Do you get paid if you take a sick day?Remember the last time you were sick? Were you able to take a day off from work to get better or would taking a sick day have meant losing a day's pay?

yes we have `13 sick days and after that we have to use vacation time if we want to get paid for it. I'm very fortunate in that ours are allowed to accrue so at one point I had saved up 121 sick days. It was a true blessing when I needed surgery.

I get paid and we qualify for short-term leave/disability at 100% pay (which is different than a sick day, but I don't know how)

BTW - THANK YOU GOD for this job!

I have PTO which can be used for either. I do think that every job should have paid sick time because I've worked with many people who came in sick to work because they couldn't afford not to.

It does get abused though but now with HIPAA they can't ask unless you're out for an extended amount of time.

After you have been employed for 3 months, you earn one sick day for each month of employment.

I get paid for a sick day IF I have any "sick days/hours" left. Was in a serious car accident 20 mos ago and ran out of "sick leave" pretty quick...and kept using it up as fast as I earned it for more than a year. And even then I was at work a lot of days I would have preferred to be at home, though part of that was because at the time I was one of two people working a mission essential position (now w/6 doing what 2 were doing then), so I had to work a lot of days in severe pain. This past spring, I worked for 4 weeks with pneumonia before I could make make it to the Dr. (combination work requirements and lack of sick leave). Right now I have no sick leave left, so either burn vacation time or work.
