Morning Ladies!! Last day of watching school aged children today, so I was gonna take them to the beach, but it's kinda cool & rainy today....so plan B is to take them for Pizza & games at the Mineshaft...(local fun place for pizza & games) AND one of the boys tried ~moving~ a T.V last night & it fell on him.....3 stitches in the head & slight broken wrist!! Sorry to say....but glad it happened to him at HIS house & not mine!! Have been watching *Gustav*.....Adam moved to New Orleans in June to do his Commercial Diving....so as a Mom....I have taken up hurricane watching! He is currently in Galveston, Texas.....I will call him today & tell him to go inland Monday for his own protection.....or just keep driving north & come HOME!! He just got another job, so I doubt he will come home...so more worrying! Talk later....all have a GREAT day!

Maggie, Wow..what a wonderful post!! You sure do have the gift and makeing folks feel wonderful with themself's!! And you write so well I swear I felt like I was right next to you enjoying that salad Sorry your friend could'ent make it there tho. Thank you, Barb! There was enough of that salad that I surely could have shared it with you had you been sitting with me! I didn't mind not meeting with my friend. We had just gotten together two days before and we will get together again soon. She's been out of the country for four months so we have a lot to catch up on. But her being unavailable yesterday resulted in me finishing the latest proofing of my book and sending in the changes. I also got to see the book cover for the first time and really like it (though when I e-mailed it to the family, one son wrote back and said he thought it looks cheap and wants to create a different cover for me to consider). Anyway, it turned out to be a very productive day. LOL at your comment to Ginny! I hope she did. That's so cute about Ethan and the alarm clock! You are so ambitious with those quilts! Hey Pam! Good to see you here! Yeah, I'd be worrying too if my kid was in the path of a hurricane.

Ginny, So did'ent you feel wonderful about yourself, after reading Maggie's post? I think it's a great idea to go ahead and plan your own birthday party. Hope your husband is feeling better. #1 Yessum, I did feel good after reading Maggie's post. The rest of you all made me feel good too. Thanks Maggie. Thanks everyone. #2 Planning another birthday party depends on the expense of the kid's plans. Will see. #3 Hubby was asleep when I got home from work, still is.

Good morning Barb. Maggie and Linda and I talk on MSN. I spoke with Maggie last night about how eloquent she is. And she is. I got off work at 1:00 today. Called hubby to see if he wanted to go out to eat lunch with me. He said no, his stomach is bothering him.

LOL! How old is she, Barb? I'm guessing about 6 months or so? I know my ds2 was climbing out of his crib at an unexpectedly young age--might have been around 6 months or so. But that seems too hard to believe. I must have recorded that event somewhere. I should try to look it up. I know it took me a while to realize he could actually do this. Hi Ginny! Hi everyone else! I've had my first good day since returning home. It sure has been nice.

Ginny, He's still sick? The way he talked to me when I asked him out to lunch I thought so. Later tonight my DD came over and during the conversation with her I found out she and hubby went out to breakfast together. Guess DH was still filled from eating out with her but didn't want to mention then he and DD went out. Yes, his stomach does trouble him but for today I think it was because he didn't want to go out twice. DH, DD, her boyfriend, DS1 and I all listened to my DS3's football game over the radio. It is an away game and we didn't go. DH thought since our son is a sophomore he wouldn't be playing on the varsity game tonight. Well 15 minutes before the game ended we hear over the radio our son's name announced and the commenter talked some about what a great player he is. DH's eyes got big and round and he almost cried then from then on he was picking on himself for not going to the game. Hi Maggie and Barb. Maggie I'm glad you are having a good day. Barb sounds like your granddaughter is a lively child already figuring out how to get out of the pack n play. Before you know it she will be walking around getting into things. How is the little one who cut their finger with the scissors? Is it healing good? And do you all know Leah is struggling with fatigue that for her is unusual? It's been a few weeks now that Leah has shared the fatigue is getting her down and she is SO tired! Sure wish I knew what is causing it. Ginny P.S. Dee say hi sometime and let us know how your week went.

Ginny, thank you so much for your concern . . . I have a suspicion that my fatigue is maybe a monthly cycle thing even tho I'm a few months past what should be the end of menopause. I saw the doctor early last week, but as of that time it hadn't bothered me just a whole lot, so I never said anything. Anyway, I appreciate your prayers and concern, Ginny . . . . . . I'm sorry your DH missed the game . . it seems it upset him a lot. It is good to hear that he's feeling better, tho. Pam, good to see you in here! Sounds like you're keeping busy . . and I sure hope your son is staying safe -- have you heard anymore from him? Has he left yet?? Barb, I'm guessing the Pack 'n Play is a playpen? She must be pretty good size if she's crawling out of that . . but I'm thinking Isabelle is over a year old -- maybe close to 2 . . ??? They sure do take more looking after when they start getting more independent, don't they?

Hi Ginny, thanks for thinking of me! I'm glad everyone got to hear what the announcer said about your son. Very cool! I'm glad you are feeling better Maggie. I'm sorry to hear you are fatigued, Leah. How was the babysitting the rest of the week? I'm glad it is Friday. Wednesday my son came home from school and was actually in a good mood. It was so nice. He doesn't like school, and had just generally been in a bad mood a lot of the time since it started. It's been better since then, and I'm so happy! I went to some garage sales with my oldest today; we got some games at one of them. My 4yo got hubby to play one of them with her, and my son (age 10) decided to join them. Later my 13yo was playing with them, and I joined them. It was so nice to see everyone doing something like that together. My son left his favorite computer game to play. At that garage sale for 3 dollars I got 3 games, some Barbie kitchen stuff, some other toy kitchen stuff, and some snow pants. They also gave us the stuffed animal my daughter wanted, and some cucumbers for free. Dee

Good Saturday morning, everyone! It IS good to see you again, Dee -- and thanks. The babysitting went fine for the rest of the week. I didn't have Garrett Thursday or Friday. He had his appointment with the neurosurgeon Thursday, and (Ijust realized I'd not mentioned this in here) they said he has a small tumor but it's not in a place where it should cause him any problems so they would just watch it. He's to have another round of tests next year. that was such a relief to everyone. Dee, I stopped at a yard sale this morning too! Bought to baskets and 2 games. The games were only $1 apiece and one of them had never been opened. My afterschooler & I tried to play Uno Attack yesterday, but decided we needed new batteries and more time to figure it out, so I'll do that next week. This is the longest I've slept in over a week . . I went to bed a little before 11:00, and think I was sound asleep by 11:30, and just woke up at 5:30 . . 6 hours uninterrupted sleep is really great for me, and probably has not happened in at least 3 weeks, maybe longer. In fact, I think I can sleep some more, or at least rest, so am going back to bed for a bit. We're going to the river today to join many of my family -- something we've not done all year.

Dee, the game you bought at the garage sale turned out to be a family connector. I mean look at what it did....ALL your family playing and enjoying one another. I love it when I hear stories like this. Congrats to you for finding something, a game, that brought everyone together. And it sounded like you got some other good bargains too. Leah, I am impressed with what you are doing with the kids. I believe you are having a deep impact on their lives and will be remembered when they grow older. And you are planting seeds. Uno Attack? Let me know if this is a fun game to play. Usually I sleep a little later on Saturdays because they are the only day I can but today I am going to garage sales and the first one opens at 7:30 am. I plan to be there at 7:00. I wanted my cup of coffee first and a soda. I have started drinking two cups of coffee every morning since I quit smoking. How did the OA meeting go Leah? Barb, I have had it on my mind my impression of your DIL and I hope you don't mind me sharing it. I believe she is a self-centered person who hear s her own thoughts more than being aware of others. It is my impression she is thinking, "MIL is home all day, I need my sleep, WHY can't she watch the boys?" and is not thinking at all about what your needs are just hers. My oldest son only can hear what HIS thoughts are and is not good at thinking outside the box of his own thoughts. This makes it hard because he will usually form opinions and then is not open to having any other opinion thought about. He will argue. It is frustrating because people like my oldest son are difficult to love and to be around at times. And they tend to hurt their family. Forgiveness is being utilized all the time. Yet God has shown me how he loves my son and how he looks at him and I get humbled sometimes with what God brings to my mind when I am having difficulty with this relationship. Ginny

And how cool that your son was praised on the radio like that! Way to go, Zak! Dee, good to hear your son's mood has changed. Linda, I'm glad you got a good sleep last night. Have a great time at the river! Ginny, what a lovely thing you said in regards to God and your eldest son. Wow! I have no particular plans for the weekend. It's supposed to be a nice hot weekend so that's great. Ds2 was to come home from Germany tonight and we were going to have a big welcome-home dinner but at the last minute he's decided to postpone his return, apply for a work visa and stay for a while. He probably won't be home for Christmas. BUT! Ds3 got a job yesterday. It's with his uncle and maybe just what he needs right now--a boss who is sympathetic and understanding of his limitations and his need for frequent doctor appointments, etc. I hope it works out.

Thanks, Ginny. It's okay that ds2 won't be coming home. It's an awesome opportunity for him to experience another culture and learn another language. He studied German for three years in school, though he didn't do well with it (it was compulsory) but those classes he took are making it easier for him to pick up the language now. He says he can understand about 1/4 of what people say to him. His tentative return is for March but that date only because he had to give some date when he changed his ticket. Each change will cost him $100 but he'll have the ticket for when he needs it, and he won't have to pay increased ticket prices. They won't give him a refund.
