Is Vladamir Putin the anti-christ? I don't honestly think so. I have a very hard time believing that Russia is going to spawn the Antichrist for two specific reasons. First, the assumption that Russia is going to be the last Beast of Daniel 7 has been popular eschatology only since the Cold War era. Since many of us still remember what the world was like with the Iron Curtain of the USSR, I think that as a whole we are still to "Pavlov-ish" to really be objective about Russia's involvment in world politics. Secondly, it would be somewhat out of character for the Bible to be referring to Russia. The overwhelming majority of Biblical prophecy is referring to nations orbiting around the Mediterranean Sea (Greece, Egypt, Israel, Edom, Tyre, Rome) and those to the East of Israel (Edom, Babylon, Persia, Syria, Assyria). These two make me think that Putin could very much be a foreshadowing or a "type" of the Antichrist (much like Hitler and Stalin), but I can't honestly say I think that he IS the Antichrist.quote:
I don't think he is pretty enough to be the anti-Christ....where's the charm? Charm being a relative term... You can't forget that Vladamir Putin is an extremely popular figure in Russia. In fact, people were wanting him to pass executive orders lifting the restrictions on term limits so he could run again. So, as we say in the states, "one man's trash is another's treasure."quote:
Cow did you ever consider the fact that they all are potential Antichrist? Between the use of the words "fact" and "potential" in the same sentance, the irony of this statement is just sickening... Adam
