Who likes fish earrings? you know, the Christian symbol.

GroupW -> RE: Who likes fish earrings? (8/18/2008 3:44:25 PM)

How do you attach them to the fish? Must not be clip-ons.

faroukfarouk -> RE: Who likes fish earrings? (8/18/2008 3:46:38 PM)

GroupW:

Oh pierced. of course. The fish symbol on a stud through the earlobe, and clasp.

I know fish have gills.

I didn't know they have ears.[&:]

They're pierced (the fish, that is.) Technically, the ears are optional.

faroukfarouk -> RE: Who likes fish earrings? (8/18/2008 3:55:24 PM)

Oh I'm talking about fish symbols.

As earrings. You know, as a conversation-starter with ppl, maybe.

So would anyone wear them?

Ichthys (Greek: ἰχθύς, capitalized ΙΧΘΥΣ; also transliterated and Latinized as ichthys, icthus, ichthus or ikhthus; ichthus), is the Ancient and Classical Greek word for "fish." In English it refers to a symbol consisting of two intersecting arcs, the ends of the right side extending beyond the meeting point so as to resemble the profile of a fish, said to have been used by early Christians as a secret symbol and now known colloquially as the "sign of the fish" or the "Jesus fish."

I think it's a great conversation starter. If it's gets people to ask what it is and what it means why not.

G56:

So as a conversation starter, well worth it for women or men to at least one earlobe embedded with one, then.

Take care.

I have a fish earring, and I love it.

faroukfarouk -> RE: Who likes fish earrings? (9/1/2008 12:11:18 PM)

makarizo:

I guess it can be a conversation-starter, right?

So are you m or f?

makarizo -> RE: Who likes fish earrings? (9/1/2008 2:24:07 PM)

I am M, and a fish earring was given to me as a gift from a very special person.
I almost never wear an earring, but if I got the fish on, I hope it is a conversation starter!!!!

faroukfarouk -> RE: Who likes fish earrings? (9/1/2008 3:08:26 PM)

makarizo:

I guess it's good for men to be prepared to stud an earlobe so it can be a conversation starter about sth faith related, right?

Well, I know what you are talking about. But do you like the other fish earrings. The ones that are long and that cross at the bottom. They dangle? I might have to find a picture for you.

faroukfarouk -> RE: Who likes fish earrings? (9/1/2008 11:50:36 PM)

Pops:

Great to see you on this thread as well. So you think that they suit men as well? (and are maybe effective as a conversation starter?)

Take care.

PopsiLufsJesus -> RE: Who likes fish earrings? (9/1/2008 11:58:10 PM)

Well the ones I am talking about would not look good on a man, but the ones you are talking about...sure.

I am not a HUGE earring person. I was 16 when I got my ears pierced for the first time and my lil 11 year old sister got hers done with me. I didn't want to do it and finally I agreed. I was shaking and they got the earring gun stuck in my ear. So I have problems with that ear. And both ears because I have to have the non-allergenic kind of earring!

But yea, good convo starter if I do say so myself

How are you this evening?

faroukfarouk -> RE: Who likes fish earrings? (9/2/2008 12:02:13 AM)

Pops:

Im fine thnx.

So you're a conservative 'one earring in each ear' lady, are you?

You do agree, then, that a man's earlobe studded with an earring which is a conversation-starting, faith-related one, can be positive?

Take care.

PopsiLufsJesus -> RE: Who likes fish earrings? (9/2/2008 12:11:12 AM)

Yes I agree!

And yep, conservative for the moment. I was thinking about getting my nose pierced.

faroukfarouk -> RE: Who likes fish earrings? (9/2/2008 12:13:54 AM)

Pops:

Sounds nice, anyway. You know that the Lord in Ezekiel 16.12 gave Zion a nose ring? and Rebekah in Genesis had one too, right.

So is there a good parlor near you, for you to have your nose done?

I think men should be able to participate in a bit of ear piercing if they want to, especially if the jewelry can be faith related, such as a fish symbol, etc.

Take care.

PopsiLufsJesus -> RE: Who likes fish earrings? (9/2/2008 12:15:59 AM)

So, I am curious.

What piercings do you have?

faroukfarouk -> RE: Who likes fish earrings? (9/2/2008 12:17:52 AM)

Pops:

And what does your mom think of your nose piercing plans?

Hey, I'm aged in my 40s and have worn my earrings for years.

Take care.

[BTW: this site is quite heavily moderated and they like ppl to keep strictly to topic; why not start a 'nose piercing' thread in this Miscellaneous area? just a suggestion.]

PopsiLufsJesus -> RE: Who likes fish earrings? (9/2/2008 12:23:29 AM)

My Mom doesn't think it to be lady-like. But I am 21 and so I guess it is up to me now?

faroukfarouk -> RE: Who likes fish earrings? (9/2/2008 12:26:43 AM)

Pops:

Well, Rebekah in Genesis had one, and God gave one to Zion in Ezekiel 16.12, and yes you are a 21 year old lady, and yes it is up to you!

(Is there a good parlor near you? but why not start a 'nose piercing' thread in this Miscellaneous section? it's simple to do.)

Take care.

PopsiLufsJesus -> RE: Who likes fish earrings? (9/2/2008 12:30:42 AM)

I would, but it really isn't a broad topic to me. What would I talk about?

I like this though, you already have it started. I am sure that there are different colors of the fishie earrings and also different sizes.

faroukfarouk -> RE: Who likes fish earrings? (9/2/2008 12:33:22 AM)

Pops:

Well, you know, I think either a fish style stud or a small fish pendant can be good for a man.

(Re. a nose piercing thread in this Miscellaneous section, you could simply ask what ppl think of the idea, and you could tell them a little of your plans. Remember: this site is heavily moderated and ppl are encouraged to keep strictly to topic.)

Take care.
