ORIGINAL: emerging Well said, Nothingman. One way I have found helpful in thinking of Logos as Word is by recognizing that the 10 commandments are not really "commandments" but "words." In the Hebrew it is better said the Ten Words rather than commandments. If that is the case, than Jesus as the "Word" of God is to put flesh and blood on what it looks like to be in a covenant relationship with the Father, just as the Ten Words describe what a people look like who are in covenant fidelity to Yahweh. peace. This is the point of the Torah observant life style, that I have been trying to explain to others. Just as Logos is difficult to translate into english, but refered to the concept of devine reason to the greek philosophers, Ha Torah is difficult to translate into greek, for greek has no term for an infinite personal creator who is what He professes Himself to be. The fates might be close, but there is nothing personal in that, and it is ever changing and chaotic. Maybe that is why Yochanan(John), or one who translated his history into greek, chose the word Logos. Paul clarifies this when he uses the concept of "the unknown god" as a starting point to explain Adonai(Ha Torah) and Yeshua(Ha Torah become flesh)to the greeks. I hope I didn't lose you. The written Torah is just a limited representatrion of Adonai. I've covered a lot of ground in a short space. Please, let me know if you follow.
