so is anyone here willing to take the big step and say that bible code is evil, or is of the devil, or that God gets no glory at all whatsoever by men who do the code searches. seems so all or nothing to the majority of posters.

I wouldn't say they're evil in and of themselves, but just as with anything, they can be taken to an unhealthy extreme. If people stop listening to the plain words of Scripture, and instead live their lives based on the Bible cods, then yes, for them, the codes have become evil.

They are not evil, but they can be a bit distracting, kind of like a dancing black cat.

I dont think they are evil, but i think some of the code references can be made out to look ridiculous. For instance i just looked at a website that said one of the bible codes predicted Jordan would help the Bulls win the NBA...now thats where it gets into an evil area. When they look at only what they WANT to see, instead of really trying to learn if they mean anything BIBLICAL or not, or if its just all in their heads.

I completely agree with this. and this is why I use the term "neat".
maybe someone might see this and think of it as taking God's book and turning it into a game.

The mystery has already been revealed to us in full and nothing has been written which we cannot read or understand... which means we don't need a math degree or a computer algorithm to figure it out, and the idea that information has been hidden from us until someone could crack the code goes completely against God's own word. God never told us to search for secret information in His written word... ever. We know the authenticity of the Holy Bible and the existence of God through the testifying of the Holy Spirit and through faith, not through man's attempts to prove God exists through hidden codes or secret information.

Col 1:25 I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness - 26 the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints. 27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 28 We proclaim HIm, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.

Rom 16:25 Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, 26 but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey Him...

2 Cor 1:12 Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, in the holiness and sincerity that are from God. We have done so not according to worldly wisdom but according to God's grace. 13 For we do not write you anything you cannot read or understand.

Rom 1:16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

Hypothetical: What if someone pulls out a mathematically proven Bible code which says 'Jesus is not the only way'. Oops. For those who have put their faith in codes, big trouble. Gnosticism, occultism, mysticism... these things are the result of man looking for answers beyond what God has provided.

Hidden knowledge = occult. This stuff is very dangerous... not to mention forbidden by God.

I know what ur saying, but thats not actually what i meant by bible codes - i didnt mean for someone to put their faith in them and believe them to be more true than the words of the bible that are clear as day.
Hopefully no one does that anyways.

If you believe there are codes, you are putting faith in them. While it may not be more important than the other words of the Bible, there is faith being put in the idea that God has hidden information that we can only hope to seek out and find. It's almost Gnostic in nature, and should be steered clear of.

Believing that something exists does not mean one is putting faith in it. I believe satan exists but I am not putting my faith in him. Many people believe there is a God, but they do not put their faith in Him.

Just like Focusing said - - - just because something exists dosent mean you put faith into it.

Yeah, but if you believe the codes are part of God's word, and part of His way of communicating with us, then there IS faith put into them.

You didn't. My comments were never directly aimed at you. They were made to the general surplus.

Thanks,
