BTW..yes I find it hard to obey Matthew 5:44. It's hard to love ones enemies. Altho HATE is a harsh word, and I don't HATE anyone. But their are a few folks I really try to avoid. I should be praying for them huh?

We went to the county fair Sat. afternoon. Enjoyed them tractor pulls. Ethan thought they were sort of boreing tho. LOL Took him on the real ponies to ride around the circle five times. Cost me $5 to do that [:@]
Then brought him over to the kiddie rides. He decided on the merry-go-round and a cute "raceing car" ride. Cryed when that ended because he wanted to go longer. There again...they only went around the small track five times. What a rip-off. What ever happened to them rides going longer? Seems to me they went a tad longer when I was little. Walked away from the fair grounds with him crying. Did'ent help that he was tired tho. But I sure did get some cool pictures [sm=hug.gif]

Good morning, Ginny & Barb . . . yes, Ginny, thanks for starting us off this morning. And yes, sometimes it IS hard to do as Jesus tells us. But He really doesn't give us an option, does he [&:]

Yeah, Barb, we've not been to a carnival or fair in many years, but the last time we took our kids, it seemed like it cost a fortune. Ridiculous.

Thank you for your prayers on Garrett's behalf . . . just arrived a bit ago, and it seems I am going to be able to take him to his first day of 'school' afterall. He has a huge totebag of stuff to take to the school too, so it was sure a good thing! I'm so thankful I don't have to put him on that bus. I guess I will have to do that tomorrow, but at least today he will be able to meet his teachers and get to feel a little familiar with the classroom. I don't agree he needs to be in this special school yet -- he's just too young to be away from home for that long -- well, away from those he's grown familiar with. I do think the therapy they offer will help, but that could have been arranged to be given here at my house. However, he's not my child and it's not my decision. Right now I am just thankful for the opportunity to take him to the classroom personally and allow him to spend some time with the teacher before I abandon him on a strange bus.

I went to the gym early this morning. Now I'm showered, dressed and should be busy cleaning something, but here I sit instead [&:]

Linda, I'm glad you can take Garrett to school for his first day. I Hope it all goes well.

Ginny, you did a LOT before going to work! I love your focus on God and Scripture. Have I ever wanted to do the opposite of what Jesus wants? Absolutely! And I've gotten very mad at him because of it. Thankfully, in the end I've usually seen the benefits of his way even if I didn't like it.

Barb, I'm thinking that those rides seemed longer to us as kids because we were kids then and time is different to a child than an adult. Poor little guy, though! He probably wanted to spend all day on the rides!

I'm tired. I got a good sleep last night but the previous three nights I did not. I would love to stay in bed all day but I can't. Sure is tempting though. We're home today and tomorrow and then we're on the road for five days. The weekend at camp was good for the most part. The teaching was awesome but some of my deep pain got touched, which marred things for me but I have to expect that that will happen at anything we go to that focuses on marriage and pain, though unpleasant, isn't always a bad thing. It can open our eyes to truths we might otherwise not see and it pushes us to God. I enjoyed the others who were there, all strangers except for the couple leading, and I'm hoping to stay connected with some of them.

Poor Ethan and poor grandma. Dragging a reluctant child away from fun was always for me stressing. Am glad you got some pics Barb. Those rides are expensive! and I do believe they do not last as long as when we were kids no matter how much different time is to a child vs. an adult.

Leah, that's great you could take Garrett this morning. How did it go? Was he able to let you go or did he cling to you?

Maggie, you've been doing a lot lately. And it sounds you need some inner healing. I will continue to hold you up in my prayers.

Dee, how was your day?

My day went fast. It was very busy with walk-ins, phone calls, 3 full-time faculty and 16 students. I loved it!

Yes I do, Ginny. Thank you for your prayers. I think part of it is that I continue wanting to pursue healing. It would be very easy to say that God's done a great work in me and leave it at that but I don't want to settle for anything but the best, so I keep allowing him to stir what's in me. I think this is part of what God means when he talks about refining us. I want to be pure gold with no alloy mixed in.

Hope you all had a great Monday. Mine was alright I guess. I did have Katie come and spend the day. That was nice. She also did her laundry. Funny..when she was liveing here, I did'ent get my kisses from her...now I do when she leaves [sm=heart.gif] I always got kisses from my kids when they were small. But when they went into their teen years the kiss was gone. It always comes back tho. [;)]
She also had to leave $100 for us. That's how much her used washing machine cost. We went to pick it up last night. Now it's in the garage with her dryer. Hope she comes and gets it soon. The guy we bought it from says it works fine. It's only 7 yrs old. It should last her as long as her schooling goes.

I have Isabelle here all day today. Guess Brandi works first shift. Then this afternoon I will have Ethan and Brett. Sarah works the second shift today. So it should be an intresting day. Three of my grandkids and two great neices.

Good morning, Barb! Sounds like you have a busy day ahead.

Garrett's here, will catch the bus at 11:10 then I will leave to go to the Supercenter, then meet Ginny for lunch, then go get my mammogram. I should get back here around 3:00, in time to get him off the bus at 3:45 or so. He was so tired yesterday, literally dragging his feet while walking, then finally falling over them. Daddy said he went to sleep at 8:00 and didn't want to get up this morning. I need to try a different tactic to get him to go to sleep this afternoon. He really needs an hour nap before daddy picks him up else he's going to be too worn out by the end of the week. He only goes to school 4 days -- no school for him on Friday.

I'm so looking forward to lunch with Ginny!

Thanks Linda. I looked forward to it too. Can't wait until we do it again and this time I have another Mexican restaurant for you to try.

My faculty were all good on the time I spent at lunch with you course I didn't run over very much and I made it all back and then some this afternoon.

I got to work at 7:45 this morning and left at 6:25.

Good thing we are having pizza tonight.

Even though we were limited as far as time goes I think we had a good chat session.

Wish you could have been there Maggie, Dee and Barb.

I mention to one of my faculty today about how you Maggie and Linda are online Christian friends I met at a Christian web site and that we talk almost every day on MSN.

She thought that was great and I agreed. I am so thankful I work with Christians! Even my work study student is a Christian.

I had a nice afternoon yesterday, with the grandkids and great neice's. Ethan was a tad naughty again tho. I wish that boy would nap once.
Guess yesterday, midmorning, he decided to eat a whole bottle of them gummie vitimins [:o]
His mom called and asked what to do. I told her to hang up from me, and call the poison control center. All was well because they did'ent have any iron or fluoride in them. Sarah said she was upstairs in the bath. When Ethan got to my house at 2:30 I talked to him about it. He said his mom was sleeping..and would'ent listen to him when he told her he was hungry. So he went into the cupboard to get some "fruit snacks"
Why do they make medicine to look like fruit snacks anyways? [:@]
I was alittle concerned about what Ethan said with Sarah sleeping at 10:30AM..while he was on his own. Talked to Tommy about it when he picked up the boys. I have went over there in the past, and found her sleeping mid-morning. I kept Brett here when Tommy left with Ethan. I told him I would give him a bath and bring him home at bedtime. Gave us a chance to bond. He is such a sweet baby. We had a good time. I got him to laugh and coo. When Sarah called around 7PM, I told her I kept Brett. She was'ent to happy with me. She said Tommy expectes her to beable to handle both boys, so he should beable to do it also. I told her Tommy did'ent ask me to keep him..I asked for him. I was just trying to help out. I know Tommy is all thumbs with infants. Goodness...my husband did'ent do well with infants either.
I tell you...this anger is starting to come to a head with that daughter-in-law. I'm gonna have to have "my talk" with her soon [:@] [:@] [:@]

I'm envious going out to lunch. The last time I went out to lunch was July 3rd & that's only because dd1 was home to be with the kids. She was on vacation. Also y'all live in the same area. Well Barb isn't. How's it going ladies?
Talking about not wanting to follow the Lords will sometimes I know can be hard but like Linda said we don't really have a choice.[;)] I heard a pastor on our christian radio station here talking about that very thing one time, & I remember him saying if God gave us total freedom to do what we wanted who would we be married to? Where would we be living? What would we be doing? When I started thinking about it in that light I had to be thankful. Because I know I would have mucked it up!

Most people do. Which is why there is a 50% chance of a marriage failing today. Most people do not think about God when they get married today.

I am home for lunch grabbing some leftover pizza then back to work.

Where is everyone? Where has Dee been? Oh Maggie is on a 5 day trip.

Barb, Is your daughter-in-law getting enough sleep at night with the new baby? She might be making up for lost sleep. Offer to do the same for her you did for your son today...a time without baby. Or do you do that already?

Good morning Barb & Kimberley . . . sorry Ethan is being a pill for you, Barb -- and that the dil is being a bigger pill [8D] . . . it does sound as tho a talk may be in order.

Kimberley, I remember meeting you before in here -- was it this thread or another one? Help me refresh here [;)] . . . . yes, going out to lunch is fun, and especially fun to get together with someone on here. Ginny & I live only 20 miles apart, so we get to see each other fairly often. We met thru here, tho -- actually thru Maggie (who lives in Canada ) . . . pretty good when you need someone from another country to introduce you to your neighbor, huh sm=eek.gif] . . . but we became fast friends and love to get together -- for any reason! [sm=dance.gif][sm=funny.gif][sm=dance.gif]

Garrett is home with me today. He had a touch of diarrhea yesterday, and the school ask that we keep him home if it continued into today, which it did. He is acting a little puny, too -- just not quite his usual perky, happy self. I just fixed him some bacon, and got him to eat that and a few tiny bites of apple. He's not eaten fruit for me before, so I was happy with just a few bites -- it's a start.

Next week I am going to start keeping a 9 y/o boy after school for an hour, and will look around for maybe another one or two. I asked Garrett's daddy this morning if he is on the list for daycare, and he assured me he wasn't, so I guess I've got him for a while yet. With that in mind, I've decided to forego the search for another job and just take in another child or two. After school will work well. Not a lot of money, but they won't be here long either.

The 9 y/o starting next week is actually the son of a friend of mine -- I've sewn for him quite often, and he's been here several times. His mom & I IM'd each other last night and kinda caught up on each other's lives, then she asked if I'd be interested in keeping him -- just kidding, at first, but then I realized she really did want to move him out of the daycare system where he is very bored. It was truly a blessing that she asked about that just at the time I'd decided that's what I needed to do. Kinda like one of those 'signs' from God [:D] . . . I truly believe He leads us in this manner when we are unsure about what we should be doing. I'm so thankful He cares about us so.

Barb, I hope I didn't sound harsh earlier. (((Barb)))) :)

Supper is fish and macaroni and cheese. Probably will forgo on the peas. My oldest and my granddaughter are eating at their church. The church sponsors a meal every Wednesday. Who knows maybe seed is being planted through this outreach time. This son is my worse critic, can't talk about the bible or the LORD without him saying don't push religion down my throat or another cutting remark. And all I said was I really like my Life Application Bible. Geesh.

Yesterday I was exhausted for some reason. It was the first day of school. I was trying to help E figure out some stuff; this week she is trying to get signed up for a college class and find a place to go for school to career. I wish she'd have worked all that out earlier.

The eye doctor thinks my son needs glasses. If he can see the board and his eyes don't bother him I'm not convinced. So I need to figure that out.

Last week we wouldn't let E go to her boyfriend's apt (that he just moved into) for a movie night with some of their guy friends. Apparently he took that as a personal insult. I got an angry email from him, after I emailed him because E said he was upset. I'm sick and tired of this. It all has a potentially very unhappy ending. It's a long story. But right now I'm just trying to figure out if I should reply or not. I'm pretty sure that nothing I can say will make anything better. This exchange was Monday.

Dee, remind me how old is E? My daughter at 14 had a boyfriend that reacted like E's did, angry when I wouldn't let her do something. He considered it a personal insult. It was a very difficult time especially when DD told me she was pregnant by this boy later that year. The boy ended up being abusive. He's gone through 2 marriages and several girlfriends and has finally grown up but no way would DD have been happy if they had married. Too much controlling involved with this boy. Is E's boyfriend like that? He showed a lot of disrespect for you and a lot of SELF concern with his reaction. I will pray.

If the doctor says he needs glasses, is it because of the eye exam he did? When I first needed glasses and my parents got them I didn't wear them and because of that my eyes got worse. I found out if you need glasses and don't get them or wear them then your eyes just get worse.

Dual credit classes are great to get ready for college. They cost less while you are in high school and will cut down on time needed in college. But she really needs to see what it will transfer in as at the colleges she wants to go to. How it will fit in her degree plan. We have students who take what is called Principles of Biology for dual credit and then the class transfers into our college as General Biology and is not good for the nursing degree which needs Principles.

I put a roast in the crock pot this morning. Browned it first in olive oil, put a can of soda, an envelope of onion soup mix, a can of beef broth in the crock pot with the roast. At lunch I'll come home and put in the carrots, onions and potatoes.

My faculty are getting exhausted with this week of two programs running and a preBridge class. They are at work for class to begin at 7:20 am and then don't leave until 8:00 pm. They have given me plenty of work to do and I love it. The only thing I really need to keep doing is tasking the work on Outlook so I don't forget anything assigned. But I do love organizing, planning and being busy. And I love typing. Do have to figure out how to politely let my work study student know I don't always have time to socialize and the students too.

Leah, great for you and the after-school student. You might want to get the word out, that you can care for before and after school age children.
There are alot of parents around my area that NEED that kind of childcare.
I did it one year and decided I did'ent like it tho. I can't relate with older children like I do with babies and toddlers. I just do better with the younger ones. Guess that's my calling.

Ginny, no, not to worry.. you did'ent sound harsh yesterday. I did used to take Ethan alot when he was an infant..to give Sarah a break. But she grew dependent on me, and that was'ent good. She also expected it then. And after my "mother-in-law bashing" I found out how dependent she was with me. So I pulled back big time. Basically let her handle Brett by herself. But she did start depending on her mom then. Brett sleeps through the night now. Is in bed at 8PM and sleeps until 4AM. Then he goes back to sleep after his feeding. So it's not that Sarah is exausted..she is just plain LAZY. I have found that out the hard way. The girl is 26 years old..bout time she grew up once. Now I might sound harsh...but it's the truth just the same. I'm trying to put the weekly verse in my thoughts and just pray for her.

Maggie, we had BLT's and corn on the cob last night for supper. Also made a cake called "better than sex" I was'ent impressed with the cake tho. It was a yellow cake mix with mandarin oranges,oil,and eggs all beat together. The frosting was vanilla puddind,crushed pinapple, and cool whip. It tasted OK but I would'ent make it again.

No Way would I let my daughter go over to her boyfriends aparetment. I would ask to go along to watch over them. LOL You made the right dessision no matter how mad she gets at you. {{{Dee}}}

Dee, the fact that this guy got so angry is mostly likely because you frustrated his selfish plans, which probably included what you are most concerned about. Stick to your guns, especially if your daughter is under age (once my kids were 18, I gave my thoughts but realized they were old enough to make their own mistakes--which they have). {{{{{{{{{Dee}}}}}}}}

Ginny, what you're calling "dual credit" classes, are they the same as "advanced placement"? I like the sound of your roast. Wish I could come for dinner!

I'm not impressed with the motel we're in. It's quite down at the heels and somewhat stingy. I'm in the breakfast nook. There are three tiny metal folding tables and six matching folding chairs that look like they'll fall apart if I sit on them. Breakfast consists of sliced bread, dry cereal with milk, two juices and coffee. I had to ask for water for my tea because there isn't even a sink here.

Thanks Maggie, Barb, and Ginny. E is 17. That's the kind of guy we're talking about Ginny. E will be 18 in March, and she may very well marry this guy. But I will continue to set boundaries while I can. I just have to figure out what they are. It's hard to watch. E saw the email, but I try to not say too much because she needs to figure out for herself what she is dealing with. Actually, I've said plenty already, maybe too much.

The dual credit is classes taken for both high school and college credit.

E is taking human growth and development, English, and college algebra for college credit. The human growth and development will be online from the school she wants to go to. But it's a little tricky, since different nursing programs have different pre-requisites. So I know what you are saying.

I'm afraid once they turn 18 years old you can't do much more with them. I just kept hopeing everything I taught them would kick in sooner or later [sm=popsigh.gif]
I'm not saying your parenting is done with them...you can still offer loveing advice. It's just up to them if they want to listen to you of not.
Katie called me up yesterday to ask how to boil eggs for a salad she was makeing. She also called to ask about why some lights and outlets worked and some did'ent. I told her to call the landlord as it sounded like they flipped a breaker or blew a fuse. As for the eggs...I told her if they were still not done to boil them some more. See...they STILL NEED US.
