taxing the wealthy??? isn't that discrimination??? seems unfair to me...

LOL - maybe, but it's more successful than trying to tax the poor.

good old fashioned wealth envy...

I don't know what that means.

Then I shall explain......wealth envy, being envious and/or jealous of those who dare to earn or possess more than you...

Really? Someone told me that one of his best traits is that he is neither white nor black and is the descendent of both slave and master so that he can unite everyone in peace and love for Coca Cola.

I think he's incredibly smart. I think it's been a while since we had a really smart guy in the office. What he lacks in experience, he makes up in skill and judgment. He looks for nuance in difficult areas of policy and doesn't seek to fix them with a hammer.

It should be mentioned, if you love taxes, you're not necessarily going to love Obama. If I recall, he's mostly just going to be undoing the Bush cuts on the wealthy. The poor and middle class will be untouched.

Obama doesn't have to do ANYTHING for the Bush tax cuts on the wealthy to be reversed - their 'sunset' was built into them by Bush and the GOP Congress when they passed them.

When the tax *increase* comes in 2010, be sure to assign responsibility on the folks who engineered it that way - the GOP President Bush and the GOP-controlled Congress.

They once asked John Dillinger why he robbed banks for a living.

"That's where the money is," he grinned.

Like it or not, the same is true of taxation - if one HAS to have taxes, it has to come from where the money is.

He seems to be in good health, although he is a heavy smoker.

He is a family man.

He is articulate

He knows how to send and recieve email, and use a computer. (Sen. McCain is just learning)

He is hard worker

He is well educated

He is not from New York or California

That's one thing that sucked the life out of the Japanese economy, eliminating motivation for making a lot of money that inevitably provides jobs for those helping the wealthy reach the top. Nothing like a 95% tax rate to drive out innovation.

I guess this proves I don't watch FOX: You mean he caved? It was one thing I admired about him, that he quit smoking while beginning a campaign for Democratic nominee.

I was unaware he quit. I know he promised his wife he would before campaigning began, and did not. so I could be wrong, perhaps he has recently done so.

I heard he only kind of quit by going on nicotine gum - or patch. Not much has been said, but that was early in the race.

Oh, when I said "race" I meant as in competition, not as in color or anything like that...

If I were making a decision today (without strong party affiliations either way) it would probably be because the opponent has really not presented any really compelling (and trustworthy) reason to vote for him.

Mr. McCain appears to be politicking-especially with his record and past views. Mr. Obama has remained much more consistent of the two if you look at the two on balance (in my opinioin).

All that said, the vote is really not my own-I will pray and do what I really feel the Lord leading me to-for the primary it was Mr. Obama. Perhaps it will be that for the general election as well.

It seems to me that I read somewhere that smoking is prohibited in public and official areas but allowed in the Residence.

Take it for waht it's worth.

Meanwhile, the highest-profile Obama-basher tried to lie about the Senator and just got his head handed to him:

Top Ten List:

10. John McCain is Bob Dole without the charm.

9. Republicans need a good spanking.

8. Hillary likes McCain better.

7. He has a very short political career, thus less negatives. It's all about the negatives.

6. Jesse Jackson hates him.

5. Bill Clinton hates him.

4. He can pronounce the word "nuclear."

3. McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, .....

2. It takes guts to bowl a 36 in front of the whole world.

And the number one reason to vote for Obama...........

Reasons to vote for B. Hussein O.:

He's dynamic

He's confident

He's knowledgeable about a vast range of subjects

He looks like he will listen to reason

He's energetic

He looks presidential.

He looks like he'll get things done.

The way he managed his campaign thus far, raising money and literally bankrupting the Clintons, is unprecedented and was reported used as a case study for an MBA class at an Ivy League school.

One would think this alone would endear Obama to the conservative right...he pretty much put Bill and Hillary out to pasture...

Thanks. No, that's the top of Mt. Rundle near Banff, Alberta. I had to go to Banff on business (at BIRS), believe it or not.

Those are nice signature quotes you have there.

Uh...just so I'm not entirely off topic, I understand that B.O. really did demonstrate a capacity for seeing two sides of issues while he was teaching at a university. He seems generally competent and may be likely to avoid doing things which could be disastrous (at least for the sake of his personal success) even if it runs counter to his ideology and political connections. Seeking needed political connections in Chicago may at least help explain his time in the infamous 'church' (better a cynical politician than a nutty, racist, conspiracy theorist). Certain other connections in his past don't really worry me that much; I've enjoyed hanging out with my share of weirdos too, but certainly wouldn't want to answer for what many of them have done and said.

That's about the best I can do; I'm not really a fan.
