What are your favorite national/international ministries? Are they specifically geared towards singles? Why do you like them?

There are a number of ministries that have really ministered to me as a believer and also as a single person. I like listening to Family Life Today - because sometimes they have shows that are geared towards singles that I find to be really interesting. I like hearing about marriage and family too - it is educational for me. I also love John Piper's teaching, R.C. Sproul, Tony Evans, Myles Monroe, Beth Moore, Kay Arthur, and many others.

I feel that we are blessed to have many different teachers that can share the word openly!

I actually support a single missionary who is working in the country of my passion. My hope/prayer is to be able to go there short-term in the coming summers.

How exciting mutinywxgirl! It is a wonderful thing to be called to support - I can't give full support because I am a grad student, but God has put it on my heart to give a small amount to missionary on a regular basis as well. I don't know if it is helping any, but I'm trying to be faithful. Can you say what country they are in? (I know you can't always reveal it). I pray that the Lord will open the door for you to be able to go sometime soon.

I listen to the following radio programs daily. THey're not focus on singles ministry. THey provide me a balance perspective on Christian living and theology. Each one is focus on different things.

Insight for living by Chuck Swindoll
Focus on the Family
Grace to You with John MacArthur
In tough Ministries with Charles Stanley

Weekly, I listen to an apologetics program called Stand to Reason and Reasonable faith. That's where i get most of my understanding of Christian theology.

I also listen to The God Journey. It's a different take on what being a CHristian means.

I follow the Internet Monk's website.

And I follow the podcasts of my old pastor who moved to another province.

I think my faith grew so much because of these ministries.

Neat PrairieHiker - I've heard of some of those ministries, but not all of them. Now I have some new ones to check out! Thanks!

Oh, she's in Skopje, Macedonia. Acts 16:9 is my life verse (strange one, I know), but God has used it in my life in SO many ways, it's not even funny. Right now the support is very minimal (I'm not a grad student, but my funds are very limited), but I do hope one day to be able to do more. I'm actually looking into my church doing a trip to help out another Calvary Chapel in Kossovo. I just want/need to get to that area of the world - I don't think I'd stop crying the entire time.

Both of the missionaries over there do a lot of work with the single women in the respective cities.

Wow mutinywxgirl! How wonderful that God is using people in so many places. I pray that you'll get a chance to travel to that region one day soon :)

In reality, you could say that my passion is for all the countries of the former Eastern Europe.

[My favorite ministries--well, there are so many...

But my very favorite minister, Greg Laurie, went through a personal crisis the past few weeks with his son taken into the presence of the Lord. He invited us into his world, allowing us to comfort him and his family last week at the Harvest Crusade, and in turn, he ministered to thousands, being transparent about his loss, yet, he was letting us know that there is one way, and that is Jesus.

Other Favorites...

Jon Courson, who ministers to people, even when they go through loss. Jon has a kind, tender heart for people..

Skip Hetzing

Chuck Smith

Raul Ries

(I'm partical to them because they are Calvary Chapel pastors)

Marvin Sapp---He's a singer, but he also has a church. You remember the song, "Never Would Have Made It"....

Noel Jones

Alistiar Begg[/ font]

mutinywxgirl - Wow - does that extend to central asia - like Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan ... or do you find yourself drawn more towards Armenia, Poland and other countries in that region?

Gayle - cool - new names and ministries to check out! I like Bishop Jones as well - I think that he breaks down theological concepts quite well. I haven't heard form Alistair Begg in a while - but I remember his Irish (?) brogue coming across the airwaves early in the morning ("and Jesus Chrrrrist died for us ..."). I really appreciated his ministry. I've heard of Marvin Sapp, but for some reason can't recall any of his songs - I'll have to look him up on Rhapsody or YouTube. I wondered who Greg Laurie was many times when I saw your avatar. I'll see if I can find something about him.

The slavic ones and surrounding countries. I worked for Slavic Gospel Association many years ago - when everything was still closed off. What they were able to do was amazing!

Honestly, I've not considered those "stans" countries, but I can see how God may be putting them on my heart as well. One of my girlfriends is deployed in Afghanistan. I have a friend from Iran. I know others from the "stans".

I just want/need to go over there. I can't see it being permanent, however, doing short-term trips would be beyond amazing! Slavic languages come very naturally to me - and I don't have an ounce of slavic blood in me. It's all God!

Alistair Begg is one of my favorites! And, I'm partial to Calvary Chapel pastors too. But, I got much of my teaching through programs I would hear on Moody radio when I lived near Chicago.

ONEPLACE I was just there earlier this evening. I LOVE THAT SITE :)

There is another one that is geared towards charismatic, word of faith, and pentacostal preachers that is called streamingfaith.org. I like both of them and can always find something that blesses me. Thanks a lot also for sharing The God Journey. I'm listening to it now - I've never heard of them - they seem really down to earth and like they really love the Lord - I like the conversational format.

Thanks for sharing these!!!!

I didn't know about moody radio. I found it here online: http://www.moodyradio.org/

I respect moody a lot - so now I can listen - what a blessing.

I started this thread on a whim (just felt like talking) and now I feel like I'm getting so much. This is so great! I'm excited to learn about all of these new ministries.

Don't you just love when God does stuff like this? And, there's no telling how many others who are lurking who are also being blessed beyond belief from your faithfulness to start the thread. Good job!

The God journey is really good. But you have to be careful not to misunderstand them. They do Christianity differently. They don't even belong in a church organization. The essential theology is sound, but the practice is very different from institutionalized Christianity. That's why I love them. They provide a balance between being right with God and being loved/being loving. They are relationship focused which really gave me a new perspective on how to view and relate to people--whether Christian or not. I like them a lot, but I have to balance them with other Christian programming. Check out the archive on Singleness. It really helped me a lot during my times of struggles.

Focus on the Family mostly.

Listen to bits and pieces of various folks on the local Christian channels.

Support FOF, Jews for Jesus, American Bible Society, Father Flanagan's Boys town and a bunch of other ministries/organizations.

Most ministry I receive is from my reading and from my local church

I heartily second Gayle's vote for Greg Laurie. His site webcasts the services live.

Here's his website: http://www.harvest.org/

By the way, guess who's guest-speaking at his church, Harvest Christian Fellowship this week? Alistair Begg.

Oh, and the Crusade Gayle mentioned is now archived at the site.

I'm such a goober - I thought you meant like, areas of the church to serve with type of ministries!

So - I'll say my favorite ministry is my local church! Ha.

I can't say I'm very familiar with any of the big nationwide/international ones.
