ORIGINAL: tracydolls I am starting this thread because of another question from another thread. The verses are: Rev 18:10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come. Rev 18:11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more: I always thought this was what happened in New York on Sept. 11 The World Trade(merchants) center came down in one hour. Thoughts? In the previous chapter, chapter 17 verse 16, it says, "And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh and burn her with fire." Verse 17:12 tells us what these ten horns represent. "And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have recieved no kingdom as yet but receive power as kings one hour with the beast." (When it says "one hour" it doesn"t literally mean only 1 hour but it simply means a very short time) I don't want to make this long and drawn out so I won't get into all the references, but I just want to say that the beast is representative of the antichrist and the ten horns on the beast are symbolic of ten nations who cooperate with the AC to take over the world. Therefore, the main point I am trying to make is that the burning and destruction of "BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH" occurs when the Antichrist is in power and the ten nations have already "given their power and strength unto the beast" (Rev 17:13) to help him take over the world. I'm thinking it is something that will happen right before the Great tribulation starts, or just at the beginning of the Great tribulation. In other words, it is something that is still to happen in the future, not something that has already happened.
