved my life. That it why my signature is part of it.

O Come Angel Band is one. Down in the River to Pray, Green Pastures, Sweet by and By, higher Ground, In the Garden, What a meeting in the Air, I know who holds tomorrow. All are gospel songs I was raised with being a Southern Baptist. I love Country, Bluegrass, Rock, And metal like you. I know where your coming from. I love Led Zeppelin so I understand. Oh and does anyone know if Robert Plant is a Christian I'm just wondering. I have a Thread started calle " Is Robert Plant a Christian" I don't want any rumors on there unless if they are good and don't have to do with satanic stuff. That was Jimmy Page not Plant.Oh and another hopeful song is called When I get where I'm Going by Brad Pasiley and Dolly Parton.
Katie C.

So Many Stars by Carly Simon from The Bedroom Tapes CD.

PHmosh1 -> RE: Most Comforting/hopeful Songs? (9/3/2008 7:54:20 AM)

This may not be a typical "comforting/hopeful" song, but Storm the Gates of Hell by Demon Hunter fits the bill for me. My favorite line: "Hell hath no fury at all." [sm=thumbsup.gif]
